I consider the series Last Kingdom in this category. The main character -Utred- always does the right thing, at great personal cost.

Are there people who DON’T think The Mandalorean is a space western? I mean, I know I’m crossing universes here, but this show smacks of “gagh western” to me. 😄

Firefly/Serenity is another great Sci-Fi Western, but it never got a fair shot

If you want a great western that isn’t your typical storyline, watch the Cowboys with John Wayne and Roscoe Lee Brown. Probably some of the greatest acting, script writing and music of any movie to date. Brown’s bedtime story scene is still a clip I’ll pull up every now and then just to feel inspired.

I do love westerns (the good the bad and the ugly is my FAVORITE old movie), but I hate how they quietly and calmly fall down when they are shot only to have a long monologue. I wish the deaths were more real lol (I’m kinda dark 😅)

Agreed... I still love them, but I think part of the reason they're less accessible today is that we've learned a lot about pacing in the last 30 years!

This is a year that a little bit of stoicism helps with. This is the way.
