As an American, I’m happy to see the patriotism in the comments and that’s what’s beautiful about international sports. But I don’t think the narrator is hating, rather ringing the alarm and if an American said the same thing the reception in these comments would be different. we are lucky to have 3 top 15 players at the same time, we needed all 3 to win this year and in all likelihood we won’t have 3 players that good in 2028 and beyond. So with the worlds talent getting better there is definitely reason to be concerned and if we want to win we need to send our best of the best. No more load management!

I can dig it. These new young men are extremely narcissistic. Tatum feels that he should play bc of his newly minted status of NBA champion? There is the best, and then the best of the best. No one is going to sit down James, Curry, or Durant, for the likes of Tatum. He’s good, but not great. He needs to learn, that the win comes from accepting that the men playing is needed in that moment. It's a one-time shot that should be aimed at to kill, and that's why Embid, Antman, etc.. 8:51 I do agree with this line of reasoning. The NBA is a business and started to go away from the way Americans played the game and became so enamored with how Euros played the game. Euros were always known as soft finesse players but the NBA is seen as less physical than Europe now. That’s a huge self inflicted problem that needs addressing. Silver wants that Euro money though so, he’ll promote their players over the locals.

This is mostly right. You are off on the analysis of traditional centers. The modern pick and roll game combined with high percentage 3-pt shooting and big men who can drive makes old school centers problematic. We saw this in the women’s game with Griner sitting on the bench

The modern NBA players don’t understand FIBA play. Those who played under Coach K, KD, LeBron and Curry know and dominated. They lack FIBA fundamentals, but play the same olympics under NBA rules. The youngins would dominate. It’s like taking a taking Usain Bolt (a career 100m and 200m sprinter) and telling him to run in the 400m within 2 weeks of practice. Yes he will struggle, but given more time he will still win.

@eatcrab95655 ай бұрын
They might stumble during the generational transition, IE the first Olympics without KD/Lebron, but given the talent coming up in the pipeline, I wouldn't bet against them. At least not on the stage they care about, which is the Olympics. Let's call a spade a spade. USA basketball don't take the world cup very seriously, they've been using it as a prolong try out for their Olympics team for nearly 2 decades If people have been paying attention to lower age bracket FIBA, like the U17/U18/U19, they'll find the USA is actually experiencing another talent surge with the likes of Chet Holmgren, Cooper Flagg, Boozer Twins, Dylan Harper, AJ Dybantsa, Darius Acuff.Jr...etc. All of whom were dominant in FIBA play at their age bracket. The truth of the matter is that US just has such a large funnel for talent that they will always have a collective talent advantage, and it really just comes down to whether the organizer can competently organize a program.
@sebastiansandstrom40885 ай бұрын
Ok, so your not getting what he is saying. USA will still have THE BEST and deepest team in the world 2028, BY FAR. The world has some what caught up, but no team is close to the spannish teams with the Gasols, Ibaka and all those talented guards. The problem is that even if the depth of the USA talentpool is astronimcly deeper then any other nations, USA relies heavely on their very top talent, supriesingly more then other nations. This was evident in this years Olympics when they were saved by agening superstars, 3 of the best to ever do it. The 2023 team was a C+ team but immensly better then the competition. Tiny Lithuania kind of sent it's B-team as well, but still defeated the US, which eventually lost three time in that tournament. In 2019 the USA really had no chance against France in the world cup, pr Serbia. You could even see the redeem team struggle before that, when the USA was outplayed by Spain only saved by Kobe. The key difference now is that the traditional american big man who once dominated the NBA is almost extinct and replaced by skilled europeans, mostly cause of how the game has changed. Theese guys also used to be key to US succes in the Fiba game. They outrebounded and outmuscled the opponents in the paint and made it possible for USA to heavely rely on transition and individual skill. When they went small ball last year it was just chaos. Look at the top centers in the NBA now and look at the top rebounders. Davies wont be in LA and they will probably not send Drummond. So, if Antman dosen't turn out to be the son of Jordan, a golden generation of international players, like thoose guys France most likely are sending in 2028, actually could, not only win, but embarres USA on home soil. Serbia almost did it a couple off days ago, against the best team ever assembled. Americans need to learn from theese last tournaments and aknowledge that there might be something wrong about how basketball has been taught and coached. The biggest flaws that I can see is off ball defense and the inabillity to play team basketball when the driving lanes are not as open.

Dawg You really dislike USA basketball or the NBA that badly huh? You love to keep over stating the significance of a USA close victory or the few times they lose as if this means something more significant when in reality it truly doesn't. I don't know if you know this, but do you know that Michael Jordan has actually lost games in his NBA playing career? I know you must think that cannot be true based off position of being talented and the best player at the time or ever whichever one you want to believe he is. Do you know he actually lost a playoff series in his NBA career? I know you can't believe that. Like I don't think you truly understand how basketball actually works. The USA's men's team in NBA players are not going to win every single game they play on top of that too just because they have the most talent does not mean they're going to win every single time. Based off of your own facts that you presented Jokic, Giannis & Luka should win every single title ever between the three of them because they're the most talented players in the NBA now. You see how that sounds ridiculous because it's more than just simply talent. The USA's men team typically do not compete in tournaments with each other in their off-seasons like international players tend to do. You bring up the fact of their records in the fiba tournaments, but you seem to don't even acknowledge the fact that most of those guys don't play back-to-back fiba tournaments for a reason. Also, you have no idea what potentially can be coming down the USA pipeline between now and 2028 as well as in the future, to simply say, because the three best players on this current Olympic team will not be available that all of a sudden now they're going to not win is so beyond asinine. It's beyond ridiculous because you have no idea what's coming up in the future and that goes for the international team as well. It's like you are trying way too hard to make the Euro teams relevant when the usa are not disrespecting them nor are they not disrespecting their best players like who hurt you dude?
