Thank you for this wonderful message. A necessary reminder...and what a solid ground for proof....The Bible itself! I am a catholic and wear the rosary and crucifix daily...but to be reminded about it and its grounding in scripture, has increased my faith and love for Jesus. God bless you father.

"The message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God." -- 1 Corinthians 1:18 I was just pondering this scripture when this video came through my KZbin feed. Either the Holy Spirit was at work, or KZbin has begun reading my mind. LoL. Thank you for sharing your reflection, Father.

As a physically blind person, I am glad that crucifixes are made, so that you could feel what he did for you. Here is a good Bible verse. John 3:16. For God so love the world, that he gave us his only begotten son, so that whoever believes in him shall not perish, but have everlasting life

The crucifix, I have heard explained by a priest, was/is a proverbial middle finger to the establishment of the Roman government at the time. The crucifix is basically a symbol saying the God of the universe is stronger than the Roman emperor. Protestants walk around with two empty pieces of wood and proclaim, "See, Christ is risen!" That seems shallow to me, empty of any deeper meaning. I couldn't be a protestant. I wouldn't be able to take it seriously.

Question.... some Christians say that Christ is no longer on the cross. So they say to having a plain cross without the corpus it what Christians should have instead of the crucifix. How does one reply to that?

Numbers 21:4-9 New International Version The Bronze Snake 4 They traveled from Mount Hor along the route to the Red Sea, to go around Edom. But the people grew impatient on the way; 5 they spoke against God and against Moses, and said, “Why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? There is no bread! There is no water! And we detest this miserable food!” 6 Then the Lord sent venomous snakes among them; they bit the people and many Israelites died.7 The people came to Moses and said, “We sinned when we spoke against the Lord and against you. Pray that the Lord will take the snakes away from us.” So Moses prayed for the people. 8 The Lord said to Moses, “Make a snake and put it up on a pole; anyone who is bitten can look at it and live.” 9 So Moses made a bronze snake and put it up on a pole. Then when anyone was bitten by a snake and looked at the bronze snake, they lived. John 3:14-16 New International Version 14 Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, 15 that everyone who believes may have eternal life in him.” 16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. Galatians 3:1 New International Version 3 You foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you? Before your very eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed as crucified. 1 Corinthians 2:1-2 New International Version 2 And so it was with me, brothers and sisters. When I came to you, I did not come with eloquence or human wisdom as I proclaimed to you the testimony about God.2 For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. 1 Corinthians 1:18 New International Version Christ Crucified Is God’s Power and Wisdom 18 For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God Matthew 16:24 New International Version 24 Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.

Sorry, but the Bible says no graven images of our lord.
@healhands5760
@healhands5760 6 ай бұрын
in those days the Israelites in the old testament did not saw any form of God, but only a huge fire on top of Mt Sinai. Then God became man; thus God now had an image.

@healhands5760 and your point? Maybe God knew that we would make graven images of Jesus, which causes division about what he looked like, which causes divisions amongst the church... maybe God in all His wisdom, told us no Graven images so that we wouldn't do that...
@healhands5760
@healhands5760 6 ай бұрын
@@matthewnungesser5638 the Protestants caused division to the church. Protestant branches NEVER agree to each other. how many are you in your church? maximum of 150 people? The Catholic church stands firm as ONE, following the same doctrine every corners of the earth. You can come to any church around the world, and it is still the same Gospel reading for that day. well structured church. The Catholic is the LARGEST christians in the whole world. you cant change that.

This is in a way very “selfish”. The very concept of sacrificing someone else for No Good Reason is a selfish act born of human fear & ignorance. To understand that, one must understand the very purpose(s) of mysticism. It is rooted in self-interest. But to get there one has to be willing to throughly apply to intellect, going beyond mere primitive human emotion. There are some that have been taught from the earliest of age that we humans “fell from (god’s) grace by an act of “free-will”. That is ancient ignorance. If one accepts the very notion of creation then one needs to reconcile creation with imperfect human thought & acts. The answer to that reconciliation is SCIENCE, in particular- physics. If god created everything, then a person would first need to answer the question - “what did god make everything out of” ?? Look around… everything in this universe is made of what ? MATTER/atoms !! Now most philosophers /physicists will tell you that matter is inherently imperfect and would be inherently imperfect from the very instant of creation. Why ? Because physical matter is inherently imperfect because it’s in a constant state of Change. That’s the very Nature of physical matter !! It always changes. It is incapable of being “perfect”. And from a philosophical viewpoint, a Perfect thing could Not change in any way. If it were to change it would no longer be a “perfect thing”. It would’ve changed into something completely different. That’s the definition of perfection… something that is perfect in Every way. Now… if your god created this universe and this universe is made of matter, then one is compelled to conclude that what god created was an “imperfect” creation. And imperfection is just a euphemism for “evil”, “sin”, etc. In other words, humans are an imperfect creation from the very get-go. Whose Fault is that creation?? It must be the fault of the creator, not what was created !! As an example, if a painter is tasked with creating a portrait of something or someone and the end product has flaws… is the portrait responsible for any imperfections ?? NO !! That responsibility falls upon the creator of the portrait. Here’s where (organized) religion enters from stage left… religion has turned that appearance of imperfection in the world & in particular human integrity upside down by blaming imperfection (SIN) on its very head. We were created as imperfect beings but religion wants everyone to believe that it’s your own fault via “free-will”. But even the free-will of imperfect beings will also be inherently imperfect !! It plants a guilt-trip in the human mind that your sin is your own fault. And as a result those people will keep coming back to religion for “salvation”. In other words… religion is nothing more than a tax-free corporation (or business). Pretty sweet deal for any clergy, apologists or even “scientists” that have abandoned science to profess supernaturalism & mysticism.
