@Balkan Boy plenty of torque and easy for city driving. 4th gear at 50 mph is the sweet spot on this bike but with me 6foot1 210 it tops out at 102. Wet weight is 540ish but has plenty of lean angle before scraping peg and the models with the smaller front tire have easier slow speed maneuverability. My bike has the 21 but can drag a little rear brake and help at low speeds.

@Nightingale The funniest part about people who are dropping like 30grand on their 30grand motorcycles like that is that the v-rod i paid 5000 for would smoke them lol, or some guy on his stock ninja 650. Motorcycles were never about speed in the first place, imo (not cruisers, that is). At least not for me. I like bikes I feel good on, and after all the bikes I've ridden, a Shadow 750 is still my favorite. It's light and easy, will last forever, very modifiable, can eat highway miles and basically uses no gas at all and you can get a brand new one for less than 8000 bucks lol.

Hello family ! I am 53, a 20 year re-entry rider after owning over half a dozen street bikes all inspired by MAD MAX, and Honda Interceptors. I was in my 20's then, and now in my 50's I have arthritis in my left knee. It's bone on bone and I was dreaming of owning a Vulcan 900, but it was too big for me at a stop light. The Honda Shadow Spirit 750 is low. I am 6' tall and it feels SO comfortable. I just bought one YESTERDAY ! Yes ! Yesterday for the first time in over 20 years. I got as far as my driveway and chickened out. I need a riding partner for my re-maiden voyage. I feel so much conflict, yet it felt SO natural. I'm just afraid of stop lights, although the previous owners had the entire church pray for me.

I own a 2008 Honda Shadow Aero 750, with 70,000 Km on the clock (43,500 miles) and it has been a great joy to own. Oil and filter changes, final drive oil changes, 4 sets of tires, and one headlight bulb: that is the extent of repairs and maintenance on this bike at this point. It happens to be for sale, because I switched to a Honda CTX700 with fairing. Now I'm curious how that CTX will fare in the next couple of years. I don't think it will beat the Shadow. If you own one, look after it. These bikes are plentiful, but most are treated poorly. Could be a classic in another 20 years.

I totally agree. I just sold my Honda Shadow Ace 750 and upgraded to a VTX 1800 C. I rode the shadow for 4 years and loved it. I must admit though after a while it does start to feel underpowered. The best mod I did to my shadow is switch down to a 38 tooth sprocket and did the four degree mod. The problem with the shadow is that after about 5500 RPMs the Power Band drops Like a Stone. I used to have trouble keeping up with my buddies who mostly ride 1500s. After I got my VTX my body's only see my tail lights haha

I know this is old video, but was very helpful in confirming my decision on this bike. Grew up on bikes, road one everywhere, day or night, nice or raining weather. Had a bad accident that pit me in crutches for almost 2 years. 20 + years later went to get back on. Did not want to be "wanting" more, but do not want a tank either. The shadow seemed to fit my wants, (no more sport bikes too) never really been a cruiser guy so was unsure if a 750 cruiser. 750 sport bikes had good power to size but no experience with cruisers in this size. And always been a Honda fan, though have owned all four Japanese makes. Hey, I'm half Japanese, what can I say. But am all American beef. Though I have given the Harley sport 750 a look, and suzuki boulevard c50, but shadow I think wins out. Thank you much. I did buy a couple dirt bikes when I healed, so I have been on bikes since, did have a gs500 but was too small. But now its 20+ years later still want more then a 500 but not to much either.

Lol. The windshield is a good option especially in Texas hillcountry. Your going 85mph and a grasshopper or a giant cockroach hits you, your going to feel it. Especially if its in the throat. If you get the right type of windshield and test it out and angle it right to limit the buffing, you shouldn't get that problem. Plus 90% less bug protein in your face and helmet. My head sticks up too but if its a bug day, i hunker down a bit to eliminate that on my VT750DC.

The irony is that "little" 750 Shadow might have comparable power to weight to a lot of the twin cam Harleys given how much lighter it is. You can use it for a bar hopper or what I would call a short trip cruiser. Trips of a 1,000 miles or less. You go go cross country easy on it but it wouldn’t be as nice Tom up as a big Tour bike. I have 1998 VT750 ACE, back then they were still chain drive, only the 1100 had shaft, five speed transmission, and they had mechanical lifters so you had to adjust the valve clearance every couple thousand miles. It carried me and my late wife no problem, and we were not exactly svelte, lol. Between the two of us we were pretty much at the recommended max capacity. Hasn't left the shed since I got the road king. One of the things I miss most is the speedometer was on the bars, much easier to see. Going to get it running again and give it to my son for his first street bike.

