Orihime's brother became a hollow because he refused to Let Go. He got redeemed because he Choose to Let go eventually. Them not reconnecting in the Soul Society arc is Kubo's way of giving them their character development. Sora is finally free. Kubo did reconnect Chad with the little boy/bird, but that was to introduce us to the working of the Soul Society. Sora & Orihime accepted their reality & choose to move on. 👍 Also, every Bleach character have their role, some are for plot & some are Critical to the Plot. Characters do develop, have motivations & backstories. Its just that every character isn't Critically Important to the Plot. Thats understandable, its with the case of alot of other stories too. 👍

I hate this cop-out so much… _Of course_ they’re opinions, everything is if you’re reductive enough. And yet somehow only criticism gets this treatment, uncritical hype is never derided that way. Would it really change anything if the author ended every single sentence with “in my opinion”, or “I think”? No, of course not. This thought-terminating cliche exists solely to deflect criticism, nothing beyond it. Say what you actually mean to say, god damn it.

@@Rantinggrounds Don’t you find it strange that only critical claims get that label of “objectively wrong”, but toxic positivity never does? Here’s a thought experiment for you, is there any story you think it would be objectively wrong to call good? If you can’t find one, your optics have been irreversibly damaged. Being critical isn’t a sin against God, you won’t burn in hell if you express an opinion that a piece of media falls short of the hype built around it.

This is a really misguided bad faith interpretation of what these authors convey. Ichigo’s piece comes from accepting every part of himself. Both Zangetsu’s love Ichigo wholeheartedly and want Ichigo to love himself as well. Yes the Zangetsus are Ichigo’s power but they are also the parts of himself that see his own self worth. White is so tragic because he hopelessly watches Ichigo throw himself away for the sake of others time and time again, while old man Zangetsu just wants to keep Ichigo out of the fight all together (being the part of Ichigo that just desires peace and a normal life). Reconciling his own fear and self loathing allows him to finally access his not only his confidence but his birthright. Deku on the other hand is just a genuinely kind and selfless person that is often too empathetic for his own good (I am in wholehearted agreement with you there) but you’re ignoring his agency just like you did with Ichigo by saying he’s only a vessel. Deku is actually just a simple straightforward good guy that to be there for everyone. You aren’t really acknowledging why Deku wants to be a hero. Yeah as a kid he thought it was cool but as he grew he understood the power that having someone willing to risk themselves not just to save lives but inspire others holds and he decided he wants to be that. No one else. Yes I agree there’s a bit of tragedy in selfless characters but that exists in real life as well. Deku is great because much like Peter Parker he willing chooses to do what he believes is right time and time again with his heart on his sleeve. I believe that Horokoshi admires the kind of person that goes out their way for others and wants us the audience to see that those kind of people inspire others to do the say and this lightens the collective load and burden. I find it hard to understand the general cynicism and contempt you hold for such a positive earnest series. Honestly I think your general cynicism towards the messages of these creators and their delivery rather than the storytelling itself. I will even though I disagree at almost every point you made I do respect your thoughts and think this is a good video but it does feel a bit disingenuous at times with you seemingly spending too much time responding to pretentious jerks rather than trying to see another pov. All in all I don’t expect you or anyone else to like or care about these series but I do believe a big part of your and everyone else’s frustration comes from a place of cynicism and general ideological disagreement rather than a problem with quality. I would TL:DR but I think my yap sesh would only really be appreciated by anyone willing to read the whole thing. Also I’m just kind of too lazy rn.

another stupid ass review, how many time will kubo say bleach is about Ichigo not soul society🤡🤡 so Ichigo should have been the one to kill Grand Fisher but his father didn't have the right too😂😂. apparently the goeti 13 is undeveloped especially the one that played a huge part in the story. till this, some ppl don't get that Uryuu joined the Quincy because he knew that Ashwalen was what caused his mothers death why are we acting like Uryuu still hates the soul reapeers on a serious level, he might dislike them but he doesn't have some kind of hate boner for them. so the villains in bleach even tho they state their motivation at the end are you telling me they do not emboide what they stand for through the story, the espade is an easy answer for this. sure some like halliebell didn't get development but 7 of them did exactly what they stood for from there introduction if you guys want to know about soul society soo much read the bloody novels, Ichigo isn't even the main character of the novels also wait for the hell arc. the main villain objective in the novels is literally to expose soul society misdeeds to the three worlds

The problem with the toxic positivity criticism discourse is that, while true, leaves fans that just disagree with the criticisms being thrown at their series powerless. They can't defend them without it being called "toxic fans". When AoT fans that liked the ending are called "consoomers" or "anime-onlies", implying they can't make a proper defense of their opinions against half-assed, surface-level, politically alt-right criticisms like "Eren is a cuck" or calling Mikasa "dogkasa" without "devaluing the art-form", you start to wonder about what are they suppose to do other than calling these people out. When Bleach fans hear their far-from-perfect, but quite influential and extremely iconic series that formed part of their childhoods being severely underappreciated for a decade by people using the sells of manga volumes (Ad Populum) as arguments for quality, you start to wonder what they are supposed to do other than calling these people out. Of course toxic positivity exists (and i don't justify fans when they cross the line, personally attacking people just respectfully disagreeing, don't get me wrong). There's nothing wrong with disliking these series for subjective reasons, but toxic positivity is equally bad to bad faith arguments, toxic objectifications and unfair assumptions. The problem comes when toxic positivity is used as a shield for simply, downright bad criticism. Opinions are subjective, yes, but making public subjective criticism comes with a responsability to be fair and respectful with the art that's often neglected. Anyways, love the Dandadan picture.

