CR England rushed me through their school in 2 weeks. Some fellow students took 3 or even 4 weeks. I was with a trainer for 30 days, but he did have one year experience. Then I was paired with a more experienced driver who after 2 months suddenly called the driver manager to say "I quit". He hung up his phone, climbed out of the driver's seat using three points of contact, and walked away. I drove the truck alone for the remainder of my year at the company. Statistically, CR England beats out Swift (not just on KZbin). So it's probably not only rushing people through training and subpar trainers. Something CR England did with us that I have seen not done at Swift, is train the students in a working yard with CR England drivers and outside drivers coming and going and swapping trailers and parking for the night. I've only ever seen Swift students training alone in one truck in a very large parking lot.

At least he used the 3 points of contact to exit the truck. Safety first.

I went through swift training school in corsicana tx and they are certified to actually give the driving skills test and people I seen that I wouldn't trust to drive my car get passed for a CDL or get it by sleeping with an instructor it was sad because one guy literally had major mental issue I mean got in trouble for walking through town naked taking a crap on side walk in from of hotel we were staying in and he was passed and got his CDL s so they don't give a shit about how dangerous a driver is as long as they get their money

I've seen multiple drivers walking around naked and crapping in public . Plenty of drivers have major mental issues. This does not necessarily make them a bad driver

I've been with swift 7 months now no complaints the academy was good my mentor was ok that stuff could of been better but no real complaints

That’s actually great to hear! As I mentioned at the end of the video, I don’t actually think Swift is a bad company. Their training might be a little rushed because of the size of their company but good drivers (like yourself) can thrive in their system.

If you live in a major metro area with a community college with a cdl program go their it's the cheapest way to get a cdl and a base knowlege of commercial driving.

That statement about the trainer having six months of experience is true CR England does the same

I've 7 months (average about 2k weekly) with no issues so far. I recommend to go to a driving school, not mega carriers ones, then joining then to get OTR experience. I had two Oo mentorship (3 weeks/ 160 hrs out of 200) great trainers. Fyi, Mega carriers tends to have more driver's events since stats are set for. You can't compare 18,000 drivers with companies with 10, 100, or 1,000. I'm here till I get 1-2 years if decide not to continue as Oo, then, I'll join Cowan, Prime lease programs. USXpress I can't in my area (they only offer $G and I won't do it). I did research.

It's not about the school or the company it's the person behind the wheel these schools that you paid $10,000 and they put a thousand people in one class you don't know anything by the time you get out almost the same thing like Swift but at least you don't have to pay for it and you get on hand training
@Gill222 жыл бұрын
That's true but I genuinely find school trainings with simulators and coursework to be much more beneficial for new, young drivers than just throwing drivers into a 3 week accelerated program to fill trucks. Most people will only look at the cost of the schools but fail to realize that it's going to make them more knowledgable than 99% of the industry. Also, you're guaranteed a job as a truck driver so you'll be able to pay off the $10,000 pretty quickly. Swift and other mega carriers WILL pay for your training fees however, that's only if you work for them for 6 months - 2 years at like a below market wage of $0.42/mile. You're going to end up paying tens of thousands of dollars. Either you do it now, or you could spend a lot more later.

Lol they dont love recruitng! Every time i call they hang up on me or switch me around 3 or 4 times to dif recruiters.they dont wanna talk
@Gill222 жыл бұрын
That’s very odd. It’s highly unlikely any company that operates in a tight labor market would reject potential drivers without a reason.

there is no shortage of experienced qualified drivers.... there's a shortage of those guys willing to put up with a B.S. rip-off industry.

I don’t think swifts has the worst truck drivers. I have been driving for several years. I have a clean MVR, never failed or refused and drug test, etc. I applied for Swift. Swift also have million mile drivers with no accidents. Swift does not have the worst drivers. Everybody eyes is watching Swift waiting for drivers to make a mistake or have a accident. Then everyone records for views on KZbin and a pat on the back.
@HoustonBrown1963 Жыл бұрын
The point is they put drivers on the road undertrained. Sure they have good drivers - they just have a lot more bad drivers

Because they more trucks for one
@Gill222 жыл бұрын
Yep exactly! They do have a lot more trucks so obviously they'll be in more accidents but also just trying to fill ~20,000 trucks... they're not going to have the best training for new drivers.