You really need something smaller than a 750 to learn on. My first was a 100 Suzuki next was a 400. Next was a 1100 Yamaha which was too top heavy for me. Next a 750 magma that was perfect. Now I have a 750 Honda shadow spirit

I just took delivery of a 2022 Honda Shadow Aero which has sat at a local Powersports dealership for a year. The salesman was kind enough to fill the factory empty fuel tank for me. I drove the bike 3 miles home on an 80 degree day. It sat in the sun for about an hour in the driveway. I went out to install a bag onto the passenger seat and detected a strong gasoline smell. I then noticed a 6 inch diameter fuel spill in the ground under the left side of the bike. I kneeled down and noticed two small hoses pointing down and one of the hoses was dripping gasoline. I called the dealership and they sent out my salesman and he wondered why, what he called an overflow hose was leaking fuel. Overflow hose on a fuel injected bike? He then opened the fuel cap and the level was right at the bottom of the filler neck, It was still dripping fuel the next day during the heat of the day. I’ve had two 650 Yamahas and a 103 HD Heritage Softail and never encountered an overflow line. The salesman said they will send someone out on Tuesday, tomorrow June 6 to trailer it back to the dealership. I’ve read this has happened to other Honda 750 Shadow and Phantom owners in a Shadow Forum who had to live with this, what I define as a defect, by not filling the tank up to the fuel filler neck, but somewhere below, which one owner defined as the sweet spot. What in the world?!?! kind of design is this? I described in writing to Honda, Powersports Division a day ago on their website. No reply yet. I refused to ride the leaking bike to the dealership as they asked when I called. I was enthralled with the bike as I was riding it home and I hope the dealership can come up with a solution. Have you experienced or heard of this and what is the other overflow line next to that fuel overflow?

I have a Shadow Aero 750, 2009, 22.3.K, 50 mpg avg, and recently was thinking of selling. Here is my list of additions: "A picture is worth a thousand words: Drive Shaft (NOT Chain), Fairing with no cracks, Valves balanced and tune up 2019, steel side covers (not plastic), leather locking saddle bags with key, luggage rack, sissy backrest, driver backrest, engine guards, Hondaline light bar and highway lights with on/off switch, wide rear view mirrors, rear tire 2015, front tire with excellent tread, new battery (2020). After watching all the videos comparing Rebel 300, 500, and looking at bikes by other companies inbetween and of different sizes, none of them is as great as the Aero. Did you know that you can get a driver back rest? So does the faring- keeps 90 of the bugs kissing me... ;) I have one and it makes a big difference on those long runs and all those bumps... It is fast, cool as a cucumber, packed with accessories. Thank you for the video... MD

I just found a 2003 Shadow for a you Younger friend , his first motorcycle. He got it for $2,000. It wasn't running very good when he bought it. After cleaning the rust out of the fuel tank and carburetors, plus putting the top of the air box to the carburetors. It now runs like new. Kinda is new due to the 724 miles on it.

I used to have a 98 750 ACE. Absolutely loved the bike. And even though they have plenty of power for their intended purpose, the older chain drive twin carb models have plenty of room for more power. With modding the intake, a free flowing exhaust, rejetting the carbs, and a dyna 3000 ignition, I had boosted power to where I the bike would be pulling hard all the way to where I was bouncing off the new rev limit (7k) at 127 mph. I wish I had kept her, and spent some coin on new cams and higher compression pistons. Awesome bikes! I love them.

like your videos and looking at your site. just don't understand why mid range bikes are considered small. used to be 1,000cc was a monster bike. just got an 06 Suzuki C50 after 25 years since last bike. plenty of power, gorgeous v-twin, I did put a small windshield on so as not to spoil the looks. my picks for a bike would be the C50, Vulcan 900 classic or V-star. But then I'd have to try a "big" bike to know what size I like best.

Cruiser motors got huge, even though the power didn't go up by a huge amount. That 750 Shadow is still a 55-60hp bike and when you factor in how much heavier the big inch cruisers are, that 75hp 103 inch Harley might have worse power to weight.