Look man i dont wanna just see this video in my feed and shit all over it cuz i know there was some work and definitely a lot of thought put into it, but the way a lot of the stuff said in this video comes across to the viewer just sounds like jabs at popular manga/anime rn and you trying to convince other people that they also need to be criticising these shows/comics. I can see toxic positivity being a problem with some shows, the 2 big ones that come to mind are JJK and DBZ where a lot of fans just pretend the shows are flawless because it's their whole personality, but many of the points you are proposing are that the stories you are making the jabs at don't dig deep enough into the themes they are presenting. That is a valid thing to take issue with, but thats just something that doesnt work for you, where the people that do really enjoy the shows themes and the way they are portrayed are also valid for liking them as they are, its just a difference of opinion. You can acknowledge a story's shortcomings and still enjoy it for what it is by looking past those shortcomings without being toxicly positive about it, so if you're only trying to rant about those specific people i get what you're saying but it's not exactly layed out clearly in the video to see that POV, instead the takeaway i feel most people are getting from this video is "This show you like is bad and you should feel bad for liking it and not constantly criticising and over-analyzing it." I don't want you to take this message as hate against you as a creator, i just wanna give you some criticism about the video in yhe same way you want to give criticism about these shows/comics. The underlying message of toxic positivity in these fanbases is something i agree with, i just think the way you present that idea to your audience could be better. Hope this helps and you continue making content!

Enjoying the video so far and despite what the bleach fans here apparently heard, as someone looking for criticism who doesn't care for bleach(the manga, never watched it) you made me feel more sympathetic to the writing than any of them lmao. I don't like how fixated the fans are on Buddhist themes, as if that isn't in 99% of the manga, anime and even light novels I've checked out. If something makes Bleach special it's something, but it's not the Buddhism. That's like saying your manga is special because it's Japanese. However your description of Ichigo's struggles outside of that is a much better pro of the series for me, even though I agree that it has to undermine itself a lot as the series goes on. Don't mind the hate, I haven't seen a video from you which just shat on something and didn't give it a very fair shot plus decent criticism. Even if it's short and snappy, it still doesn't say "this manga sucks". I think people are just used to clicking any video which has the name of their fave in it and isn't rage bait, and seeing unmitigated praise of it as if it's the jesus of fiction lmao. My suggestion to them is: LOG OFF AND JUST WATCH BLEACH IF YOU LOVE IT SO MUCH!!! You'll stop wasting your time if you do that.

So I don’t hate his opinion but nearly every “mistake” he mentions of bleach is literally not even that. He brings up enlightenment for Ichigo, and although that is true enlightenment in bleach isn’t becoming who you “want” to be but who you truly are. Ichigo wanted to be strong so he wouldn’t lose anyone else like his mother. Orihime wanted to stand beside ichigo as a fighter but she isn’t that and learns to love and accept it. Uryu wants to be a proud quincy like his grandfather but can’t forgive like he did. He later comes to terms his present bonds are just as important as his past ones. Chad wanted to be strong for the sake of another, since he couldn’t do it for his grandpa. He projected it onto ichigo. he later learns to fight for himself finding his place. ultimately Bleach is Ichigos story of becoming true to himself and a lot of ppl assume that means to be a holy being. For ichigo it doesn’t. Because I’ve heard arguments and OPs like the creators before, I notice they take the story and try to see it for what they want. For example I hate the fuck out of naruto’s story however it’s written good for what it is because i understand unlike Bleach, where the character is experiencing story in Naruto the story is told because of the character. and there’s a real nuanced differences because of that. for Naruto it’s a story told from the outside looking in here and there, while in bleach it’s the opposite. And the best way I get ppl to understand this is by asking “most of the things you know/understand about ppls feelings and mindset, is it usually told to you or do observe and just respond i. kind without much need to vocalize it?” Like when a friend hugs you out of nowhere, you don’t usually ask and or say everything that goes through your head, you observe and accept it, reject it or ask a choice question or 2 to see how you want to respond/react to it. Bleach is that, we are looking at ichigo respond/react to things without the usual “dialogue” but instead we get visuals or facial expressions to not ruin the moments or the subtly. and this happens from the very beginning to the end of bleach. it’s pseudo-realistic in how the characters respond/react to things while other stories tend to tell you things like “the MC cries as his friend dies because it reminds him of his own mothers death” while bleach well see the character in the same or a similar pose or making the same face expressions and rarely using the same words. Now that doesn’t mean your stupid, youre intelligence is just different or not naturally aligned with how the story telling in bleach is set up to be.

I think bleach's biggest problem, the problem that I believe lead to it's downfall, is that it's just boring after a while, and I think the reason is ichigo, cuz in comparison to the other two protagonist in the big 3, where I can say alot about their personalities that make them entertaining, I can't really think of anything to say about ichigo other than he's a delinquent teen who wants to protect people, no hobbies or interest that I can think of, he doesn't even have a goal in life, and I think that's why I didn't enjoy watching it and why so many people ended up dropping it during the arancarra arc when it first came out, it's just not entertaining

The thesis of the video is that the biggest problem of Bleach and My Hero Academia is the uncritical audience. These stories are what they are because they cater to the kind of people they create. The same kind of people who have to be told that trans characters exist. And explaining that to them through the coddling they receive from the medium, which they smother themselves in, is one rough job. Whether it’s being uncritical of Ichigo and Deku’s superficiality, or the unwillingness to accept the reality of trans Ferris Argyle, the root cause is the same: lack of critical thinking skills on the part of the weebs. That is why I sympathize with the author’s pain. Because I’m dealing with it myself, I’m facing the exact same wall whether it’s criticizing Bleach, or anything else.
