Ok. This should be a series where Kerri travels the world to various manufacturers that produce mixers, monitors, synthesizers, vinyl, cartridges, etc, etc. He's very genuine and a great narrator.

On that last note, I love my cassette walkman precisely for that process - listening to pick up the slight changes, how it softens the sound of something I have digitally on my laptop. It really gives me an outlet for when I feel digitally overwhelmed. If I could I would buy a reel-to-reel tape machine but unfortunately I'm not blessed with money. Maybe one day if I'm lucky....really enjoyed this - wish I could have experienced it myself.

I wish RTM would bring back 468 tape, it was the most "musical" sounding formulation and was easier to drive on semi pro machines. Unfortunatelty most machines are calibrated for 900 or 911 and RTM needed to cut costs.
@ghal3onАй бұрын
feel the same way. I want to HEAR the tape
@richiereyn21 күн бұрын
I agree, it's my favourite formulation. It's easy enough to recalibrate for another formula, but I just loved the characteristics of 468. I have enough stock to last a while, but eventually, I shall have to switch.
@joselarios257110 күн бұрын
Absolutely. Tape is still my favorite medium and profound in the fact that it's longevity is more sensitive. But I've found tapes with Gems that I have not ever been able to find elsewhere. Including the fact that people used it resourcefully and personally to dub and create for years before DAW.

I remember when I was DJing in the 90s early 2000s and I would bring a professional grade tape deck to a night club to record my set live. Then I went to Mini Disc, and then ultimately straight to Hard Disk. I am still playing on my Technics Turntables and using real vinyl record. Long gone for me are the days of tape though. But yes, You cannot replace the real Analog sound.

Kerri big fan of yours since early 1990s. I did not know you used the Pioneer RT707, 7.5in Reel-to-Reel. I had one that I absolutely loved for many years in my early adolescence, 13 years old, up until University. Then it was stolen from my family home. I long to get another one in good shape. If you come across one can you let me know. I see you have 4 of them in the beginning of the video. Great video!
