VFX artists do. But that takes a ton more work than most of the other options listed

They got the number from the onet it's the national job website which takes averages from all of the US. The difference in it could be from your location like the difference between a digital artist who works in Wyoming vs a artist that works in New York

This was a good vid but around 3 minutes lost my interest. It was very repetitive and I felt like I hadn’t learned anything new or not obvious. You’d think that a video on “digital arts” would have been more people and art focused to gain attention and tell a story that grabs your attention right away. This video was long and boring, I wouldn’t trust digits art advice from a video that can’t even keep my attention, just felt like they had a long script to go through and didn’t make this through the lens of a digital artist

Easy answer: Don’t go to college if this is what you’d like to pursue. If you insist on going to college, use it to get some (expensive) backup skills in other fields.

I disagree with this. Digital Arts/Media at certain universities has focuses for career paths such as game design or other forms of interactive media. Specifically, game design is a career path were going to a university that has a high profile degree for it can be beneficial when trying to get into the industry. In cases such as that, a digital arts/media degree is not a waste of money.

Bachelor's in art related fields are often necessary for a resume to get an animation job (vfx, game animation, tv animation, etc). If you're freelance, sure. But even then....... it's a really good idea to actually go to school if you can.

@@HiddenMongoose 3d artist for games here. You don't need a degree for anything entertainment related. Portfolio that proves your skills is all that matters. Doing a degree course may help you create that portfolio, but it's not a requirement for any creative studio. The majority of those actively working in the arts are self taught.

@@Gardenia-jm7nx You can and the guy I was responding to was saying to not go to college. The professional game industry wants to see that piece of paper or that you shipped industry games. All I was saying is that college is important if you are in a good program or getting a high profile degree. Of course you can learn all the skills without college so it really depends on the individual's situation. In my situation a high profile degree is important for me.
