I really want to be more than what I am!, I am looking for a way to give me energy, what's your secret? I read The Medicine Buddha Sutra very often and read a Prayer by Honorable Venerable Master Hsing Yun and in the Prayer I am Praying out loud 12 vows I vow to take and in my Heart I truly mean The Vows and its making me extremely exhausted.....but I feel if I don't Pray out the Vows out loud at least every 5 days I will feel very sick its because I care but I really don't know if I am helping anyone?

not heard a buddhist monk complain quite so much about people simply inquiring about buddhism....somewhat disappointing for me
@deenvadh4199
@deenvadh4199 2 жыл бұрын
Disappointing why? Because you expect all monks to be absolutely perfect Buddhas rather than still imperfect and impatient mortal beings like the rest of us?

Tsem Rimpoche didin't complain about people, he just exposed facts in order to move forward with awareness.

He wasn't attacking lay people, he simply tells it as it is. Imagine teaching in a room full of devoted monks versus teaching in a room full of people like you. Every five minute there would be some body who leave because "oh I'm simply inquiring about Buddhism, I'm not here to listen to 2 hours of dharma". Every 10 minutes someone will leave looking clearly angry thinking "why he complain so much". Think about that. It would be lying if a teacher says he prefer the second audience. Monks are also just human. And even if the teacher is a saint, teaching goes both way. It takes 2 to tango. You cannot teach somebody who isn't willing to learn. I hope you don't take offense and see the point of view. Many people have the wrong perception that a monk must always behave like a saint, must always be happy with all the bs and never complain. It's wrong perception and it misses the point. Spirituality is mainly about taking responsibility for ourselves, not about judging others. If you only listen to sugar-coated words but not harsh-truth, well how would that reflect on yourself?

@@deenvadh4199 I don't expect anybody monk or not to be perfect as that would surely be unfair and unrealistic but I would expect a modicum of wisdom and with wisdom comes understanding and empathy. Its his tone which I found jarring because he actually comes across as somewhat sarcastic and critical of people like myself who dont know everything there is to know about buddhism and are simply looking to learn, so to criticise and admonish people for their lack of experience is surely the antithesis of what Buddha tried to exemplify thats all I'm trying to say. I've certainly never heard or seen the Dalai Lama echo this sort of tone have you?

@@diegoshevek5927 If he wasn't complying then why is there an almost sarcastic and critical tone that he uses which is somewhat aggressive even? If he's " moving forwards with awareness" then surely he should be aware of the fact that his tone is less than encouraging to people that yes may be somewhat ignorant in terms of what to think or how to behave as a responsible Buddhist, but isn't that the reason why they take time to pursue educating themselves by trying to learn with monks!? The best teachers I have always had have been understanding and supportive regardless of my ignorance at the time and that has always led to a much more rapid path to education, understanding and ultimately enlightenment.

This rings true even further than the immediate concerns, for me, I have been expressing my excitement for the dharma to my friends, strangers, relatives and I realize that they only partially listen. I will try my chnage my ways in this regard.

Lay people means those who are not fit for a forced levy. Buddhism have a force of full time workers known as Lama who learn Kung Fu. And then they have a system of forced levy called Sangha, to recruit ordinary civillians when demand for volunteers is more.

@@coolfreaks68 forced levy? Lol what? Who forced people to work or donate to the monastery? Buddhism pulled me out of the depth of depression, saved me from a very dark path. Nowadays I'm a much better person than I've ever been. Out of reverence to the Buddha and Buddhism I respect and try to carry out what the masters instruct. Watch your mouth. Very bad karma!
