the worst about people who wear all black is that they judge you for wearing colorful clothes to runways (even as a guest), when they dress exclusively in neutrals and won´t even touch color with a stick. I have this one teacher in my fashion school that literally ignores you in the hallways or events if she doesn´t like your fit, and while she may know a lot about knits i know for a fact from her class that she knows barely anything about color and composition.

Unfortunately the other way around is not much better. I wore black a lot in fashion school, not that confident in my style yet and so on. I had this one teacher, from southern Italy who trained at a haute couture house and knew a lot about embroidery and handsewing. Great person, not the best teacher and absolutely allergic to black. She would have drawn out arguments with students who wore too much black in her opinion. Best thing: one of our other teachers wore exclusively black and those two just couldn’t handle each other😅

Re: fast fashion, it’s more important to know what I’m buying and buy for longevity even if it’s from fast fashion. I have a couple sweaters from H&M from a few years ago that are 100% wool and I still think they’re beautiful and wear them all the time. I’d never consider an acrylic or polyamide sweater from the same store though, and the wool was priced about the same as the synthetics.
