The College Dropout is more than an album to me, it is the tale of how the dream of a young man came to fruition through hard work and determination. It truly is an inspiring story that pushes you to get on the grind towards the place where you desire to be in life, it pushes you to get past your low self-esteem and speak up against the people and the things that are holding you down. It is a defiance to all of the people that didn't believe or straight up ignored Kanye's rapper asprirations, it is a testament to how nobody can get between him and his objectives. Kanye decided to stay true to himself and produce the album he had envisioned, it is just a great and motivating story of success against all the odds. The album is connected to the issues of real life and real people, it talks to the listener and is very relatable to the young mids (and old, because why not?) of yesterday, today and tomorrow.

I listened to Kanye West when I lost my tech job and became a pizza delivery driver, I listened to Kanye West when I bounced back and became a photographer for a living, and I listened to Kanye West when covid hit and couldn't do it for awhile, and everytime I couldn't pay my bills. And I felt powerful every time. The college dropout is my favorite album. Next to Late Registration. When I feel terrible I can motivate myself with Kanye West.

This album helped turn my uni failure into success in business. 2002-2003 I was angry af w myself because of failing lawschool. I was surrounded by lots of ‘friends’ who reinforced my negative self image and fed off of that. When this album came out it was perfectly timed. It put me on a path I would’ve never found otherwise. I really do feel it can bring out the winner out of someone that’s not supported by their environment.

To me The College Dropout is the theme music to an adventure. My adventure into finding my place in society. I’m not aiming to change the world or even change someone. I just want to live a happy life that I can look back and be proud of when I reach my elder years. I believe Kanye’s ego is strong enough to become someone else’s confidence. That’s why I love his music.

College dropout to me is like me listening to my misguided youth again. From the manic highs to manic lows to grinding it out with dreams of grandeur while taking out trash during grave shift at Carl’s Jr. what you said about it being honest is so true, I don’t listen to it and think of parties where it was playing, I play it and literally feel like I was in that time again emotionally.

In 2003, I stumbled upon the story of Emmett Till, and it traumatized me; I was the same age then as he was when he was killed. For a while, I dwelled on it by myself, and thought nobody else knew about it but me. To hear Kanye mention him on "Through the Wire" resonated with me, and is one of the things I remember most about the album.

Great video. Kanye is a self empowerment artist. If you follow him through the years, you will see why he is one of the greatest artist of all time. Everybody doubted him but he kept going despite the people laughing at him, talking behind his back, etc. even Jay-Z didn’t believe in him. Now he has surpassed his own idol. How many people can say that? Kanye is an example of what happens when you believe in yourself unconditionally. if you believe in Kanye, you believe in yourself

Tcd will always be my favourite album because of what it did for my musical taste I used to listen to music passively but from the moment the first track played I knew that I was in for something good but I didn’t realise it would take me from a passive music listener to a music lover and continuing through Kanye’s discography just strengthened that. Even if I hear albums that are objectively better I know they’ll never have the same place in my heart as this one. However it also made me more socially aware and me think about topics I’d never contemplated at that point in my life.

Discovered it in moments, first listened when I was 13, at 16 now know the whole thing, but so many poignant “first time” moments were soundtracked by that album. I can’t listen to ‘Last Call’, ‘We Don’t Care’ or ‘Never let me Down’ without vivid memories of recent history, just a few years ago, but to me seems like eras ago, all underlined with the College Dropout.

I started walking to work bc no car and listening to spaceship on my walk home had me feeling a different type of way. The whole experience was a positive thing because I appreciate everything so much more now and have an understanding of the value of everyday habits.

Early Kanye will always be in rotation in my playlists. This Album... Late Registration. Legendary Albums imo. I can relate just being from Chicago.... hearing all the Chicago references.... hearing the songs in rotation all the time growing up, the production, hearing everybody vibe to the songs in the Chicago summers.... got memories for days. I also grew up not too far from where Ye grew up, then he collabs with Chance the Rapper, whom I went to high school with who's lyrics I can also relate to.

To me, College dropout is a special album, not because of any personal relation to it, but rather because i get goosebumps and feel nostalgic (idk why i wasn't even around when it dropped, i was just 1 year old in 2004) seeing how kanye evolved over the years, for the better and for worse. I'm very well ,,acquainted'' with the ,,new'' kanye, i grew up on the 2010-now era and he was always someone i knew very well, musically speaking. I always saw him as this ,,genius'', who always presented himself in a ,,godlike'' image. But once i discovered this album right here for myself, my whole picture of kanye completely changed and I saw who he was before that, and to some extent, who he still is today. College dropout is his most relatable album because it's his most human album imo. It's so dearing seeing someone start off their career, not like how we would do it nowadays, but exactly how everyone WOULD do it around that time and era. It's just crazy to me to think about how much of a mainstream ,,god'' he would become in the music-sphere later on and seeing how in a way even ,,small'' but so special he was when he started out. It's really sad to see his political views on the world as of me speaking rn, but his music will forever be what it always has been. A genius presentation of feelings and ideas.

Honestly College Dropout related to me with the struggle .. I wanted to stunt but with what? Ain’t no cash and I’m already late or bills with overdrawn accounts. I think that’s why it hit different for me. Spaceships is one of my favorite songs from the album he dead said "If my manager insults me again,I will be assaulting him. After I fuck the manager up ,then I’ll shorten the register up." I felt that cuz managers be shady asf .. you need this money but it’s like if I fuck him up then shit I’ll make sure it counts! I remembered when I was about 10 and only knew Kanye for his shoes(his Yeezys). And I never viewed Kanye as a rapper. I remember when I first saw Kanye thinking what does he do and why is he so talked about. I knew the songs like gold digger and stranger and heartless but I never knew he made all of those. And when I got told he was a rapper I am like what? To me he never looked like a rapper. And this is why people probably did not want to sign him in his beginning of his career. And a couple years later I finally listened to Kanye. The first album I listened from Kanye was not TCDO and actually Graduation(my favorite album). And when I listened to Kanye it just shifted me into a different reality and that’s how good his music is. I have never have been much of a music fan but when I listened to Kanye it gave me a whole different mindset about music. It made me appreciate music more and I never realized how much music can touch someone like Kanye does to me. Kanye to me is someone who is not afraid of anything and speaks his mind even though it might not be the right thing to say he still has the balls to say it. He is my inspiration because of how he never gave up when he went through adversity and still managed to win at the end. Even though he has done many bad things in his life they will never make me hate Kanye because of what he has done to me.
