I think Suisei designed an avatar that she felt suited her best. And she wouldn't be who she is if she'd gone with a different design. Sui-chan also notoriously doesn't approve of lewding her, knowing of course that she can't prevent it. But it lends credence to a desire not to be sexualized. That all being said, as someone who prefers busty girls, I still think her avatar is lovely to look at. She's not a flat board like what some people claim, just a more petite package.

There is a rule in contracts where both parties will expressly state what they want to place in their deals... i have a hunch cover owns this hoshimachi suisei model, but the old suisei model that she created is is still owned by suisei herself. Suisei and cover definitely shook on that and seems like there is no problem...unless of course, cover may have also agreed with suisei that she may have created her model amd she still owns it. It is really all about how the contract is expressed, and implied. It differs for each party, and im pretty sure cover is reasonable about this and they don't force a type of contract where they are compelled to accept or reject that kinda contract which explains why the talents are all happy.

At lot of it really depends on the kind of deal she made with Cover when she joined and its impossible to know exactly how her contract was set up or how it differs from that of the other girls. The most reasonable assumption is that she still has ownership of the character, but the newer models that were created for her after joining Hololive are probably owned by cover. Although I recall it being mentioned at some point by her that the file for her older model was lost, so she can't use it again even if she wanted to. But I suppose in theory if she went indie again, she would be able to continue being Suisei and not need to create a new character for the model like a few other notable ex-hololive girls. But she would probably still need to re-commission a new model to use. There is also the matter of all the original songs that she's produced which almost certainly involved financial support from Cover.

She was let into hololive very unconventionally, and she absolutely took her model with her into it, and therefore it is obvious that her contract will be substantially different to the other girls regarding her model. After a while, she got a "better" more updated model which fit with Hololives idol theme better, but her own model was the base for it, and hololive talents normally don't have a say in that. But this is ambiguous for what it means in terms of model ownership. Cover is a big company, and Suisei was not in a position of negotiating strength, so it seems significantly more likely that Cover paid for her newer model and own it, since it is a major liability for the talent to be able to take that with them after building the brand with Cover. On the otherhand, just because this is the thinking about normal joining procedures doesn't necessarily mean it applies in this unusual case, after all normally Cover supplies a brand new model right from the beginning. Suisei's model was already going to be in use for a good while and since the designs are so similar her not owning the newer model doesn't matter that much in terms of brand anyway. At the same time, she was originally brought on to INNK not hololive, which means Cover were much more interested in her singing potential (and thus music rights), and so it is likely that they focused on those rather than her model, which is evidenced by her being allowed to continue with her own model to begin with. Finally, I think it is still more likely that Cover owns her current model, on the assumption that Cover paid for it and Suisei didn't cover that cost personally (or having it taken out of her pay). Because if she owned it, she would probably have to have paid a big sum and I don't think she has ever mentioned that? On the other hand I think I recall that she has accidently had her own model erased (which is sad, cause it was all her own work and nice to see) and most importantly didn't appear to be fussed. This of course doesn't explicitly mean anything either. She REALLY apprieciates Cover for giving her her chance, so its entirely possible that she just doesn't see any need for a back-up model in case anything happens between her and the company. Alternatively, she might not be fussed not because she doesn't want a potential back-up, but because she owns her current model anyway. But the point is we don't know and can't know the ownership unless she says something.

Honestly, I didn't really look much into Suisei when I first discovered Hololive because I tend to remember the ones that are memeable, peko.
