Omnisphere New Hardware Sound Library
Omnisphere includes a stunning new “Hardware Library” with over 1,600 new patches created by Eric Persing and the renowned Spectrasonics Sound Development team. Each hardware profile has a corresponding set of sounds in the Hardware Library which were specially designed using that hardware synth as an Omnisphere controller. These inspiring new sounds feature a wide range of categories and many have a distinctly ‘classic’ flavor! Notably, this update takes Eric’s classic sound design work from the original 1987 Roland D-50 into completely new sonic territory with Omnisphere’s vast synthesis capabilities. Best of all, the new sounds are available for ALL users, regardless of using the hardware or not!

Most channels that criticize Omnisphere don’t fully understand it. It is overwhelming. If you were looking though presets there are so many that I can see someone being put off by all the cinematic sounds. The sonic extensions are like buying another synth. I have the Seismic Shock one, and it is huge sounding.

The thing is that Omnisphere is a real pro studio tool, in use all over the world by the big artist names and production houses. And of course it’s priced accordingly for that market. I differentiate this from the “plugin kids” market of hobbyist toys with flashy user interfaces, but lacking in the fundamentals we need in studio use.

A little late to react, but it's nice to see another happy Omnisphere user. I am a long time user of Omnisphere (I bought it when it not even was version 2), and I still use it on a almost daily base. So far I have 3 synths from Spectrasonics: Omnisphere 2.8, Trilian and StylusRMX. And those are the most used synths in my stable. The only other soft synth I use very much besides the Spectrasonic ones, is HALion 6. That's a beast on it's own. I was dubbing between Falcon and HALion, but the last one clearly suits my needs by a large margin (I still have some eyes on U-he Zebra though). I certainly going to buy more stuff from Spectrasonics in the near future. If that will be one or more of those Sonic Extensions, of Keyscape depends a bit on my needs. I will probably buy both in the long therm, but it's a difficult choice witch one will be first. Anyway - Are you still a happy user after two months of use? I really hope so...

Def, after a couple months it’s my favorite software synth to date! The Sonic Extensions are really useful and fun. Always something just right for a project in one of them. Followed by Serum, and then the Arturia V9 Collection since the Sale through NI shrsl.com/3vq7e - been using a lot of the JUN -6V synth modeled after the Juno-6. Love the arps of the 6V. Lots of great software. New sounds to explore. Always a joy to use.

If you like Omnisphere you should check out one of the old PCM synths. Eric Persing made tons of patches for everything from the D-50 -> JD-800 -> JD-990 -> JV-1080 -> JV-2080 -> XV-5080. The D-50 had two waveforms per patch, but everything after that was 4-layer. They all have a lot of similarities. The XV-5080 is 32-part multitimbral with two LFOs and multiple envelopes per layer, and 3 global FX sends + chorus/reverb... so that's about 132 LFOs at once. The funny thing is that Roland never had an arpeggiator even on the Integra 7. It's cool that they added one to Omnisphere. And all the E-Mu rack synths are like being in a different world where Eric Persing was replaced by Depeche Mode and a bunch of nerds making patches for the Emulator II on floppy disks, and it evolved into rack synths with a market split between hip-hop producers and UK movie/TV/video game music producers. There's no version of Omisphere for that world, though. Just really bad sample libraries trying to play the patches with no modulation.

What a marvelous creation such a deep and rich sound, limitless, expansive and multidimensional. Few instruments I know have achieved this kind of depth and mastery of sound. Nonetheless don’t people think it is such a great shame that just very few people in our living time get to use and play this hugely marvelous human creation? I’m not a musician but an instrument than would be played just by a very few cos of its restrictive price range where it can go? It’ll be mostly unheard. Imagine what great music could be done with it if it would be accessible to those musicians out there? What it bothers me the most is that quite a bit of the underpinning technologies and knowledge behind the hood are concepts and ideas that we inherited from the past FOR FREE like math’s, algebra, geometry, sound design just to mention a few. I mean is just sad and unfair that marvelous things like this instrument are locked away for most of us cos we don’t have the means to afford it.

