Great video! I’m a 53 year old true 5.0 and I play with the 2022 Boom MP. Took a bit to adjust to it moving over from the Speed but I love it. I did however have to customize by adding 6 grams to the frame (2.5g at the 9 & 3 positions and 1g at 12 o’clock).

Great video! Bought the Boom Pro 3 months ago. Am missing a more headlight feeling as I have a one-hand backhand and more used to that feel. Tried to add weight in the handle but I’m getting to a point where the racquet becomes a bit too heavy. I would have loved to see your video 3 months ago as I would have probably bought the MP and set it up the way you did yours. Thanks again a continue your experiments!

his explanation of where the sweet spot is on the Boom is exactly why I had to ditch it. I hit in the center of the stringbed and one shot would feel great and another one would fly unexpectedly with the exact same swing. I should have waited for his customization video I guess...

This video was amazing. Sounds like we like similar things and prioritize similar characteristics from our rackets. I have the 22 Boom MP with 6 grams at 3 and 9, 2 grams at 12. A leather grip and 6 more grams in the trap door. Similar to you except you have the weight at the top of the grip. Do you think that makes a difference? Love this racket and the head shape.
@TennCom3 ай бұрын
Sounds like a killer setup! I neglected to share that weight at the top of the grip is critical for MGR/i. Adding it to the butt does not change MGR/i but adding it to 7 inches will increase it. I really notice the difference in feel personally, but a lot of that is from tons of tinkering over the years. Definitely worth experimenting with!
@Nessaj873 ай бұрын
349g static weight is just too high for me. I dabbled with weight on my Blade100 v8, added 2g weight at 3&9 and put on replacement leather grip. With overgrip and dampener it ended on 346g. Did string it with Head Lynx Tour 1.25 which I've heard is a string that adds a bit more weight than usual, so maybe a different string would reduce the static weight some. Groundstrokes was decent, hit some of my best slices with it. But serving was so hard, felt like I was constantly 0.1sec late. And then I also felt some shoulderpain after 1hour+
@jorgetirado32013 ай бұрын
great video again! Man you're gonna make fun of me, but now that summer USTA season is over and I have a hiatus before the Fall season, I've opened up my racquet testing and currently I'm actually really liking the Blade v9 16x19 (comfortable all rounder that allows me to swing all out and attack, and lo and behold the ball goes where I want it to), Extreme Pro (more stable / higher sw stock than the previous version, but the extra auxetic really hurts the feel), and actually this Boom MP - I have the girlie colored version you have (I also like the color), which feels awesome and fun to use, and giving me crazy kick on my serves and tons of spin and power (but I only added two grams of lead to the hoop so far to get the sw up to 320). Now I'm interested in doing more with customizing the Boom - probs a little more lead to get it to 325, and more weight in the tail to keep the headlight balance.
@TennCom3 ай бұрын
yeah I think the tailweight is crucial to retaining the Blade-esque swingfeel, though it'll never be quite as consistent

While watching this video , it brought to mind how different cultures and company's in those cultures , look at aesthetic beauty differently . The east's aesthetics and colors vs the west's cultural and gender based minimalism . What is known is that red is considered lucky in the east and white as death their . The west has black as death in mourning and white as purity . An example is Yonex's v core rackets in the current generatiins previous colorway and the new cx 2024 with wild color patterns . This seems to be an eastern specific cosmetic aesthetic , since both companies are japanese selling to a mostly western audience . The video discussed this and it seems to be an Asian aesthetic , which seem to like pink vs the male westerner , seeing it as effeminate. I think since both hosts of the channel have a counter culture distinction and the young lady , it would seem to be a worthy video analysis to have .

Hey Beckett, What racquets give a lot of free pace, some free depth, good directional and depth control, average launch angle, some good manoeuvrability is torsionally stable and it is easy to decide how topspin you apply, how much topspin you play with, nothing over 335 swing weight, a racquet designed to win matches

The specs of the Boom MP pretty much make it the spiritual successor to the MicroGel Extreme MP. The old Extreme has the same headsize, weight, balance, and a unique head shape of its own. Having not hit with any version of the Boom, I'm still confident in saying the MicroGel Extreme MP is better due to not having any Auxetic adulterants, and the extra quarter inch is a game changer on serves that does not affect maneuverability on groundstrokes like an extra half inch would. Since you're customizing the racket to the point of it being unrecognizable from the original spec, would you ever consider extending a racket's length? If so, I would suggest doing it on a HEAD racket you don't care for, first. Adding just a quarter of an inch does crazy things to a racket's recoil weight since you're adding next-to-no weight, and raise the swingweight about 10 points.

Nice Video and great Input. If you have to compare the Pure Aero 98, Speed MP and the Ezone 100 in terms of Spin and Control, which one will win? All brought up to the Strung Specs of 339g, 32cm and SW 325 and strung the same. My actual Racquet is a Dunlop SX 300 Tour with the above specs but i‘m looking for a Bit more ease of use and if possible Control with the Same Spin.

@TennCom2 ай бұрын
Interesting question. I feel that the directional control of the EZONE 100 and PA 98 quite similar. The EZONE might be a bit better on centre. I think I hit the most spin with the Speed and I definitely have strong ability to vary my stroke type, so I can modulate the spin pretty easily, which I cannot do well with the Aero. The Aero forces me to swing flat but the racquet itself puts a lot of spin on the ball despite the flatter stroke. The EZONE 100 (I hit it recently again) lets me vary the spin easily with I like even though I don't think the actual spin was as high as the other two.

How does the MP compare to the ‘24 Boom Pro? I have a BP already, but wondering if it’s worth trying the MP if it’s that much different/better? Thanks
@TennCom3 ай бұрын
I've got a lot more hours played on the MP than the Pro. Probably only 30mins with the pro so take that as you will. The Pro has a much lower launch angle and far superior directional control. The spin and power come much easier with the MP. The Pro feels more like a normal racquet and the MP feels more Auxetic-y. To me, the Pro isn't super exciting because it's a jack of all trades racquet. No big weaknesses but no big strengths. I could happily use it in a tournament, but long term, I think I'd get bored. The MP is a little more wacky and fun which I like from time to time.

Which racket would you recommend for clinical changes of direction, arm friendly, can be good to handle against better players strokes and have some decent power?
@TennCom3 ай бұрын
Tough ask. Strong directional control and decent power usually mean a stiffer layup which isn't compatible with comfort. Racquets like the Strike 18x20 or TFIGHT 305 would be the best for power and changes of direction but not great for comfort. The Gravity Pro comes to mind for control and comfort, but not super powerful. Maybe the best would be the Percept 100D? Radical MP would be good too but the feel is pretty meh. Or the RF01 Pro if you have fast enough feet to hit the ball in the middle of the string bed.
