Why SpongeBob's Early Episodes Are So Memorable

I think that people on a subconscious level can tell when passion and effort is put into something. This isn't specific to Spongebob, you can see the exact same thing with early Simpsons and early Family Guy, 2 shows that are also memorable and quotable albeit wildly different shows than Spongebob. Spongebob seasons 1-3 (and some of 4) feel like they had simple stories they wanted to tell and the writing went through multiple drafts to make everything work and be funny, quotable and memorable. Spongebob today just feels like Nick keeping the show alive to make money with the most basic plots they can get away with to make scenes happen.

Why will you not twice seasons 4 and 5 any recognition!?

Season 4 and 5 are great but I wanted to focus on the episodes that Stephen Hillenburg helped create

@@michaelcaravette I'd be up for a commentary on the later seasons! I wonder, if part of why we enjoyed the first seasons is because of the Contrast it had to what was happening in life and other shows. Perhaps, the contrast has remained the same in spirit, but it is contrasting modern life and modern shows today? Doubt it, but if it were the case I wouldn't even know since I haven't watched the later seasons.