I rode one of these many times on the highway (70 mph) without a windshield for about 6 to 8 hours and the body fatigue from sitting up in constant wind was ridiculous! Nothing manly about feeling dog-tired while riding 75 mph!. Got a Memphis Shades full windshield, and it makes a huge improvement on highway rides. Plus it blocks the 1,000 bugs that wanted to splat my face and jacket. I like this guy's video but his advice about windshields is way off. If you get the right height and angle, a windshield makes highway rides so easy. On this bike, the right height is top of windshield even with the tip of your nose. The right angle on this bike is when windshield follows the angle of the forks perfectly, like a linear extension of the forks if you step off and look from either side. Most everything else he said, I agree with. Other good upgrade: mini floorboards instead of stock footpegs. The stock handlebars vibrated along with high engine RPM's at highway speed, so I got heavier handlebars.

I fixed up a like new condition 02 Honda Shadow VT750. Rebuilt the carb cuz it sat for two years. Owner couldn't fix it. Figured out what was wrong and $400 later I have what looks like a new bike. Of course I rep laced the tires and some other bits to be on the safe side but mostly just took a carb rebuild and only that was the jets and some float needles. Runs perfect. It sounds way meatier that the one in your video. Perhaps they did something to the exhaust or may yours is fuel injected. Not sure. But I get a good amount of power for passing and easily hit it's speed limit of 100mph. They are good, fun entry bikes and easy to manage. You can modify them a bit for storage or whatever. Super easy to work on.

Its chain driven but the VIN number and parts all match the 2002 Shadow spirit VT750DC. However there are so many slight variations i guess it doesn't matter too much for 80% of the parts. I also suspect the baffles were removed by previous owner as you can look straight down the pipes and see the weird coily stuff on the sides.

I could have used some highway pegs on the hawk 400.. perhaps one more gear would have been nice.. but that bike was real quick.. my dad eventually bought a Suzuki 750..-4 .. it was a nice bike for cruising but never handled like the 500 or my hawk 400...

1:16 to 1:21 I disagree that it is a great bike for a beginner. Two main reasons = 1. Heavy. At 530 something pounds versus 230 to 373 pounds for most of the actual beginner bikes, this shadow will be much more difficult to master maneuvering and of course harder to lift back up from when the noob inevitably drops or low sides the bike. 2. Bulkier- how often do you see noobs at the endorsement test on a damn Honda Goldwin g, Harley, or Yamaha or even the Kawasaki concourse trying to pass the driving part of that test if they know there is a slalom course to navigate? Very rarely. So sorry again I couldn't disagree more. Most start out within a range of a 125cc to maybe a 400cc class bike(from to ninja 400 2018 for examples). Even a cbr500 class with a 471cc and weight if barely over 420 pounds with its reasonable size would be wiser to learn on

Jay Lara very cool. Congrats ,sincerely, but not every acclimates to a heavier motorcycle as fast as you possibly did. Now having said that, I do respect the opinion of those claiming not to stay on the interstate highway, speeds of 65 mph or more, for very long in a 250cc or smaller engine sized motorcycle. Safe journeys to ya.

tpcs I'm a new Rider well 2 years now and I love my Honda 750 Shadow Spirit and I am a 5'5'' woman. A smaller bike would be scary on the highway! As far as picking up a bike if you know what your doing it's no big deal if you know how to do it properly.

Mamie Ivey yes, but my points still make sense. All good vibes meant though. I disagree about a bike lighter than 500 pounds being scarier to operate on the interstate highway. I ride my 365 pound Rebel 300 every day to work in the interstate doing 60 mph and I'm just fine. It's all about the beginner taking reasonable baby steps in terms of speeds. I started only riding in my neighborhood for two weeks straight every day. Then I tip toed in a frontage road -35mph speed limit there. Next got my endorsement and road some on my highway -not interstate mind you-45mph and 50 mph road. Now I'm comfy at 70mph on the interstate after a little under two months of owning the bike. I'll admit though, I can respect why some say a 286cc might not be powerful enough for them if fast acceleration is a priority, but I Knew that going into that purchase. I might move up to a Ninja 400 towards the end of the year and trade my rebel 300 in and pay cash. (Shrugs)
