Hence his Party ignored him.The close down of factories and retrenchment of employees and wage cuts etc. to propitiate World bank & IMF is another untold story.Then the JMM bribing, these are underhand methods unbecoming of a National leader. His disciple is Dr. Manmohan sing, was chosen as Finance minister to win the trust of World bank;later prime Minister for the same reason.One thing is true. All Nations opened up their Economies, even China. But the difference is China has a compound wall and a Gate through which accountable business is going on. But India has no such compound wallat all. A free for all situation,whether Harshad mehta,kethan parek, Hawala money, Mmallys & neeravs etc The Non performing assets of the banks tell you that.So you are totally refracted in your assessment perhaps being too young to know your predecessors.A near hill appears bigger than distant Everest. Sri Narasimha Rao is the real architect of modern India though Nehru was dubbed as the architect of modern India. He was a dreamer and PVN is a pragmatic soul .His preoccupation was the country and pulling out the nation from the depths of despair which could have gone the way of many banana republics .Biggest short coming was lack of charisma and opposition with in the congress by power seekers like Arjun Singh .He knew very well his priority was his country not the paying obeisance to Nehru Gandhi family. Even the telugus discarded him who were shamelessly submitting to the family.TDP in spite of its opposition to Congress had named the flyover in Hyderabad to Airport after his name. Thank god congress is wiped of in the state.He should be honored with Bharatha rathna at the least and a memorial should be erected in Hyderabad
