Well, I pulled the trigger about a week ago on this... It's honestly the best synth purchase I've ever made. Easily. What an incredibly powerful instrument this is. I instantly started programming patches, because the user interface is so intuitive! Some folks think this synth is made just for big movie soundtrack pads and stuff, but nah. It can do some AMAZING simple synth sounds, and at the highest quality possible.

Just found this channel. Brilliant first video. Omnisphere is the only soft-synth I’ll ever need. I can take a sound recorded on my phone, import that sound into Omnisphere and then sculpt in whatever direction I want. From massive hits and explosions to drones with or without required musicality to soft sine sounds with sweeping filter, porches, panning, or any of the over 50 different Omnisphere Fx which are also often at Soundtoys quality levels. Or I can just use the Soundtoys 5 Fx inside (thanks to Bitwig) to do whatever I can think of with the fewest steps plausible back inside of Omnisphere. We are very lucky these days.

It is really hard to make a very complex sound in Omnisphere, so atm I can only make more basic sounds, but it works really well into my electronic compositions. It doesn't have to be utterly complex always. :) nice video!

Thanks Woody much appreciated. In fact your first videos on Omnisphere inspired me really to invest in it. And like many others here agree that it is one hell of an instrument. Thanks for this video as well. It is a bit daunting but this is an excellent and well done. It has helped me a lot already. Great introduction. And yes please keep going as you get deeper.

@@WoodyPianoShack When you click on Diagnostics what number of factory patches do you see there. On mine its 9,223. I asked Spectrasonics about it and they said there are two sets of figures. The 9223 number and also the other number for the factory sound sources provided which is 4911. Add these for 14,134 all up.

I've just bought Omnisphere after watching many tutorials on it over the last few weeks. I bought it due to watching some vids on the pads and plucks it has for trance music. I've no idea atm how to find these trance patches on the patch browser however after watching lots of tutorials. Very complicated but the sounds I've stumbled across sound great. Would just like an easier search option for presets

Hi Woody, Omnisphere is a very interesting instrument. Omnisphere's sounds have a certain heft I'm missing from many other plugins. I don't want to name any names. The usual suspects, you know? lol I listened to some Omnisphere sounds, chords and backgrounds. When I compare it to some other soft-synths, Omnisphere is in a whole other league. It has the refined sound of a commercial recording. While others in direct comparison might fall flat and sound like home recording. If I understand it right, Omnisphere is specialized in backgrounds, pads, spheres and such. That doesn't have to be bad. I'm thinking of setting the stage for a song. Setting the stage with a solid fundament. And then bring in a vocalist or live musicians. Missing synth-instruments like piano bass or drums can be acquired elsewhere, there is a big market. And then there is sampling, that every decent DAW (like Ableton Live 😀) should already have. The most important part for a solid musical fundament (as far as keyboards) is the ability to play the piano and compose. I never learned to play the piano, and that's a disaster. I found my way around, I even recorded music in a studio at one time. But all that was limited. Long story short... Hah, too late. 😑😄 I wanted to suggest to you, if you want to do something for music as such: Campaign the importance of learning to play the piano and to acquire some composing skills. Be it with a teacher or with online courses. Tell the mostly younger audience, if you don't know how to play the piano, all the software synthesizers you can find out there ARE WORTHLESS! Learning to play the piano comes first, long before gathering software and instruments! If they can play the piano, it opens up a whole world for them. You can demonstrate not being able to play the piano, by trying to play a keyboard with boxing gloves. lol I'm impressed by Omnisphere. I had to think what a skilled keyboarder like Steve Porcaro could get out of it. 🙂

For me there are 2 kings when I’m making music, my Korg Kronos( just because it’s at my fingers already) and Omnisphere. I also own a Nord stage 3 and the following vsts : Diva(love it so much), Serum, Arturia pigments, etc… But Omnisphere together with Keyscape and Trilliam are the king of VST. if I was forced to choose one VST and 1 keyboard it’s my powerful Korg Kronos and Omnisphere( with Keyscape of course).😅

Pro tip: Don't waste your time with these "sample-based" Rompler-Hybrid synths that limit your sound creation possibilites and waste storage space with their multi-gigabyte sample libraries. Instead, just invest in a top of the line professional synth like: u-he Diva/Zebra/Hive/Repro, etc., Dune 3, Gforce OB-E/ImpOSCar 2, Phase Plant, Spire, or even a golden oldie like Sylenth1, and never look back.
@arcanics1971
@arcanics1971 Жыл бұрын
Hi, I'm sure nobody would disagree that the synths mentioned are great. But... we've already established that despite having many preset sounds, Ominsphere is in fact a fully functioning synth that allows complete sound design from scratch as well as far more options than many of its competitors (see Woody's video about Omnisphere not being just a rompler.) Also, what works for one person is not necessarily what's best for another.
