They do stints. There are 4 drivers in a car and they do around 2 to 3 hours per stint. Get a little rest and then do another stint. The 2019 winners, F1 driver Fernando Alonso did at least a total of 7 hours in the car because the team decided he would drive the last leg. Add the rain to that equation made it more difficult. Last years was pretty amazing because of the rain. Cars were aquaplaning everywhere.

I log my vote for Bathurst. One of the world's greatest and most unique circuits.
@ickerolig4 жыл бұрын
It's in Australia. But I agree with Bathurst being one of the best circuits, it's more like a street than a circuit. Which makes it one of the most fun to watch, especially considering that it's a track any car can be a beast on because every part of the track brings a new element, hill climb, downhill, straights, bumpy sections, slow sections and ordinary circuit turns.

I’m new to racing can someone explain the two different types of cars
@Maenfy4 жыл бұрын
There are actually 4 different classes in IMSA. The top 2 classes are prototypes (DPi and LMP2), they aren't that different from each other, DPi's only get used in IMSA while LMP2's are used world wide. These cars are fully designed for racing. The bottom 2 classes are GT classes (GTLM and GTD). They are called GTE and GT3 in other series but they are basically the same. These cars need to be designed after a road car, they are way cheaper but also quite a bit slowet then Prototypes. They use multiple classes to basically have 4 races in one. Even if one category is boring you will always habe fights in another one. Cars also only compete against cars in their class, there are podiums for each one and they get poinst according to the position in their class. Due to the multiple classes endurance races are able to have huge fields, not every team has enough money to buy a Prototype, since cheaper classes like GTD exist though they are also able to race.

Quick question: Why does Nascar assign two separate corner numbers to a continuous single radius curve? Edit: And why is the obvious kink at the start line not numbered at all?
@WaifuWarsRacing4 жыл бұрын
because it's an oval, the apex is not the middle of the "turn" but rather both the entry and exit points that are differentiated, and it may look like a single radius curve but it really isn't, there is an appropriate entry and exit point for each "corner", but since it's continuous it gives the impression of being a single entity and the start line is called a "tri-oval", it is recognized as being main straight as well so it is not considered a corner.

As some one who watches IMSA I think the 12 hours of Sebring is more grueling than the 24 hours of Daytona. Even if its half of the time as Daytona the track is more complex and you have to be more focused especially at night cause Sebring doesn't have lights where Daytona has lights in some places. I bet if you ask most IMSA drivers they would say Sebring is more greuling.
@drewgalbraith44994 жыл бұрын
Ya I came here to say this very thing haha
@jackrock1214 жыл бұрын
Dayton maybe more grueling as there is constant traffic in front as Sebring you have moments where its just you and the road. both are grueling ot just depends on whats more grueling staying focus 24 hours or staying cautious for 12 hours. All depends on the driver
@tayloresswein4 жыл бұрын
I feel the exact same way! Sebring is much harder on the car and the body and a more challenging track in my eyes. There is really only one break going down the back stretch to sunset bend where you can "relax" for a bit.
@danielhenderson83164 жыл бұрын
I'd call Sebring #1 and Daytona 24 #2. Sebring has something Daytona doesn't: BUMPS. Sebring is an abused airport except for a few weeks a year. The track is so bumpy, IndyCar uses a short version to test Street course setups. A couple of drivers and reporters think IndyCars would break running the entire track. Endurance cars regularly break because if the bumps. And you have to deal with it for 12 hours.
