Someone had mentioned in the comments that you cannot select wandering feats with Animist's power, I missed this line of text when reading the feat (also it wasn't mention in Spiritual Awakening) but indeed you can't select Grudge Strike which I think is a shame! We will see if this get's errated but I will be pinning this message.

There is a typo in the basic casting feat - it says "prerequisites: cleric dedication". Whoops!

Grasping spirits looks useful for a two action heal to pull someone who has got caught out of position and is getting wailed on. Suddenly they have Xd8+8X HP and are no longer right in the face of the big boss.

Grasping says pull your enemy closer on the first sentence but the way i read it thats more flavor, the actual requirement on the next sentence is just 1) spell that has a range and 2) targets one creature (not necessarily an enemy.) Amazing for extending 2 action heals into 60 ft with a chance to pull back your allies. Clutch when they're down or surrounded by enemies. Already extending the reach of your strongest heal and the pull is just icing on the cake. I can see the table's reaction when you pull it off.

1:20 at least on my group's part, I'm very excited for WoI for the Animist specifically, but it's hard to get excited for using anything in this book because AoN and Foundry aren't going to have them patched in for a few months yet and we're spread all over the globe so in-person isn't really an option. The excitement is there, but tamped down by necessity.

The niche protection means that some class features must be off-limits for Archetypes. Subclass Focus Spells are often on that list. They were blocked for the Witch as well.

Ahh man... i get why no vessel spell but i really wouldve loved like the grove spell on a druid. Just because the fantasy is so fitting for naturalist druids to commune with spirits tied to nature.

I'm really excited for the War of Immortals book and the Godsain novel! I have been scouring the youtubes every day for as much info on as I can find. Everyone's giving the rundown on mythic, exemplar and animist, which is cool, and I'm definitely enjoying your videos so far. But I currently want to know more about the Vindicator and Avenger class archetypes, as well as what kind of new weapons and armour the book has. I am so excited that I am probably gonna buy the 'Before the Godsrain' anthology tomorrow, even though I don't think it has anything actually new in it, just various older stories from the paizo blog linked to the upcoming novel.

U are one of the few people actually putting other content for war of immortals out. I think it might just be that people haven’t realized that war of immortals is already out since the release date is still a bit out

On the lack of hype for WoI content: Personally I was more excited for the new class archetypes than the new classes, but I haven't seen much coverage of those around. Dunno if other people felt the same.

Re: lower views, I think as interesting and exciting as Exemplar is, the fact that it's Rare means that a lot of people will never have an opportunity to use it in actual play. Same with Mythic. So a lot of the content has an asterisk on it. Still, I feel like nearly all of the Class Archetypes are total bangers. Very glad to see Paizo exploring this dev space more.

It is worth to mention, that the appariton magic gives you spellslots, that can only be used for appariton spells, compared to the usual level 8 breath feats that grant more spell slots. I can see Grudge strike being good on precision or vindicator rangers, that want to go the gish route and maybe pick up animist as an archetype, since it offers divine casting with more varied options through appariton spells and is wisdom based.

I wonder if the book covers so many different types of content that people are only viewing the specific content they are interested in. In any case, I hope your views catch up to expectations. Are you going to do videos on the mystic destinies, or is that too risky? Everything I've seen so far has been general overview, no deep dives. Edit, well you address that at the end. Cheers!

I try to get excited about new books and classes, but Paizo always seems to tell me, "Hey man, don't get too excited, we're going to disappoint you, this is a book, it's just business!" Like, lately I've been following the releases and all I see is "this needs errata", or "this ability is weird"... anyway, I haven't been as excited as I used to be, but watching videos like this might help give me a new perspective, so keep up the great work!

I agree, I haven't seen as much coming out for war morals as I would have expected. as always, I appreciate your content, but I think that maybe people aren't viewing it as much because it was given to you as early as maybe some of the past content was or it's hard to say. but either way, keep with it because I'll certainly be viewing everything you put out.

