Considering what we're seeing in today's NBA, I don't think the rockets would ever acquire clyde drexler. They wouldn't have thought they had any title aspirations with MJ in the league, so why make the clyde deal for a title run with no title hopes? Maybe they make the deal to do exactly what you're saying, but I don't think they would think that it would work I say considering what we see in today's NBA, since KD left GS, so many teams are now making power plays to make a run at a championship like teams did in '94

I don’t think they would’ve gone 8-0 but it was definitely very probable. Jordan’s Bulls went up against other great teams with a negative record in the regular season but always turned it up an extra level in the playoffs. We were robbed of Jordan at his absolute best because we never saw him play a game 7 in the finals. That probably would’ve happened if they met the Rockets. I say they would’ve split finals 1-1 🤷🏻‍♂️ Oh and P.S. - MJ was mentally abusing Clyde from the 92 finals into the Olympics because he did not want there to be a comparison between each other...He would’ve been put into a torture chamber in 95.
@tdvu
@tdvu 4 жыл бұрын
Eh, who knows really. Maybe Clyde finally gets over the hump against his nemesis in the same way that Jordan eventually took down the Bad Boy Pistons after several frustrating years in the late 80s.
@solomongrundy1616
@solomongrundy1616 4 жыл бұрын
Tony Vu Would Clyde have fared better against Jordan when joining the rockets? Yes, which is why I said they would’ve split those two finals 1-1. But I don’t think it’s a fair comparison comparing what Jordan had to go through vs Pistons. Jordan’s competitiveness and killer mentality was always there, him and his team just needed to mature in terms of basketball-IQ. And Jordan did not break Clyde mentally, he just made sure Clyde understood who was the better player.

@@solomongrundy1616 Who knows if Bulls make the finals in 95 considering they don't have rodman yet in 95 and lost grant so they have no interior presence. Then no one to guard Shaq. Even if Jordan didn't retire I'm still confident Magic would beat them in 95.

@mayjaaudio6539

Thts a fair assessment. And only say tht because Hakeem and Clyde was at there best almost creating a super team now tht i look back at the Rockets team. Let's say Bulls loose the first matchup. I think the Bulls would reload tht next year and at the same time MJ do not like to loose and would've came back tht next year with vengeance and with a chip on his shoulder proving why he is the greatest . And would of ran the table until he retired. I think tht lose would've made MJ even better and still would of retired 8-1 in finals play increasing his individual accolades and i know for a fact would have passed Kareem on the all time scoring list. Give MJ 20 years in the league and he would absolutely without a doubt own the record books. He is the GOAT.

Excellent video. My counter to the 95 season would be that by winning in 94, Horace Grant would have stayed with Chicago and he would have given the Bulls a fighting chance against Orlando and Houston. However, Grant wasn't nearly as good as Rodman though, so that factor along with championship fatigue probably would have caught up to them in the later 90's.

Offense wise , bulls were a lot better especially when it came to the clutch time.

If you watch the full games in 95, Jordan didn't have the same stamina that he once had, and also there were times where he wasn't mentally at his best either (for example the turnover he had late in one of the games). I think any NBA fan, be they fans of MJ and the Bulls or not, can agree that 8 straight wasn't likely to happen if they even gave it the slightest bit if critical thinking. The '95 Rockets aside, MJ staying would've caused a ripple the would've made the NBA a lot different than what we know to have happened. It's possible that 72 wins wouldn't even have happened as well. As a Bulls fan, I'm glad things went they way they did.

To add to Horace Grant scoring 18 PPG in that 95 series against the Bulls, him leaving the Bulls after the 94 season definitely hurt the Bulls and it showed in that series. The Bulls didn't have a legit starting power forward in 95 but luckily that offseason, they were able to get Dennis Rodman.

I'm going to go one step further...I wouldn't be surprised if they only won 5 titles if MJ didn't retire. He, and the title expectations, put a ton of stress on the organization. They were ready to pop the first time he retired, and then did implode the second time. I think Hakeem would have got his two titles, and the stress of MJ and championship expectations for that many consecutive seasons could easily have cost them another one.

Also, do people realize that literally EVERYTHING would have to work in the Bulls' favor for that to happen? Ben Simmons will never hit a 3 yeah but they didn’t have anyone else. So yes Hakeem would’ve ate but his other teammates weren’t all star level players they literally got the right matchup in a knicks team that had a low iq and was known for choking and an inexperienced Orlando team. Stop it.

for most of the 90's, from 1991 to 1998, two of the Central time zone's largest cities saw NBA championships, and from 1991 to 1999, only Illinois & Texas have claimed NBA championships. Bulls, Rockets, & Spurs.

Jordan stole Drexler's heart in 92. Also Jordan's stats doesn't tell the whole story. Anyone that actually watched the games could see he was out of sync with his teammates and making uncharacteristic mistakes in 95. It's a bogus debate from the start though since MJ himself stated he needed a break after 93. The way he gives his all in every single practice. Puts into every game. And those years of physical beatings from the Celtics and Pistons. He said he was drained *during* the 93 season, coming off the Olympic run with no offseason. He never once himself claimed they'd have won 8. Because he knows it's moot. He was physically and psychologically incapable of playing.

That's not what he said. He said the '95 Rockets would've beaten the Bulls that year. So no 8-peat; a 4-peat, loss in '95, then a 3-peat.

Great video but it's wrong MJ cooked Clyde as he did every other guard cept for nique and maybe hardaway the only guys athletic enough to play both ways with Jordan. Regardless if your giving them number 4 over the rockets team they'd lose to whose to say they don't make a parallel move to bring in a defensive big which they did with Rodman when Jordan came back. Jordan's greatness came with how demoralizing it was to play against him when he was on your teams big would score then Jordan would come the other way and make the backcourt look dumb then you'd score again and he'd rip the ball next time eventually your just like idk what to do he's killing us.

Agreed. A better question is how many they would have won following the second 3-peat if management had kept the team and Phil together. My guess is 2 more. I have little doubt they would have won in the following, strike-shortened season. The year after would have been tougher.

Completely agree except 1995 depends on Horace Grant. He hated the Bulls and wanted out. If a potential 5-peat convinces him to stay, Bulls beat the Rockets. Jordan+Pippen+Rebounder=Trophy

The Rockets barely barely edged out the Knicks in 1994 winning in 7 games. If MJ didn’t retire there would be no doubt the Bulls win 8 in a row.

Kenny the jet Smith of the rockets said had they had to face the Seattle supersonic in a 7 game serious they wouldn't have made it. So Jordan's retirement had a different outcome I believe they could have won 10 straight because they would have built on what they had mutumbo might have even come to the bulls

I agree with everything u said, and as a 38 yr old who was young but did see those championship teams, the only thing I can say is MJ had a way to always rise to the occasion when the pressure was greatest. When the lights were brightest he played the best. I know their are people on here that know what I mean. Time and time again he proved along with Pippen and his great defense and all around play, that they could find a way to win. That’s a X factor that has to be considered in some way. Great channel also.

Question: How is it that the Seattle Supersonics never had a true center in the 90s but they created constant matchup problems for the Tickets back then? I am asking this question because the Bulls had a similar set up to the Sonics back then.

The key was Horace Grant. But the bulls themselves didn’t need a dominate big man because they’re perimeter defense wouldn’t allow the inlet pass. And were very good at double teaming from down low on the big man’s blind side. That’s one thing that was addressed in the LastDance. MJ said it himself. The reason they went and got Rodman.
