To the point where my brother was getting behind because she’d send the boys into the hall so much for “disrupting class.” She ended up getting fired but I just remembered thinking “why does this lady hate boys so much and who tf let her teach if she acts like that?”

The corruption in teacher unions isn't talked about enough. A lot of teachers need to be paid more however they often protect bad teachers and lower requirements for people in the education field to go into teaching while also creating barriers for people who have experience in a subject.

Blame the school board of education, their the ones who are responsible for the low pay for the teachers. First the tax money goes throughout the school board from the taxes, then it goes to the teachers. Most of the tax money is going to the greedy school board of education for their own pocket money. While teachers get curtain percentage of their income which is less than 10%, while the board of education takes some money from the teacher’s paycheck. Teachers needs to be payed more than that, because they aren’t paid enough for this kind of sh*t. Our school board of education needs to clean up their act, and start caring more about their students and their teachers needs, than making it a public mental brainwashed prison, and attempt communist. Teachers needs better pay, because their able to touch a child’s heart. If you gonna blame someone in the school, don’t blame the teachers, blame it all the way towards the board of education.

@PJ Rivera so your going with by what a 16 y.o. said? so every minimum wage work puts in low minimum effort? Lol. And you are saying why should a teacher put in effort when not only the wages are low but you also have all these additional problems? You do know that our teachers wages aren't too off by the rest of the world and the US will spend even more on education (the corruption is another story) So it's not just a wage problem? In addition, teachers salaries aren't a secret. Yet, they decided on the career?

@PJ Rivera your the one that made the "minimum wage=minimum effort argument. Who said anything about working for free? Lol. Like I said before wages or just throwing money wont fix a bad teacher. You really thing being a teacher is easy Bad teachers arent bad because they just feel like it. It is either that no one wants to be a teacher because youre paid nothing And have to deal with ungrateful kids. Or the good teachers are being owerwhelmed with work so they just stop Caring. So only the bad ones are left in public Schools. being a teacher is one of the most mentally challanging job especially when you teach disrespectful, spoiled kids, who are more common theese days because of the shit they see in The internet. And if you dont know many teachers need to work many unpaid extra hours so a lot of them are accually getting less than a minimum wage

My all-time favorite bad teacher story: We had a biology teacher that every single student hated. He was an absolute hard-ass who would always make big shows about presenting his athletic achievements. He would often go out of his way to make the other dudes in the class look stupid. In my junior year we had a career day where many of the guests only talked through a zoom call. Our teacher was out sick but was in the call. We were in a substitute classroom. Our guest was a recent graduate who was pretty chill. He had no idea we were in a substitute’s classroom. During the Q&A, someone asked, “Who was your least favorite science teacher?” He said, “Mr. W without a doubt” Guess who the substitute was?

There are some terrible teachers. But when you get the really good teachers, you start to enjoy life, and just their class in general. Even if their class isn’t something you’re into. Especially in High School, when you’re already in a shit mood most of the days, you start to look forward to certain classes.

For my school at least, the problem was that the teachers didn't have the resources to truly teach. Common Core restricted my teachers to basically follow scripts instead of educating us about something, and since I'm like 99% certain my district council laundered money, they never had the financial freedoms on top of the aforementioned lack of creative freedoms. We were being taught stuff just for the sake of high testing grades, not for us to learn that subject and improve on it. I think the teachers today just lost the motivation to try hard and are just there for the check because they can't do anything else.

I think putting the blame on either teachers or students is not really a good way of thinking about it. The system itself is broken, of course there will be significant issues for both parties. But putting blame on either camp removes the blame from agencies such as school administration and the government. Cutting education funding never ends well, but the blame is placed on either negligent teachers or misbehaving students, avoiding the root cause.

One year, I had this teacher (we’ll call him Mr. B) and he was really a cool guy. However, halfway through the school year, he was replaced by another teacher (we’ll call him Mr. S), and he was just the dictator of his own classroom, and he knew it. He literally knew that people thought of him as a dictator and decided to roll with it. He transferred in for the second half of the year, but the person he replaced stuck around. We (the entire class) talked with the old teacher about plotting a rebellion, and he was onboard with the idea. The new teacher was so unlikable that the old teacher and his students all agreed that they hated the new teacher. Mr. S was so bad that he made Mrs. Umbridge from Harry Potter look tame by comparison.

Depends on where you are. Where I'm from you need a Master's Degree to teach your own classroom, so teachers under 35 are really qualified and good (until the system breaks them). Some places you can just walk in and get the job, which is real bad. There is no consistent metric or filter, so education is a crapshoot, hence why its always a discussion of is it the teachers or is it the students? (the answer is the system, its always the system)

Unfortunately there are a lot of teachers that just show up to survive, and leave. Sometimes the apathy goes both directions, the best method for me is just to be real with my students, and make sure everyone knows I'm here to get them through class, and to adulthood without issue, and if they learn some useful stuff while they're with me, then I'm happy. (Also homeboy is lowkey right that there are some teachers that are not qualified, and it's because the requirement for becoming one get lowered more and more, as teaching becomes worse, and worse compared to the pay).

Damn looking back I can’t say any reacher I had were really that bad. My school was a small one in a mostly Mexican part of California but I can’t think of anything that bad. Kinda glad cus people always have the worst stories of bully or random shit like this like I was just a quiet kid then and most of my teachers were fun. I found how much they currently pay and it’s somewhere around 80+ I’m pretty sure. Areas kind of expensive but it’s just ca at this point.

This kinda remind me of a situation that happend a while back. This NYU professor was recently fired 'cause almost everybody was failing his class. (It was organic chemestry.) His reason for making the class so hard was to "look for the student who truly enjoyed the subject and learning as a whole." That's nice and all but bruh look around who likes to learn anymore. I think it's because of teachers as well not making shit fun or interesting and just tryna make that bag. That's why the kids in other countries liking school phrase hit home for me. Idk sorry for the long post just felt like I had to put this out there. :-)

@@butlazgazempropan-butan11k87 We need a whole overhaul of the educational system tbh. I used to be a teacher. And let me just say, a lot of what we learn is out of date. And we are paid based on how many people pass. Not to teach. We are here to make students who can make the school look good. The school does not care if they learn or not. It is sad. Which is why I stopped working. I could not, in my morality, support a system that didn't actually care to teach.

@@butlazgazempropan-butan11k87 It is not the kids. It is the system. We have a "one size fits all" system. In education, "one size fits all" will never work. And it doesn't. No two students will learn the same. But teachers are expected to teach them all the same, boosting only those who get it and dumping those who do not. "There is no such thing as a bad student. Only a bad teacher".

I think teachers are a small part, don’t get me wrong I’ve had my fair shares of “why do you do this again” but like some try to make it good or actually add knowledge into the class but like the us curriculum is so shit, like American schools are learn this shit get out and good luck in your life American school are the most half assed thing ever, but like teachers are really stuck as far as changing things go. But yeah some people that are teachers shouldn’t teach 💀

In person lecturer teachers are obsolete. Within 20 years all American classrooms will be converted into computer labs with possibly the exception of the primary grades below fourth grade. For one thing, nobody really wants to pay them. This is similar to the technological imperative to replace most traffic cops with surveillance and ticket cameras. And who will monitor the computer labs you might ask? How about babysitters. What credential would you need to be one of those babysitters? How about a high school diploma or at the very most an associates degree in child care. That’s literally all it really is.
