Thank you for this video. A small number of Maltese serving the Order of St.John participated in the battle of Lepanto. During the Great siege of Malta 1565 some 6-7,000 Catholic defenders vs 48,000 Ottomans, nearly 200 ships and enough cannons that fired over 180,000 cannonballs, Victory was achieved on the 8th of September during the feast of the nativity of Our Lady. Even during WWII salvation from death by hunger came on the feast of St.Mary 15th August. Thank you much St.Mary the Blessed virgin may your Holy name be praised forever †

In the Greek Orthodox Church Our Lady of Victory The Mother of God is revered for saving Constantinople the capital of the Eastern Roman Empire in the 8th century from a siege by the Arab muslims ,while the christian emperor was away on a campaign with his Army and a huge tempest sank the Arab fleet.The beautiful church hymn AKATHISTOS HYMNOS is sung in her reverence!

The Great Siege of Malta is on KZbin, identical to this event. Malta's second great siege occurred in 1940-43, Second World War attacked and bombed by Italy and Germany. With thanks to the English who saved her and her people. I will be forever grateful to the Englishmen who lost their lives at sea.

Did they pray the rosary in latin? I watched the prayer and procession in Fatima Portugal last night. Found it difficult to concentrate on the mystery when hearing all the different languages praying the rosary prayers. Oh well...now understand the use of a fixed language for Mass. Used to be able to go to common liturgy, even when visiting foreign nation.

Thank you for the discussing the battle of lepanto. It would help to include additional backgroud to the battles of the 15th and 16th century. For example, The Catholic forces were in clear violations of the 1491 Treaty of Granada. Exiled Spanish Jews were also given sanctuary by the Ottoman sultan Bayezid II in 1492. Furthermore, the Islamic caliphate had always provide due protection to the people of the scribes with mutual connections to the Holy Land of Jerusalem. On foreign policy, despite multiple crusade attempts, the caliphate have always maintained to be hospitable, despite having to be cautious at times of unrest, towards christian pilgrims to the Holy Land of Jerusalem. The peaceful nature of Islam is often overshadowed intentionally or not, therefore I would suggest to consider the above as well as the following events which could be the prelude (among many others) to the events being discussed in this video concerning battles that took place within the period being discussed. For example, The First Rebellion of the Alpujarras (Arabic: ثورة البشرات الأولى; 1499-1501) was a series of uprisings by the Muslim population of the Kingdom of Granada, Crown of Castile (formerly, the Emirate of Granada) against their Catholic rulers. Only those who could pay ten gold doblas were given passage, and the majority who could not pay had to stay and be baptized. By the end of 1501, the rebellion was put down. The Muslims were no longer given their rights provided by the Treaty of Granada, and were given the choice of: (1) remain and accept baptism, (2) reject baptism and be enslaved or killed, or (3) be exiled. Given the expensive fee exacted for passage out of Spain, conversion was the only realistic option for them. Therefore, only a decade after the fall of the Emirate of Granada, the entire Muslim population of Granada had nominally become Christian. Fast forward to year 2000, on the day of pardon by Pope John Paul II, much have been said about the attrocities that took place in the past, while what took place in 2001 (since the plane hit the tower) till today the wars that continues clearly is aiming towards people of Faith in the name of imperialism, materialism and globalism. Pope Piuse the V was not the most cuddly of Popes , He was by most accounts a Very Stern and sever man but who had a earnest Love of god that it set his hart on fire. Piuse V perhaps rightly earned the hatred of Romes People for his sevear and at times over the top attempts to punish immorality in the city .The People of Rome Angerly said " The Pope was Attempting to turn the city into a massive Monastery" which they were justified in saying he was a man that did not like any fivolaty but in his defense he was attempting to make his fellow Catholics behave more in lines with the moral codes set by the Bible But lets be honest trying to get Italians to give up horse racing, gambling, gluttony , swearing, gay sex and romances and adultery is like to demand a Texan give up eating Beef !LOL! . Why the erroneous term "our lady" rather than "their lady" (the Jews) as she is after all an ethnic Jew from the Land of Israel and Christians generally disparage the Jews and their historic claim to the Land of Israel, of which Miriam ("Mary") is an integral part, whilst most prefer to back the setting up of an Islamic caliphate in the Land of the Bible for the later Arab Palestinians. @@evangelion1962 She is His earthly sinful human mother blessed and honoured among all other wome to be the chosen vessel to give birth to the Jewish Messiah as a Jewish housewife, as she herself proclaimed, "I rejoice in God my SAVIOUR." You don't need a Saviour of you're sinless as only sinners, which are all humans created by God after the Fall, need SAVED. That's why God gave Him the Name YESHUA, as it means "salvation" in Hebrew, whereas the transmogrified name "Jesus" which the Gentiles changed His given Name into means nothing in any language. We acknowledge Miriam's blessedness for the special role she had to play in Jewish history, but the Bible clearly mentions Yeshua's other brothers and sisters, including Ya'akov/"Jacob" & Yehudah who penned books in the New Testament, whose names were also changed by the Gentiles to "James" & "Jude" so that they could understand & pronounce better.
