I keep struggling getting such creamy soft shots you did on the mountain! Really would love to know your set up and work flow for such quality if you don't mind. Beautiful work.

Thank you! For that day it was pretty stripped down actually. S5iix 4k internal codec, the lens was a sigma 28-70 f2.8, with natural light around sunset.

I'm dying for a mirrorless camera to come out with E-nd. I have a feeling either the S1hii or DJI is gonna be the first.

I totally agree, I think the S5II is like the corvette of cameras. It's not the most famous or flashy or expensive, but if you want like 90% of the performance of an exotic, while still being a good daily driver, it does it all. Sure, sony has better autofocus, but its still good enough on the S5II. Nikon has internal RAW, but a you pointed out, less dynamic range. Canon might have better dynamic range, but worse IBIS...the S5II gives you around 90% of everything, while packing in a bunch of features you don't get in other cameras, for a discount...best value. it's like, if you could only have 1 camera when you are rushing out of the house, and didn't know what you were going to shoot, the S5II would probably be a safe choice and cover you in most cases.

Exactly! Also when you pair it with a Blackmagic VA it's image is just as organic and flexible as the Pyxis. It's hard to go wrong with it.

@@EricShaquille I'm debating getting the BlackMagic Video Assist right now....

It has design flaws that seem a bit outdated but BRAW is such an awesome codec when taking into account the flexibility for corrections in post and how little drive space it takes up(compared to other flavors of raw)

Crazy good video. I’m honestly currently torn. I want the S5IIX for all of the anamorphic and open gate goodness for still photography and set position anamorphic video, but I also want a multicam one button record setup which I know Sony are probably better at thanks to the monitor and control app. I just can’t afford two systems.
@EricShaquille12 күн бұрын
If you want a camera for open gate photography the Sonys are actually capable of that! They only crop in on the sensor in video mode 🫤 Which Sony camera are you looking at? Cause as much as I love my S5iix, if they were the same price, I would choose an FX3 over it. I just can't justify spending twice as much for a camera that has less features.

@@EricShaquille Thank you for the heads up. I'm wanting to capture anamorphic for video first, but also want photo, and both without a crop. I guess it's looking like two different tools unless lumix have a good Multicam tool that I'm not aware of? As far as Sony cameras it was the FX3 that I was looking at paired with an FX30 for studio top-down. But I want the versatility of the S5IIX, especially when it comes to anamorphic images and the fact that I'm not running and gunning with it. Purely going to be capturing video as if it were a still. Maybe it is two different tools that I need?

Lumix does actually, it's called Lumix Lab. I've never tested it but I imagine there are videos on here about it. It might be worth looking into if you wanna save some money!

Now, the HDMI lag is really something, makes using an external monitor a bit of a challenge. BUT! The latest firmware added options for the HDMI output (like 1080 p and i). I still haven’t try it, but it could be able to get the lag close to the GH5: still noticeable, but small enough to work with. Using a 5” or 7” screen whit a FHD resolution you don’t really need the output in 4K, so, maybe, that issue could already be solved. If you’re recording raw, it’s another thing, I can’t really test it.
