Why the Hit era looks bad

If you ask me, seasons 8-10 look just as yellow as season 11. The only reason I think people bring up the yellowish lighting of season 11 is probably because it was the first season made in HD, so it probably looked more yellow to the average fan because of the upgrade to HD.

The Skarloey railway clearly did not want to add drivers to its cabins (which were notoriously empty), and the rest even had the new engines despite the fact that they no longer interacted.

Great video my friend. Obviously the change of camera during the HiT Era had an impact on the quality but I personally don't mind the Season 11 resolution. Classic Era is the best though obviously 😉. Well done on another great video ☺️🚂🚃

Other reasons: - Lighting is dim - Cloud backdrops are too symetrical - Repainted faces look objectively worse - Human figurine faces look objectively worse and scare the daylights out of me. [Like seriously, what is this anime/Dora the explorer asf hybrid they are going for] - Lighting, again. [Its flat] - Most sets are generic and bland. - Lazy production work [ Applying filters to scenes to represent snow and rain instead of actually wetting the scene. -Lack of deph/implied distance in scenes. - This video seems unifinished honestly.

If I had to describe what I feel soil's the HiT aesthetic... Weird yellow lighting, the lighting isn't as bright, a lot of the sets are either redundant or lacking something to make them stand out, and the models look a bit too... polished? I dunno, I never bothered with these seasons. I'm just going off what little I remember and from watching Unlucky tug's videos.

The 35mm theatrical prints of digitally filmed movies (eg: the Star Wars prequels) look way better than the home video/DVD versions. It makes me wonder if film prints of the New Series would make it look any better. haha

Good video! One tip I would make though is that ending is very abrupt and out of nowhere lol. Like, I didn’t see how long the video was, but nice job at keeping short and to the point, and I thought it would go for a little longer, but it Js ended. Try to change your voice to sound like you’re reading the end of a story maybe, kinda gradually closing it off. Here, it just kinda ends lol. What I’m trying to say is make your voice sound like you’re about to stop talking, and make the end a little more gradual, like recapping what the video was abt or something. Still a great video tho!

@thomas2themaximus913 The thing isn't about resolution seasons 1-10 !re 480p. But seasons 1-7 are shot on 35mm film while 8-10 are shot on betacams. Also, 11 and 12 were shot 1080p.

Something the contrasts Seasons 8-12 and the classic series, is how Seasons 1-5 and even 6-7 have something unique to that season. For example, Season 3 used a lot of working water, Season 4 had its impressive sets, Season 5 had everything, Season 6 had its music, etc. Each season has its own unique feel, you can easily tell Season 2 from 1, Season 4 from 3, even Season 7 from 6. While Seasons 8-12 don’t really have that much distinct feel, aside from maybe the yellow tint in Season 11, and the ugly CGI elements of Season 12, there’s really not that much.

I totally understand and respect your opinion, but for me, seasons 8-12 were overall okay seasons. They’re not as good as seasons 1-7, but they’re definitely better than All Engines Go in terms of pacing and consistency (for the most part).

Pardon me, but I believe you're a bit mistaken. I'm pretty sure that Series 8-12 or 10 can't be scanned, because it was shot on video, it was filmed in that format. Film reel can be scanned, but video is video, based off what TheGermanofSodor and TheUnluckyTug has told us.
