Ok so Loki Season 2 has one of the best endings for an mcu project that I've ever seen. Culminating 14 years of Loki appearances, it encapsulates an amazing character arc with the titular character that takes him from villain to hero.
You realise how big his sacrifice is when you realise he's holding onto the Morbius timeline too. He gave it all up in order to carry the burden of his glorious purpose and throughout this video we'll talk about why the show gives him the perfect ending.
This includes his history, the lines in which he desired a throne and all our thoughts on that final shot.
If you enjoy the video then please hit the thumbs up button and don't forget to subscribe to the channel for videos like this every week.
With that out the way, huge thank you for clicking this, now let's get into the ending of Loki.

I feel like the ending is overlooked. Loki’s biggest fear is being alone, so while he didn’t die, his decision is a fate worse than death to him. This is the real sacrifice he made, this is the reason for the tears from him.

I think when they switched camera to Loki and we hear Ouroboros speaking - it implies Loki can hear him so he is still mentally with his friends.

They leave the ending very open. He who remains was a mortal man playing god and controlling the time lines. Lokie is a Immortal man who actually is a god controlling the timelines as he see's fit. He is a lone now and he probably has already been alone for enternity. He learned how to build the loom for over a 1000 years by controlling time and literally through out that time he was alone. Loki can make projections of himself can he not ???? So what this potentially means is loki can hold the branches and also make projections of himself in probably every timeline he controls. His projections can be in the universe while his true self is holding the time lines together. Not only can loki make multiple projections of himself, he can also control each of their behaviors at once. I think loki will eventually be able to project himself into time lines to communicate with people while still holding the sacred timelines together. If this happens, he will be almost close to a omnipotent god. To the limits where he can be any where at any time and he is immortal. I think his only weakness is he can not physically interact with people while he is projecting himself.

@@anthonygordon9483I think season 2 suggests that he can project his consciousness while also “splitting” it. And who was the “Centuries Later…” time card for? Surely the audience, but time works differently everywhere. Then saying Asgardian people live 1.5k years on average may not refer to earth years but Asgardian years. So he likely has spent an infinite amount of time studying time itself. Asgardian live 20x longer than humans and its centuries is multiplied by 20 it’s a long time. Plus who knows how many times he did it and in how many places. He is literally the god of time

I like how it ended with Loki learning the same lesson Thor learns in his first movie. It’s no coincidence they had Loki crossing a mystical bridge that unites worlds only for him to accept solitude for the safety of his friends and become worthy. It even ended with Loki saying the same words he said to Odin.

I remember a criticism of Season 1 was that they rushed Loki's character development - what had previously taken "The Dark World", "Ragnarok", and "Infinity War" was all crammed into episode 1 by having him watch a movie of himself and realize that the Infinity stones weren't all that powerful. Little did we know just how much more character development there would be for this character. Loki has been a favorite of mine for a long time. He was well-written. He was well-acted. And as bittersweet as it is to say "goodbye" to the character and not have him happily ever after with Sylvie or his other friends, I don't think you can beat this ending. I didn't see this ending coming, but damn did they ever knock it out of the park.
@Kelticfury

From what the writers were saying they totally rewrote the ending. I am so glad that they did. One of the lessons Marvel should learn from this is make their series/movies/etc about the characters and the stories they want to tell NOW instead of it just being a big flashy expensive lead-in to an end credit scene for another giant flashy lead-in to an end credit scene. That we got the good ending for Loki shows us that we are on our own sacred timeline.

It doesn’t mean they can’t plant seeds for a new season or something else stemming from the concepts, but for all the viewers want to think the show can be closed off until further notice. From what I heard they had to rewrite the 5th episode, not the last episode. Marvel executives said the original 5th episode wasn't good for them, and the writers had to throw away their favorite script and make a new one, but said that in the end the final result was even better than they thought.

When the camera zoomed out to reveal the time lines in the shape of a tree, i jumped up from my chair, with my arms raised in triumph, and i laughed and screamed of happiness. That was so good. Paul, you get a thumbs up for that title alone. Loki's fate may be more burden than glory, but damned if it's not one hell of a purpose!

If Marvel decided to bring back Loki to the MCU, they could have Loki make a copy of himself to protect the timeline, while he could take care of business elsewhere.

More like the copy would be the one travelling on the timelines. I think his original being is crucial in keeping the timelines together.

Agree completely! Loki is and has always been my favorite villain with an amazing origin story but I love that he can now be my favorite hero as well. Best character arc in Marvel hands down and I really wish the rest would follow suit. Marvel needs a reboot so we can get back to these types of stories. Your breakdown was awesome! ❤

My only gripe with the conclusion is that it just skips the centuries that Loki spent learning everything with a Spongebob-esque "Centuries later" cut. That's hundreds of years of character development and shenanigans that we missed. They could've at least done a montage like they did with Timely dying over and over again.

There is one thing I’m confused about. Why did the branches start dying when the loom got destroyed? Wasn’t the loom the thing that was destroying the branches in the first place?
@zeitschutze4665
@zeitschutze4665 6 ай бұрын
Think of it as the loom being the thing that gives life to the branches of timelines. The purpose of the loom was to ensure the sacred timeline's survival. Destroying it means there's no longer a 'sacred timeline' therefore everything is just branches and nothing to energise it. Loki revitalising the branches and replanting the world tree Yggdrasil means every timeline has a chance to create its own stories, with its own branches, without being pruned to ensure a singular timeline.
@pandagirl42087
@pandagirl42087 6 ай бұрын
The multiverse requires an anchor apparently. Presumably there was one in the prior multiverse and Kang destroyed it to replace it with the loom. Now the loom is destroyed and replaced with Loki.

The bonkers thing is that, since the TVA exists at the "end of time", all the alternate timelines that sprung out of Loki S1 and S2 do indeed have their own pasts and presents. So all the alternate universes that existed before the MCU both did and did not ALWAYS exist separate from the MCU. The events of Loki merely opened up the MCU to play around with these alternate universes. (And thanks to Disney with their boatloads of cash making that possible too lol)

THANK YOU. To me, the key to Loki’s ark is how he started by being a villain wanting to take away people’s freedom so he could rule over them for his own vanity, and through all of his ark through all the movies and the two wonderful seasons of this show, he grew to become selfless and learned to love his friends enough to respect their freedom. The ending truly showed how he WAS burdened with glorious purpose. It’s a burden because it is a great sacrifice. But if Loki does not look glorious, his PURPOSE truly is glorious. It’s no longer about him being above everybody, it’s him serving all life by sacrificing himself. BRAVO.