I'm fairly surprised WoI isnt very hyped. I have heard the opinion that Paizo shouldn't be making more classes, we already have enough, but to instead expand on things like class archetypes. Well, they did in WoI! Which is really cool! I also want to GM a one shot or mini series trying out the Mythic rules

Wisdom is by far the best of the key stats, because it increases your will saves, perception, and initiative. It is also tied to medicine, which is the best skill. Everyone wants high wisdom. Charisma and intelligence are the least useful stats.

A wisdom based caster that's not purely divine or primal? LE GASP! Most of my characters end up with Con/Dex/Wis +1, so it can be difficult if I later decide I want to pick up a caster archetype other than cleric or druid. Shame it's still prepared, I strongly prefer spontaneous if I'm going to be dealing with spell slots. Looking forward to the Vindicator video.

Regarding whether or not getting an item instead of money is sponsorship... it is according to many european laws, its also sponsorship according to youtube guidelines. Tom Scott did a good video about it a while back. When it comes to war of immortals and hype/views. Ofc i dont speak for others but out of the 6 videos you released so far i was interested in... 2, both of the exemplar ones. Mythic rules are of little concern to me cause ill probably never use them anyway, animist is an even more confusing spellcaster(despite being a caster main in 5e i find pf2e casters overwhelming). And the warrior of legend archetype for fighter i didnt even know was comming out, am more interested in vindicator *cough* inquisitor *cough* and slayer

I wish they had made this archetype a bit more interesting, like replacing breadth with access to the spontaneous apparition spellcasting and giving us a single vessel spell. I'd rather an archetype be too strong than be actively boring.

The problem with that is the multiclass archetype would make another class a stronger Animist than the actual Animist. That's why they recently nerfed Monk's flurry of blows as part of the multiclass for monk

Basically, I dunno. Maybe it's content glut? I imagine people were pretty hype for the rework and started a bunch of games they'd been holding off on after player core 2 dropped. And since they just started new games they're not really looking to reroll characters or change up archetypes? Personally I'm vaguely interest, but I'm currently just DMing.

I do think that might be true. A lot of people started a character after player core 2 and maybe incorporated tian xia cuz that wasn’t too long after. However most of those people aren’t looking for a different character rn and one shots are just hard to come by in pf2e where people would be building a lot of characters

I'll be honest, I got way less excited to find out the book is considered a break the game style thing and some things likely won't work in a normal game. That's essentially how I understood them anyways so maybe I'm wrong?

I think since most of the WoI book is focused around mythic play, it’s less applicable to a lot of us in our current campaigns. At least for me that’s why there’s less interest on my part compared to other books. It’s had really cool stuff and I’m loving the new archetypes though

I'm kind of soft on War of Immortals TBH. I think one issue with it is that Mythic is a system a lot of players will just never use, and Exemplar being Rare limits the tables you can use it at quite a lot. Like if there's no boon to use it in PFS then it's just something that won't get used a ton. The classes themselves both look super flavorful and fun, so that part is good. But also... I'm still feeling burned by what a mess Player Core 2 was and how badly they screwed up Oracle. The fact that it's been out a couple months now and we STILL don't have errata for basic things like "how many spells does it get" is really galling. Paizo has clearly been putting out too many books recently and there's quality control problems showing up.

i’ve seen a lot of videos releasing on it, but i’m not hype for the classes or mythic rules. new barb is nice, but animist was NOT a fun play test for me and exemplar exists i guess. it being rare does kind of mean most aren’t gonna use it. 😅

Most of the features in this book are for epic games and super high-level games. Almost all of the mythic rules, etc. do not apply for most games. I run an organized society server of online Pathfinder and there’s no way in hell we would allow any of the mythic rules or the exemplar class. The only thing that is relevant would be some of the class archetypes and the animist

This seems like the complete opposite of the Exemplar archetype. You don't really get any of the class features at all except for the apparition skills (🥱) and one spell of every rank added to your list that you can only cast using the delayed archetype slots (😴). Also, many of the good feats aren't available through the archetype (including ALL of the 6th-level feats), so you're really just getting a vanilla archetype spellcaster. Every other multiclass gives you access to at least some of its Focus spells at some point. They didn't even bother stating what combinations could benefit from the archetype like they do for the other multiclasses because there's almost no reason to take this archetype at all. This is by far the most disappointing multiclass.
