I’m also considering to buy a MacBook next year, I agree your point of view. Good video

Thank you! I found the switch to be very easy, i got use to it in a couple of days. Comparing it to the other one, this laptop, my macbook pro there's so much faster. But when you compare it to a PC it is lacking on GPU performance. That was the only thing I noticed. Are you waiting for the M5?

4:36 Nice video and congratulations on your awesome new device! :) Just a small correction since so many reviewers get this wrong, because they base their opinion on looks rather than facts. I'm guessing you've only seen the Nano display in KZbin videos. At first glance, the Nano display may look a bit washed out in the videos, but in reality it is not (or at least only a tiny bit for a very few people, who are sensitive to it) ...thats due to reflections, how the light is hitting the camera lense, editing etc. Thats why many people think the color accuracy and contrast are worse, but that's actually not the case. There's a good video by a KZbinr called ArtIsRight. He measured the color accuracy and contrast of both displays in detail using "Calibrate" and the Nano display was not only just as good, but even slightly better than the glossy one. We're just used to the slightly oversaturated glossy displays. But nonetheless, both the glossy and Nano are great displays and you have a great device that you'll probably enjoy for years to come! :)
@DenisDisdis25Күн бұрын
Glad you liked it! Yes, the nano texture looks washed out in videos. I also compared a normal display and a nano texture display in the Apple Store. Yes, you do get a more saturated look in the normal display, but you have reflections; in the nano texture, it looks slightly less saturated with a white tint on the display. they both have their pros and cons. At the end of the day, they are the same displays with one having an extra coating on top, so they should have the same results. But I preferred the normal glass mostly because of the price. While almost every monitor is sold has a anti reflexions coding, it hurts to pay extra for a MacBook one, that's the Apple way i guess. Color accuracy might be the same, but when you look at it normally doesnt it affect the contrast because of the defused glare you get?
@jdsd_Күн бұрын
@DenisDisdis25 To me, it looked like it affected the contrast maybe by a few percent, but interestingly, the measurements tell a difference story. But I guess you can't go wrong with either :)

You can change the scrolling direction in settings by turning off “Natural Scrolling”. You can also have multiple Finder tabs and windows.
@DenisDisdis25Күн бұрын
Thank you for the help. I did some research beforehand and I did try to switch off the natural scrolling. The keyboard and the mouse are inverted. When you switch it off now, the keyboard doesn’t work properly. Due to my research, I found the app "Scroll Reverser" to fix this issue. As for the Finder another person helped me out in the comments. The keyboard shortcut is Option>command>N. Cheers! Happy 2025.

Been using a surface pro 7 for undergrad and graduate applied Statistics programs. About to graduate this coming semester and already accepted a job offer, so I want to reward myself! Will pull the trigger soon, and can't wait. I don't do photo or video editing but all of my machine learning work requires more than my surface can handle. Oh BTW, you can change the scrolling via system settings/system preferences/trackpad or mouse settings/. The default behavior is called "natural scrolling" on macOS so just uncheck this and its changed, and you can delete your third party app and save some space :)
@DenisDisdis252 күн бұрын
That's great! Congratulations on graduating and getting the job offer. It will be a gigantic upgrade from a surface pro. For know all i do is videos and photo editing but when i take my cybersecurity classes than i might use the full potential of the mac. I did try unchecking the natural scrolling, but than it swaps the trackpad, it's either one or the other. Are you waiting for the M5?

cmd + X works only for text. File management doesn't allow cutting files but "moving" which changes the directory of the file or said otherwise copy and delete it from the previous directory when the operation is successfully finished which keeps the original file if error accures while moving file. In case of error in Windows or Linux while moving (cutting) file you may lose it.

4:43 Also possible on Windows with Smartphone Link
@DenisDisdis25Күн бұрын
Thank you for the feedback. I have used a different type of apps to transfer files from a Windows to a a smartphone. The latest being Intel unison. They are never as reliable as AirDrop, but I heard that smartphone link also works well for some people. Which app do you use?
@jdsd_Күн бұрын
@DenisDisdis25 I use Smartphone link and it creates a mirrored version of your phone on your PC from which you can just drag and drop files, similar to the Macs, but I have to admit it's not as good and reliable as Apples IPhone integration. I will actually buy a Mac book Pro M4 Pro in a few days, my first Apple device, after many years of windows, since I want that software reliability and battery life. I'm pretty excited, let's see how I like it :D

A modicum of research would have dealt with the majority of your cons. For example, just go to the trackpad settings to change the default scrolling away from "natural." The Finder can be adjusted as well.
@JustAnotherBrotherHDКүн бұрын
No that doesnt work because for some reason Apple tie scrolling on the trackpad and the mouse together so you invert it for one, it messes the other one up

ive never had a mac OR a pc before, only a shitty dell laptop that the school provides us, so i cant really speak on the specs of either. but if youve been a pc user and are just not dipping into the mac space, i feel like the softwares are similar enough that you would be able to find you way around the software, but also be pleasantly surprised with all the nuances that apple provides
@Sam-jh4nf2 күн бұрын
macbooks definitely seem like they would be better for software designing, as you said you used them in a previous class. even though its not a laptop, the ipads and apple pencil’s pressure reading and fluidity feels good, especially for drawing. i do think apple is better for creative projects, just because theres so many tools at your disposal and supposed improved specs than higher-end pcs
@Sam-jh4nf2 күн бұрын
the price does seem a bit scary, for $2000 for a laptop, but it definitely would be worth it if you’re constantly using it like you would seem to be doing. especially if youre a student, the macbook would be a pretty hefty investment, but it would definitely be worth it if you can do work and projects on the move instead of having to sit back at your dorm or wherever your abode is to complete any sort of work.

You've had quite the journey with school laptops. You're right, macOS and Windows have some overlap, but those little Apple nuances really do stand out. If you could pick your next laptop, would you go for a Mac or stick with a PC?

Macbook is literally the best personal computer for (everything), only for gaming needs I would get a pc.
@DenisDisdis25Күн бұрын
Exactly, it does everything in a smaller form factor. And after using the Mac, I think buying a console would be a better investment for gaming. I personally don't do much gaming, and the games I play are on all platforms, so there's no point in spending 1-2k on a gaming PC only to later start worrying about system requirements. But it depends on what games you play based on your preference. This is just my thought.

Thanks for your detailed critique. How can someone unfamiliar with a piece of hardware get information about it? Research, and that’s what I did. People who have used it also have varying opinions. Good point. I heard that there might be a design change, and when you look at the current updates, it is most likely going to be a smaller, slimmer, and lighter MacBook. For now, they're all rumors. I'm actually curious about what they’re going to do with the M5 because this was quite the jump from the M3s. I don’t think the display will get any update since they just updated to a 1000 nit with nano texture. Not sure if they are going to do an OLED. What are your predictions?
