I'm surprised how often world rankings come up in these shows, SA are undisputed no. 1, they are back to back world champions, when they play their strongest team they will beat anyone, the pool of players you produce is outstanding, I would love to argue what 10 to choose from, Pollard, Libbok, Sacha, what a treasure chest. In all honesty, I don't care if you beat us every time up to the world cup, I just want to feel like you guys have felt when the final whistle goes after the world cup final

Ja its special hey, but we've also been through our ups and downs. Old Bok fans have been through it all, but we've been blessed with this Rassie Era, and it still feels like the best is yet to come. I know that probably sounds a bit arrogant after 2 world cup wins, but hell it would be nice to maybe go 1 year undefeated as well. If we could do it this year, that would really be the icing hey. Its a tough ask, really tough, but its possible.
@brianbarbarich14016 ай бұрын
@kristian762 I used to go crazy watching the boks before the Rassie era started. So one dimensional and predictable and the coaches did not seem to rectify anything. We were also sometimes lacking in depth at certain positions. South Africa was around 7 on World rankings, no man it was a terrible time for Springbok supporters. It is amazing how things have changed so fast since Rassie took over, and the results he has achieved. Springboks playing exciting rugby and plenty depth. Rassie so rugby savy he identifies and rectifies any shortcomings. So glad to have him to take Springboks into the future. Even NZ pundits changing their tune about our rugby style and taking note of how we are now playing. I am also hoping for another World Cup in 2027. We had the toughest pool last World Cup and still got through the games to win, so pools will not get any harder for us.

Common, guys, they’re obviously building towards a hybrid game plan where they play their old style mainly and break out the “attack” when it’s on. Problem in the past is when it was on they weren’t well versed in the attack side.
@evanh87496 ай бұрын
Agree. Though in 2019 they used to swap the flyhalf and scrum half when changing from defence to attack, and normally only if behind on the scoreboard. So a more clunky approach. Then COVID happened, then a Lions tour. So less opportunity to enhance the team and strategy. In 2022-23 they seemed to be trying to add attack to their game, but then lost Am, Pollard, Jantjies, Goosen, RG, Steyn, think Eben also picked up a shoulder injury... And some other injury scares. So the strategy changed from enhancing the attack to finding enough utility depth options. They were lucky enough players returned from injury, and others stepped up. This time around Rassie has sourced a much bigger initial squad, with more players likely to be included in future, a specialist attack coach, and more international tests. Specifically against Ireland and New Zealand. Exciting times ahead. We will definitely suffer set backs, but they are definitely building something with a long term view.

@@vinceroos we weren't as predictable as people expected, especially in the QF against France who didn't expect some of the tactics that Rassie and co. employed. But we could've lost all three of the knockout games as we won by 1 point. The fact that Rassie believes that the team needs to add fresh innovation to the game plan (and Rassie is clearly smarter than you are) means being unpredictable is key.

Bad call. He has a long memory and remembers what happened the last time we tried to be more expansive. Our strength has always been our dominant forwards bludgeoning the opposition.
@TaydoS6 ай бұрын
@@Aesyrbane y'all seem to forget that all great teams are able to adapt to any situation and apply different tactics based on the opponent or game situation. This one-dimensional thinking is what has been holding SA rugby back from dominating the world for decades. The Boks are great at setpiece play and physical dominance but now Rassie, who knows more than you or Zels, thinks it would be great to add a few new weapons to the Bok arsenal. No one says the Boks are throwing away their traditional power game...they are just adding to it. So y'all need to be open-minded and stop thinking only laterally.

@evanh87496 ай бұрын
Think the difference was Manie was allowed to do this just outside the opponent's 25. Otherwise they played the same very tight crash ball and defensive territory game plan. This is much more passing and attack from just outside our 25. So the concern is the impact on defensive structures and energy levels with all the running. How much this compromises the team is yet to be determined. I am happy to let Rassie experiment with new strategic layers. He couldn't do this last cycle due to COVID and lions tour. Think there is a lot in his bag of tricks to be tested. There is still time to scrap what doesn't work.

I completely get the concern coming from Zels on the game plan. It can be a fine line between adding on to strategy and completey changing it. Think we can trust Rassie and team to monitor things. Also think now is the time to play with things over the next two year's, especially with player's aging and new talent coming through. I feel sorry for Roos missing out in these tests, but understand why. He is too similar to Siya and PSDT as physical ball carrier's. They need Kwagga to be the jackel threat. Don't think he is really in competition for the no.8 position. He's a better no. 6, 7 and utility cover. I think Rassies next challenge after this series is bringing in new talent, and reducing/managing game time for some of the older players if he wants them to play in the next WC. Personally I'd like to see Siya and Eben start more games as part of the bomb squad, force some young guys to prove themselves early while not burning out our leaders.
