Latin wasn't offered when I went to high school---only Spanish and French. However, my aunt died at 91 years old, and she studied Latin for four years in high school---and each year she won the Latin Prize. For her, Latin was a lifelong passion. She did crossword puzzles in Latin until her late 80s when her eyesight failed. Her Latin texts were like her old friends---a bit worn for wear but always ready for a visit. I'm glad Latin is still being taught, and students are finding meaning and purpose in Latin studies.

Wow, I have always thought that Latin helped me in my computer career, but never heard anyone else say it. I feel so affirmed, lol.

Weird. I got into programming a little bit after I started studying Latin. I had tried years ago but it just didn’t make sense to me before.

Funny how someone can be so cocky about his Latin abilities, and at the same time, have such an abhorrent pronunciation.

He seems less cocky and more confident, and his pronunciation seems ok by Sydney Allen standards.

Don't be silly. No one knows for sure what the true pronunciation of the ancient Latin speakers was. There were no dictaphones in their time.

Lovely. In Ancient Rome, and Rome (after Christ), some generals, soldiers, and Emperors were Ancient Blacks. Many Christians. So, it’s great when blacks study classics, Latin and Greek.
