@sanmeet singh We never chose English. Why would we choose language from other country when Hindi is there but the problem is it was mandatory for us to learn English for job purpose. If Hindi heartland provides us jobs in their areas we'll be happy to learn Hindi coz it is an Indian Language but English has become a global Language so due to globalisation we learnt it and also to converse with ppl from other states in Southern India where Hindi speaking is not common coz we have our own local languages to communicate. Still we except for Tamilnadu followed 3 language formula from 60s coz our rulers from South understand the importance of Unity along side preserving local language and culture. We always had 1st language -Our mother tongue,2nd language-Hindi,3rd language-English and Our mother tongue or English being medium of instruction for other subjects that's the reason many of us can read and write Hindi but we cannot speak Hindi coz we never used it as a language for communication either at home or School. The same 3 language formula was never applied in Northern India. We never stopped showing Hindi films in our theatres in Tier1 and Tier2 cities even though those films were eating into our revenues and never asked ppl from North staying in our cities to learn local language. If Hindi becomes National language with in some years they will take off local languages from schools and make Hindi as medium of instruction along with English then southern states will also be the same as UP and Bihar where they have their own languages but still Hindi is used as a medium of instruction.

Most of the times I’ve experienced Hindi students (even those with Tamil as their mother tongue) throwing shit at Tamil students . They always treated us like alien from some other planet. Hindi is not the national language.The Supreme court has already made this very clear. majority don't speak Hindi. Nobody speaks Hindi in the North-East or the South or Kashmir or Punjab. Hindi and English are the official languages of India. Stop imposing Hindi.
