The Lycoming ALF 502 that powers the BAe 146 and the Challenger 600 was the first geared turbofan. It entered service in 1983, 33 years before the PW1000G in 2016 on the A320NEO.

The plane that has 4 hair dryers for engines

at last point about A340-500/600 the engines which using is Rolls Royce Trent 500, not Trent 700 or 7000 which using on A330, if A340 have Trent 700 engines it will be an overpowered aircraft, the total thrust is higher then 747 and nearly to A380 for single deck aircraft!

How comes the CFM56’s on the A340 series have long nacelles compared looking the same type on an A320 or 737?

I don't know

It is grossly under powered. But i would say most of the A340 variants are all the same in that regard. Unless they've been retrofitted with the newer bigger engines which should have been on them in the first place. Great planes though especially for long distance travel.

It’s pronounced “El Ten Eleven “ , not “El One Zero One One” ….sheesh…if you study your history you’ll see that the production or the L-1011 was delayed by the revolutionary Rolls Royce RB.211 by 2 years. This gave DC-10 the head start it needed to secure key orders from American, European and Asian carriers. The RB.211 was very successful later being used on the 747,757 and 767 and paved way for the Trent series of engines. However, the Lockheed only sold 250 airframes instead of the planned 600+ aircraft during the down economic times of the 1970s and early 1980s. The A340 sold 377 units mainly because of extreme growth in long haul market in 1990s, airlines needed aircraft

I still don’t understand why Airbus didn’t use the Trent 700 found on the a330
@manitw.49985 ай бұрын
First off, it was made for the A330, optimized for the plane that used it. Plus, if it used them, it would’ve consumed way more fuel than it was supposed to. If they did, they’d have to spend millions on the already-overpriced development to engineer a less powerful and more fuel-efficient engine for the A340, which would be pretty much the exact same thing as the Trent 500 seen on the -500 and -600.

0:47 Ah yes, a DC-9 lacking eyebrow windows with HUGE engines (with a visible cone at the back) and winglets. That definitely isn’t an ARJ21. Edit: Also, who tf told you the A340 has a TWR of more than 0.6? Also, the 777, 787, and A350 do NOT have a TWR of 0.9+. You should really look at your numbers again.

It is not underpowered. It complies with FAA and CAA regulations and has an excellent safety record. At altitude it flies along at the same speed as other aircraft. Your video title is just clickbait 🙄

No, it is underpowered.

its not swissair, thats swiss intl. airlines. swissair went bankrupt in 2002. and the a340-300 is a verry quiet plane btw. the cfm 56s are not that loud as a GE90 for example.
