I think what makes Super Mario Galaxy great is that, of all games that have double jumps, this game justifies it the most. Mainly because that the gravity mechanic is inherently disorienting. Hence the relaxing need for the double jump.

I've always said it, but this game has ALWAYS been my favorite game, from the memories from playing with my brother and sister, to replaying it when I'm older and seeing just how, brilliant everything was, the excellent soundtrack, to the levels and mechanics just the feel you get from the galaxy and graphics (which they absolutely nailed, even on wii) and most importantly the emotional impact thay this game has, this game just, never misses, if I ever had to like recommend a single videogame to someone, it'd be this Great video once again, the effort you put in it really shows. This game is also my favorite! I've had it since I was a child, but it's just awesome every time I play. I really love how calming Gateway Galaxy is, how emotional Rosalina's story is... And the soundtrack! The soundtrack is amazing! It's like you can see the levels just by listening to the music. And the tracks supremely convey emotion.

This game (if you can call it that its a magnum opus) is the only mario related media to have made me cry. Like, honestly, whole heartedly, Cry. Theres nothing quite like seeing everything you worked for to just, vanish. Then immedietly be remade. Witnessing a creation is an experience that in my eyes, isn't to be taken lightly. Unbelievable. I know I’m way late to the game here, but I just bought a Wii as I’ve lately had a hankering to play some classic Nintendo games. But besides the classics like Super Mario Bros and Donkey Kong Country I wanted to see what else was out there and I saw this game. In my art history class at my college, I had to do an essay about something in nature that was important to us, and I chose the sky. A big reason I did was because I thought it was a very beautiful thing that could capture almost any different vibe through its appearance, and I learned that from a young age through Super Mario *fuckin* Galaxy. So, you better believe I spent 2/3 of that essay talking about my favorite video game ever. So I appreciate this video validating how I felt as a kid (and continue to feel everytime I replay it). Believe it or not, I actually ended up getting an A on that paper, and my teacher was impressed that I could tie nature to a video game like that.

unfortunately galaxy 2 was quite lackluster for almost all features except level design, the levels were incredible maybe even better than the first, and the green stars add alot of extra content, unfortunately they really lacked out on the overall quality of the game since it was surposed to be a dlc and not a sequel, therefore the story, the ambience and the emotional attachment were such a downgrade, and the extra content that it provides does quite make up for it since quality is always over quanity.

As a guy who played galaxy 2 first, I appreciate the first game’s personality and atmosphere, but the second game is literally my favorite game ever. IMO it’s just as magical as the first game. Atmospherically the first game is better but man the second game is just as good if not better .
