The thing about South Park, as callous and flagrantly offensive as it is, is that it's also got a lot of heart. Bit like old Simpsons with the crassness turned way up. Renovating Casa Bonita totally reflects that. The amusing thing is that it will probably make a lot of money, to boot, and quite unintentionally, or perhaps precisely because the drive to make a profit is refreshingly not the motive in an American business...

Was he foreal about the 6 million customers a night?
@twally87 Жыл бұрын
@@Xavier_Cano that number is probably just an exaggerated projection to get into the black by end of that first fiscal year. If they had 6 million customers a night for the first 365 days, it would pay off all the costs of renovation as well as nightly operating costs. Typically, a major investment in a restaurant/theme park like this would be part of a long-term plan for a profitable business, along with financing. I'm not sure whether Matt & Trey are footing the bill entirely independently-- they probably are-- so it doesn't matter to them what those renovation costs are, as they're paid up-front and there's no loan component to daily operating costs. Perhaps if the business eventually reaches a baseline profitable output on a month-by-month basis, it won't matter to them how long it takes for the renovations to have technically been paid-off. Might even be willing to operate it at a loss indefinitely as long as it isn't too bad. They are fairly independently wealthy at this point. I'm sure they've reviewed worst-case scenarios and are fine with it so they figure what they hey, if it means keeping an important part of their childhood open and looking cool, why not?

I went there in 2015 and it was clearly run down and almost empty. It was sad to see all the elements being there, but them either being bad or just not working. With these guys in charge, I am sure that the restaurant will go from a bad joke, back to a good one. It's a really cool thing they are doing.

I never thought of Trey Parker and Matt Stone buying CasaBonita as a joke. They're litterally saving that place when it shut down because of Covid.

Love them or hate them, Trey and Matt brought back a huge landmark for Denver. Also, gave people jobs and guests experiences that remind them of childhood. I just hope they sell South Park casa Bonita merch 😂

@bomber9912 Жыл бұрын
@@autofocus4556 Futurama was good because it took over the golden era of the simpsons. It started right when the simpsons got worse and it ended on a peak. We dont really know what would have happened with Futurama if they continued to air with new episodes after 2013... Im excited to see if they can maintain the old writing quality with their reboot and season 11 next month. But imo South Park is by far the best longest ongoing cartoon/comedy show out there.

They can do that. With Paramount giving them nearly a billion dollars to put out two specials a year on their platform, they can put in the money to do this and hire a competent GM.

I have going there since a kid in the 1970s, then I took my kids there numerous times in the '90s and 2000s. We never tired of it, always loved going there, and spent hours there each time. For my family, it truly is a very memorable part of our lives. It truly was a great place to go as a family. Two of my cousins worked there, way back in their teen years.

As someone who grew up in the Denver metro area from 1981-1997, I can attest that an intense love of Casa Bonita is NOT a joke. This place was magic to me from 4 to 13 (fun fact: they had a neighboring magic store until the nineties). I used to have dreams about making return visits. It was the apex of the 60’s/70’s theme restaurant trend. Casa Bonita, Celebrity Sports Center, and Cinderella City Mall were marvels of midcentury Denver. It utterly made sense when I heard about Matt Stone and Trey Parker buying it and I would’ve done the same in their position. I’m incredibly grateful and can’t wait to take my wife and daughter to Casa Bonita mk II.

I was actually hoping they'd have "Harry" be a semi-regular about-town kind of character given how it ended. Just occasionally showing up playing drum solos on someone's lawn.

Thanks to these guys I know where it was and I hope I can take my kids someday.

been to Casa Bonita a couple times as a military brat when pops was stationed Aurora, CO. Everything the South Park creators say that is magical and amazing about that place is 110% true and accurate. My favorite memory, was my uptight older brother in his late teens got mad that a diver's splash threw a deluge of water onto his tex-mex plate of food much to my amusement. The restaurant just replaces it free of charge and you literally got a new full dinner plate back in like 2 minutes (enchiladas are quick n ez). Can't wait to go back there one day when it reopens, tour the place, eat the food, enjoy the shows, and maybe check out some of retro arcade games (who knows if it will be new stuff). Casa Bonita is unlike any Tex-Mex restaurant for sure.