Dear, WaveBits. This is possibly important. I am a person who sees a color-shape for note. These perceptions have led me down a vast rabbit-hole of research and experimentation into the nature of hearing. I wound up created alternate circle of 5th charts, a Honey-comb keyboard to read my music, as well developing what I call my Theory of Pitch Psychology. I was actually tuning to A-432 Hz reference pitch even before computers could do eMail. ANYWAY, pitch is extremely important to my work. Money is no object, but do you recommend me starting with Logic (i'm experienced with computer DAWS), or jump into Omnisphere. There is this intellectual who recently created was might be the ultimate fix to equal temperament. He calls it Precise Temperament, and it sound amazing. So, my goal is to combine this with the Hermode tunig setting on Logic or Omnisphere. It seems like a no-brainer to just get Omnisphere for Mac, but I'm afraid it might be overkill. Also, do you think it would be beneficial to have both programs? - Signed, "Desperately Seeing Muses," at _The Acoustic Rabbit Hole_

How do you think about this in comparison to U-he, Native Instruments, Arturia, and UVI? You said it better than everything else you had, but what other syns do you have?
@WaveBits
@WaveBits Жыл бұрын
Hey Amunah! I have every synth you mentioned except UVI. And I enjoy different aspects of each of them. Overall Omnisphere and Serum have been the two synths used most in the tracks I plan on putting out publicly. Both Omnisphere and Serum just feel and work right for me. It’s going to be different for each music maker, but I find Omnisphere’s expansive sounds, Sonic Extensions, and deep capabilities make it the strongest among them all. Serum is fantastic for all my bread and butter sounds. Native Instruments is great for Sampled Libraries, Drum Expansions, and Play Series Instruments. Arturia is amazing for legendary synths and sounds with a modern twist. All have their unique benefits! I just got the chance to start using Arturia’s V9 Collection recently and I’m impressed with the new JUN-6V. It’s in my newest track a lot for its beautiful arp sounds. I’m grateful for all these products and I never feel lacking for inspiring sounds. But it’s important to be super selective on what sounds right for YOU. I’ve watched hundreds of hours of reviews, tutorials, and promo videos over the years to find the plugins that personally work best for what I want out of music. It’s important to be decisive and experimental at every stage, always exploring but deciding what it actually is that you like from these products unique workflow, features, and sound sets. Hope this helps!

@WaveBits
@WaveBits Жыл бұрын
Hey Lee, The price is high and never comes down. But Omnisphere is great for Dance! The catalog of sounds it contains is very robust. My biggest realizations with using Omnisphere since November is the level of fidelity and quality of sounds in Omnisphere. Because it combines Samples from very unique Sources, as well as Analog and Virtual Synthesis with a big library of built-in fx you get a tool that is capable virtually anything. The Browser is handy for creating Projects within Omnisphere to help you sort your favorite Sounds as you explore the he vast array of Omnisphere patches. I have also thoroughly enjoyed the new Sonic Extensions, between Nylon Sky, Unclean Machine, Undercurrent and Seismic Shock these are some of the most colorful and rich Patches I’ve ever played. If you consider getting Omnisphere, def look at Interest-free Payment Splits you can use. I use Payment Splits all the time when investing in expensive Plugins and Gear. zZounds has this option to break up total cost and split it in 4 payments for the boxed version: www.zzounds.com/a--3979391/item--SPCOMNISPHERE2 My biggest advice is to spend hours watching videos and listening to demos wherever you can find them. Tutorials can be hit or miss, because it is an expensive and robust tool. But I find Omnisphere my most prized tool to date! Hope this helps ❤️

Also we still ship our digital product in a box... because the user needs to know that they "really have something serious here"... I mean, like a real product to put your hands on. Omnisphere is still my favorite sound generator overall, but there's this unexplainable experience I have with it... it's the breadth and depth of options functionally and preset-wise that make it a task to incorporate when I'm inspired in the moment and riffing on the spot. I find it hard to nail down and get the upper hand with it. I find I'm using Teletone Audio plugins a lot more lately. I like that each of their instruments really focuses on the most inspiring set of 50-70 presets per instrument, making it feel more graspable and inspiring in the moment. Hope that makes sense!
