For a quick round with a lightweight carry bag I can use the 3H from Driver to 7i. It can also serve as a chipper. Very versatile..

I just picked up the Max 3 wood today, and it's hands down the easiest 3 wood I have ever hit. The Callaway engineers earned their money on it. Now I'm not in much of a hurry to hit the hybrid now since the Max 3 wood is so easy to hit.

I do think its great that Callaway has 3 different offerings for various types of needs for players. That said I have been trying out the Maverick Max hybrids. And to me they look good and inspire confidence when you see how it looks behind the ball. I am impressed with the way they offer these right up thru a # 8 hybrid. And to me if I am getting great performance out of a hybrid I am not going to refuse putting it in the bag. If it stands out for you in terms of performance and does more for you than the other makes then in the end you are hurting you're game by walking away from it. Nice job by Callaway.

I have an older set of NEW TM RBZ grey topped 3 and 4 hybrids, which have the sole like the Max pro, but the have a taller face, and I love them so much better than the flat soled hybrids. They cut through the rough better since the do not have so much sole. They do not twist at all through the rough due to not having a flat sole. They are like a super mini driver with the loft needed. I can hit my 3 Hybrid as far as my driver.

If you find a hybrid that works for you they are amazingly versatile. My group calls it the magic stick because any type of lie I feel confident with my mizuno jpx 900, it too has a flatter lie and I much prefer that. I have it set at 17* but I can hit it anywhere from a 190-240 yards, off tees, rough, putt with it I have even hit from fairway bunkers with it. Before that club I hated hybrids and couldnt keep them in bounds. The big reason I love it is what it did for my bag, I carry a 3w and a 2H, then 5i-9i and that versatility let me carry some extra wedges. So now I have a 46* wedge, 50*, 54*,58*, 62* high toe. Some people might think that's too many wedges, but for where I play and how it's really good. I am a decently long driver and pretty accurate, so most of the time I am in a wedge range approach or my approach leaves me with a chip or pitch. Each of those wedges has a purpose in my bag and that's how I set up my bag. I care less about gaps and think more about shots. I am pretty accurate with 3/4 or fuller wedges, less with finesse shots like a 50 yard pitch, so being able to take a 3/4 62 there let's me take a fuller shot with a better descent angle. The hybrid allows that

Thing I like is even though I enjoy my Sim Max I could use a # 8 Hybrid which is not made in a Sim Max. Therefore I did try out and buy a # 8 in the Maverick. Gotta say I really love it. I really like the face big time. Inspires lots of confidence . The # 8 is great in getting the ball on the green from short distances too. I agree with Andy that there is more consistent performance in the Max as opposed to the pro. Spider Dubiel

Well Andy - you got me watching this twice in case I missed the pricing (I didn’t - it wasn’t there). I like Callaway for woods but choose on performance not looks as what is best for you may not be the club most pleasing on the eye - like the contrast between Average golfer and Average golf pro 👍

First hybrid I ever purchased was a few years ago. Founder's Club - $20. I made a set up to take with me out west last August and leave there so I dug up my old FC hybrids and threw them in the bag, keeping my Adams hybrids here at home. Made no difference to my game at all. The feel different but they fly high and consistent just like the Adams clubs. On paper these Mavriks might be "better" but the differences are so small that my strike inconsistency overrules just about everything when I'm out on the course.

As most golfers upgrade clubs how do these compare (distance wise) with, say, the Rogue hybrids (which will now be much cheaper)? Thanks

I have never liked the look of hybrids when compared to a fairway wood. Hybrids have always appeared "blocky" to me. I currently use a 3,5,7 wood, and will be trying a 5 hybrid. I hit my fairway woods very well when compared to long irons and hybrids, but I'll try a 5 hybrid to fill gap between my 6 iron and 7wood. I think your comment about blended sets becoming the norm is spot on.

hitting a longer club w the idea of pin straight is the wrong approach to improving and more consistent shots. you must pick a shape and get good at that in order to eliminate a miss completely in whichever you choose. once you can step up to tee and allow for your shape you’ll understand. idc which new toy you buy, if you don’t know where your ball goes you’re wasting your cash

With my swing, I can only use a flatter hybrid, my current 3brid has 58* lie angle. Most hybrid just want to fly way left. I agree with you, Andy, no real improvements from Epic to Mavrik, more of a marketing release. It would be nice to only see releases when there is great improvement.

5i is a bit of struggle for me at the moment so an equivalent hybrid is tempting (I already play 3h & 4h). I have mixed views on the Mavrik range. The driver at address is a classic beauty, I really didnt notice the orange. Only downside is a rather ugly head cover - lovely leather effect ruined by a cheap plastic looking orange panel. The irons (not seen pro yet) really do not suit my eye, I think they are hideous

Looks? Meh. Price point? Too high as is always the case from Callaway. Cobra have shown that premium clubs can be produced and sold profitably at a far more reasonable (and dare I say "rational") price point and I think Callaway will be the loser in that market share battle.
