Why The Mandalorian Season 3 Isn't Great

The Mandalorian Season 3 has finally started and after watching episode one something felt... off. These are my thoughts on why, what Andor has to with it, and what is in store for The Mandalorian and other Star Wars Disney plus shows.

Just for claifircation, I very much enjoy The Mandalorian and would gladly watch the dad and son adventures of Grogu/Din, these are my thoughts on what thecould do to be more than that :)

Andor is a show that ratchets up the tension with a mini-climax, then starts again... but at a higher tension level... Up... Up... Up... POW! Then back to some pause/and then the story cranks up and as it does this, the world building is immense. Contrast to Mando, EP17- the best parts were the Armorer and how the suit was being constructed. The political side of things are decent, but not even close to what we were seeing weekly in Andor. Its the first week for Mando Season3, so maybe things will coalesce into a more intricate plan. I hope we can all say This is the Way, when Season 3 concludes.

I think the problem is that the mandalorian and andor are two totally separate shows. I honor each of them all the same. If they all felt the same it would be boring and would get old easily. I prefer each story to carry their own path. As long as high quality is maintained in story telling and production Value.

Disney just can’t resist. People like Grogu? Great. All Grogu all the time. They are gonna turn him into an action character because they are inept. People love Feloni and Favrau but they’ve made some questionable choices. Season 2 wrapped so well, should have left that story Grogu arc right there, for a long while at least.

It kinda seems like you came into the whole series from a weird angle. You find it jarring that it's so different from andor, but this is the 1st time they're actually doing an ongoing story for their season instead of an episodic monster of the week, and you think it should have ended after season 2 but season 2 was just finishing up the prologue and now we're ready to start the actual story for this era. Also the idea that just because they don't have a big finale for the end of the story , that somehow means they don't know what is going to happen is absolutely absurd. They know where they are going (restore mandalore, set up thrawn, touch on the Palpatine cloning), They just haven't picked a point and said "that is where we will end it"

Din at this point is an apostate in the eyes of the children of the watch. And he is lost, with out the resort crest so he cannot go back to bounty hunting. So the arc i can see is finding self/ self realization. We know through both Boba fett and ep 1 he seeks redemption and ep 2 is starting with that concept in mind. Sometimes it is better to see where the story goes.

Episodic structure as seen in The Mandalorian ages very poorly, especially for a streaming show in the long term. Everything has changed since Netflix popularized the "binge culture". Binging is how everybody will consume these shows in the future and The Mandalorian has proven to be the kind of show where only half the episodes of a season will progress the main plot. It's rough to binge. As clumsy as they were executed, not even Book of Boba Fett and Kenobi fell into this trap.

Why cant the show just be Mando and Grogu’s life? And clearly he us teaching grogu the way of the mandalore and grogu potentially becoming the second Jedi/Mando in history ? Whats wrong with just .. their life and trials n tribulations .. star wars is goated, anything star wars , for extended amounts of time.. is appreciated lol

3:20 They had to get Grogu away from Luke because if not it would have sealed his fate. The sequels are still canon that means that Kylo Ren destroys all of Luke's New Jedi order killing all of the new generation of Jedi including Grogu. Disney would never dare to kill off their most profitable toy especially if the cause of his death are the sequels, the most hated star wars movies and since they dont want to de canonize the sequels, they had to find a way to keep him alive and safe

Andor was ok as sci-fi , but wasn't star wars. Gina being given the Boot threw a lot of plan into the trash. much of the oddity is due to a change in plans for future wars.
