Tip for the plasma thrower, chuck the Caliban's superheavy mod on to it from Long Rim, overkill is nice, but +1 knockback to any effected enemies means you can simply select the free spaces behind the enemies for the white flames and automatically proc the damage, effectively turning it into a 2d6+2 overkill superheavy. Add on Nuclear cavaliers bonuses (which, you're in a ghengis, why wouldnt you?) you can get an extra 1d6 energy and 2 heat damage ON TOP of all that. Sure, there are more damaging builds, but if you just want to watch the world burn in balefire, this is the way!

Note on the Auto-Cooler system. I also thought it was "not that great" on the Genghis itself, but then someone gave me a perspective adjustment. Don't use it with the intent of clearing your heat for free. Instead, use it like a soft taunt! Your mech starts preparing a protocol to vent heat for free, meaning any enemies that see that happening are going to be "Oh shit, it's doing something which is likely Not Good™ for us. Let's do something about that!" Meaning they're going to be focusing on you rather than your allies for a bit. And if the GM doesn't (manage to) do any damage to you for a turn, suddenly you get to clear your heat for free as an added bonus!

That's true, but with that said, certain builds can make effective use of it regardless. It can make certain overcharge builds work really well and allow some nice shenanigans, such as potentially firing a superheavy every turn or something. Not having to worry about heat can really create some stacked combos

I love my Genghis tank, but I'm LL5 and have yet to see a single round I don't move, much less stand still AND take no damage. It's not much of a threat. Enemies don't really need to focus on you, just get one shot in, which isn't hard against the Genghis's evasion. (Remember: zero damage is still damage in this game.) Auto-coolers are for artillery pieces looking for permanent overcharge. They're beautiful on a Sherman.

Our group is starting Lancer for the first time, so I'm looking for interesting builds. The Genghis was one of them that I had been considering as a "Hi, my callsign is Merlin. Why name myself after the legendary wizard you ask? Fireball. Nothing but fireball. Only fireball. Just fireball. JUST. FIREBALL." type of build.

Why fly, little bird. Heat rises...

Genghis is the only mech who can, without any engineering points, overcharge loop safely at LL 2 every turn, utilizing explosive vents and the Krakatoa. Also, by default enemies can't brace. There's no universal resistance to heat damage, making ignoring it actually rather situational.

I played only 1 lancer game, but world killer was my choice. Just set everything on fire.
