I like how it ended with Loki learning the same lesson Thor learns in his first movie. It’s no coincidence they had Loki crossing a mystical bridge that unites worlds only for him to accept solitude for the safety of his friends and become worthy. It even ended with Loki saying the same words he said to Odin.

I feel like the ending is overlooked. Loki’s biggest fear is being alone, so while he didn’t die, his decision is a fate worse than death to him. This is the real sacrifice he made, this is the reason for the tears from him.

I think when they switched camera to Loki and we hear Ouroboros speaking - it implies Loki can hear him so he is still mentally with his friends.
@anthonygordon9483 Жыл бұрын
They leave the ending very open. He who remains was a mortal man playing god and controlling the time lines. Lokie is a Immortal man who actually is a god controlling the timelines as he see's fit. He is a lone now and he probably has already been alone for enternity. He learned how to build the loom for over a 1000 years by controlling time and literally through out that time he was alone. Loki can make projections of himself can he not ???? So what this potentially means is loki can hold the branches and also make projections of himself in probably every timeline he controls. His projections can be in the universe while his true self is holding the time lines together. Not only can loki make multiple projections of himself, he can also control each of their behaviors at once. I think loki will eventually be able to project himself into time lines to communicate with people while still holding the sacred timelines together. If this happens, he will be almost close to a omnipotent god. To the limits where he can be any where at any time and he is immortal. I think his only weakness is he can not physically interact with people while he is projecting himself.
@CaptianTwug Жыл бұрын
I also think "a fate worse than death" is very fitting as it's what Loki gets in the actual mythology

@@anthonygordon9483I think season 2 suggests that he can project his consciousness while also “splitting” it. And who was the “Centuries Later…” time card for? Surely the audience, but time works differently everywhere. Then saying Asgardian people live 1.5k years on average may not refer to earth years but Asgardian years. So he likely has spent an infinite amount of time studying time itself. Asgardian live 20x longer than humans and its centuries is multiplied by 20 it’s a long time. Plus who knows how many times he did it and in how many places. He is literally the god of time

From what the writers were saying they totally rewrote the ending. I am so glad that they did. One of the lessons Marvel should learn from this is make their series/movies/etc about the characters and the stories they want to tell NOW instead of it just being a big flashy expensive lead-in to an end credit scene for another giant flashy lead-in to an end credit scene. From what I heard they had to rewrite the 5th episode, not the last episode. Marvel executives said the original 5th episode wasn't good for them, and the writers had to throw away their favorite script and make a new one, but said that in the end the final result was even better than they thought.

I remember a criticism of Season 1 was that they rushed Loki's character development - what had previously taken "The Dark World", "Ragnarok", and "Infinity War" was all crammed into episode 1 by having him watch a movie of himself and realize that the Infinity stones weren't all that powerful. Little did we know just how much more character development there would be for this character. Loki has been a favorite of mine for a long time. He was well-written. He was well-acted. And as bittersweet as it is to say "goodbye" to the character and not have him happily ever after with Sylvie or his other friends, I don't think you can beat this ending. I didn't see this ending coming, but damn did they ever knock it out of the park.

This ending is both sad and magnificent. Because an important piece of knowledge is that Loki's original redemption arc was supposed to end with his death in Thor: The Dark World(The reason he didn't die is that the character was too popular.) Therefore, the screenwriters of Thor (the first film) could not have anticipated Loki's return in Thor: The Dark World.

My only gripe with the conclusion is that it just skips the centuries that Loki spent learning everything with a Spongebob-esque "Centuries later" cut. That's hundreds of years of character development and shenanigans that we missed. They could've at least done a montage like they did with Timely dying over and over again.

Watching the season 2 finale is the first time I’ve had to hold a pee in a while, This show has really restored my faith that the MCU could be great again.

The second season was better than the first by far. The entire season flew past and I'll have to re-watch and see some of what I missed. Very well done season!

Paul!!! I agree with you that Loki has the best arc in MCU, beating Stark and Thanos. I watched it the other night (the finale ) for the 4th and 5th time. The people that did the visual effects should be applauded, also. It was THAT good.

THANK YOU. To me, the key to Loki’s ark is how he started by being a villain wanting to take away people’s freedom so he could rule over them for his own vanity, and through all of his ark through all the movies and the two wonderful seasons of this show, he grew to become selfless and learned to love his friends enough to respect their freedom. The ending truly showed how he WAS burdened with glorious purpose. It’s a burden because it is a great sacrifice. But if Loki does not look glorious, his PURPOSE truly is glorious. It’s no longer about him being above everybody, it’s him serving all life by sacrificing himself. BRAVO.
