I will never fly Spirit ever again. I had a flight from Oakland to Las Vegas which was cancelled. The agent said that due to bad weather the flignt was cancelled. I looked at the forcast, and the weather was "windy." No other airlines cancelled their flight...

The only time I flew was with spirit and they're alright, they're honestly not bad. The only extra fee I had to pay was with the luggage but it wasn't the worst only $50 or $75 if you go over. The trick tho is taking advantage of the free backpack and stuffing as much as you can in there, without it being too much.

I always fly Ryanair because they are cheap. They allow me to see my family far more than if they didn’t exist. If you know how to pack light and get your boarding pass on their app you won’t have any problems. I love them!

Spirit is awesome. Flew with them, I hate flying and I was at ease for the most part. 😅 yes, they charge you for baggage and drinks and such but the tickets are cheap. 🤷🏽‍♂️

I’ll say this though, spirit customers tend to be a lot more chill than other airlines, it’s a part of the experience that I think gets over looked a lot. I was late once and barely made my spirit flight, but when I came running up to the gate I got cheered for making it from other passengers! The gates just feel less anxious to me.

My husband and I flew spirit from Chicago to LA in February 2020. We were visiting from New Zealand. The flight was excellent. Ran totally on time ( the weather was bad in chicago). No extras. Fun staff. Spot prizes on board. I had a couple of bloody Mary's at no charge. No extra charges for hand luggage. Ticket was cheap. As a low cost airline I'm not sure what people expect. But for us it was above our expectations. Well done

Back when they started out they'd advertise destinations they flew to that were in completely different cities/countries to where the plane actually landed and sneak the real destination in the small print. Flights to Copenhagen would land in Malmö, Brussels flights would land in Charleroi and a flight to Paris would land in Beauvais.

Actually, Frontier is the most hated. I've flown Spirit many times. Never had one problem. Spoke to customer service many times, just recently I may add. My 79$ ticket included a checked bag and personal item. Never once, was I charged for printing my ticket at the airport. Dunno what your doing differently, but I'm not complaining. At all. 🤷‍♀️

For being a hated company, it’s odd the major carriers are copying their policies. They offer “basic economy” which is no different from Sipirir- no checked bags, no large carry ons, no advanced seat assignments, etc. I actually flew cross country for $129 roundtrip and it was not a lot different from United or Delta basic economy- except Spirit was on time and the seats didn’t recline. It was worth paying half price.

They're actually a ULLC, Ultra-Low Cost Carrier and they offer really cheap flights. They're great if you don't want all the extra conveniences that are built in to the other carrier's prices.

Spirit is one of only a few direct jet services we have access to. So far they've never lost our bags or been late to arrive or depart. To this day...the 2 worst nightmare flights I've ever experienced were on United and Delta. It took Delta 30 hours to get me home from Phoenix to Cleveland....including a canceled flight and sleeping in a really cheap and dirty hotel 45 min away from ATL. As someone else on this thread pointed out...other airlines are going to figure out how to offer the basic ticket to travel then pay as you go if you add features.

The reason you have to pay for anything else is it’s a ultra low cost companies. Basically any other ULCC company’s like Allegiant Frontier Easy Jet etc have it like this. The point of a ULCC is to just pay for a bare ticket, anything else is don’t needed unless you want it.

My experience with spirit ended up me avoiding it moving forward. They have cheaper tickets, but they make you pay about 70 for your second carry on. Not only that, their overhead bins are way smaller than normal. I rode with them once or twice and I never did it again. Honestly not worth it.

As a person who has flown Spirit Airlines, they are not that bad, but the price for bags is quite bad.

Flown with them for over a decade. Never had any issues. Gets me where I need to be cheap. People that complain don’t read the fine print
