What they should have done is give you the ability to hire coaches that boost certain attributes but then let the player do what they like with the tactics. So stupid that it’s illegal to have possession chance creation on tiki taka and your aren’t allowed to press on gegen pressing.

Would you consider a video where you ‘scout’ these play styles to see how they differentiate in game and then recommend formations/instructions/tactics to combat their strengths and exploit their weaknesses? Might add an extra dimension to career modes played on the higher difficulties and give us a reason to actually look at pre-match team reports and play with varying custom styles…

I could be wrong but I think the tactical vision gives in game stat boosts for specific stats depending how good the coaches are at that vision (e.g. wingplay gives strikers better heading stats and gives wingers better crossing and pace) Also, if you are going to use one, wingplay gives you a lot of freedom anyway

I was going to say the same thing, wing play does offer a lot of flexibility. Worked out well for me because I like crossing in balls anyways, so that tactic was perfect. Tried a few others and didn't care for the limitations, and didn't like the way my players were moving around on the pitch.

Thing is with wing play is that if you want to condense your midfield and play a possession retention-style, you can’t because you have to stretch the width of your team

I am so lucky. My tactic and formation that I use for 2 years fit in a Tiki Taka tactical vision! So i don’t have any problem with this feature

I’d say just use balanced, allows you to do whatever with instructions on players and tactics themselves barring keeping the 3 tabs on balanced

If using custom tactical vision, will the coaches I pick matter since on coach has a custom play style? Just try to get as many 5 stars as possible?

Not sure if you’ve figured it for yourself by now, but when I go down the custom route I usually just choose coaches that line up with my vision - so if I plan to play tiki-taka/possession-based football, I just hire tiki-taka coaches (usually just expert if I can)

Or to put it another way, the tactical vision and the coaches who apply the specific tactical vision, influence your players/gameplay in a way, even after you set the tactics to custom? Thank you.

I mean if you have all tiki taka coaches and you play custom with direct passing (e.g), the players will behave according to the tactic and the coaches only boost the attributes specific to their tactical vision? Also, if i play custom with Possession chance creation, does it matter if i have balanced coaches or tiki taka coaches?

I made the mistake of selecting standard and it locks you into balanced everything, which equates to my players never making runs or being where i expect them to be on the pitch. So far wing play is the only tactic I have done well with.

unfortunate that we could all see this coming, it is now and has been for a long time EA's M.O. to add these pointless features and heavily market them as something new and exciting when in reality, they don't matter. I do not believe we will ever get anything innovative from EA on any football game ever again. I'd bet a lot of money on that too.
