Fact of the matter is, people just want something to complain about. If it wasn’t this, it would’ve been something else.

I love RDJ. But I just can't see him as Dr. Doom. It seems odd for him to play that role. I know the 2005 Fantastic Four film gets alot of criticism. But I actually love that movie (I don't care for the 2007 sequel or the 2015 film). And I like the actor who played Dr. Doom in the 2005 film.

I agree. Yes this is obviously hail mary casting and last minute in light of what they happened with Jonathan Majors, but RDJ is a phenomenal actor and I cannot wait to see what he brings to Doom. Also, it is too soon to state that this is antithetical to the character of doom from the comics. We don't know what the character will be yet. This is a kin to how people felt about Tom Cruise as Lestat in Interview and he turned out to be a tremendous Lestat. Same with Michael Keaton as Batman.

Like the Chris Evans who is human torch is a multiverse variant of Captain America. Steve Rogers. Same face different name, different history, different everything just the same face. @@Grimjr7 I think the Tony Stark / Doom variant would be (could be) okay, however; We've already seen Doctor Victor von Doom in several "Fantastic Four" movies, but it's always (I think) been a bad (terrible-horrible) version of the character. For this FF reboot I'd like to see a Victor von Doom done accurately. And I fear it won't be, but I think RDJ could do it "right". That said, I'd rather see the real VvD before we see a variant. I don't think a variant would be bad, or wrong, but not to begin with. But I've been wrong before, so... (I mean the Last Star fighter as Johnny Cash? I still find that hard to believe; but he nailed it.)

They brought in an actor we already know has on and off screen chemestry with the other actors/characters, he's an experienced leader and a recent Oscar winner. Yeah I have to reluctantly agree. This was not the win they thought it was. RDJ is always a win, but he had his moment and he nailed it. Anything more risks tainting his legacy and further complicating an already alienating run of things lately. Surely there was another actor that could’ve taken up the mantle of Dr Doom, without resorting to more fan-service. Yeah yeah multiversal variants, alternate Tonys, blah blah yawn. There is a storyline where instead of Reed Richards and Viktor Doom being college roommates, Doom and Stark were instead, and Doom tricked Tony into helping him with an experiment that switched their bodies....because Doom didn't have the backing, finances, or resources Tony had...... who knows where they'll go with this storyline....but the multivererse was introduced for a reason....why not take advantage of it.

Jonathan Majors showed the bean-counters at Disney that they have to make sure that important, integral characters have to be played by good actors who are *not* going to be an image problem. RDJ is bankable, and has shown that he works well and understands (because of his past, especially) that he represents and supports the corporation.

There's a What If story where Doom and Stark were college roommates, long story short, Doom tricked Stark and stole his body leaving Stark in Dooms body with no memory and Doom in Starks body with everything intact.

I can only speak for me, but I love the MCU. I like the shows and I like most of the movies, they entertain me. I can’t help but roll my eyes when people talk about superhero movies needing to go away. No one is holding you hostage, don’t watch. Do I think it is great casting? I don’t know I feel like praising them for bringing back Hugh Jackman and then pulling a 180 and getting mad about the return of RDJ seems a bit hypocritical. While I’m not totally sold myself, I think if they can finally get the fans back in their corner with the Deadpool movie, they have some semblance of an idea of what the fans want. Only time will tell really, we just have to wait and see the next few projects that come out and see if they are back on the rise. That’s my opinion anyway.

I'm so surprised by the hate. Theyve' done this twice in the comics and they'e been pretty damn good. Plus it makes no sense for anyone in the marvel universe to play doctor doom, since we havn't heard of him in this universe yet, Secret wars is a world where many universes come together. it makes sense that the doctor doom that controls battleworld is from another universe. And am i wrong when i calculate that tony stark technically was the villian of 3 or 4 different marvel movies (via his bad technology or bad decisons) And, happily there is no need for an origin story when u already have to origin fantastic four gain. instead you can say instead of this happening this happened.

RDJ is NOT a great actor, he just plays himself. He is the last person I would cast to play Dr. Doom and his audience is primarily Boomers and moms. This move is purely to pump up the stock price for Q3 and its effects for the long term are cataclysmic for Disney.

This is Disney getting their investment back with pure profit to follow. Instead of making a few, fantastic movies, they are flooding us with a bunch of mediocre movies and series. They have done this with both the MCU and the Star Wars universe.

I'm glad RDJ is back tbh but him as Dr Doom is weird. I know theres a comic where something like that happens but now instead of the real Dr Doom everyone is just like this is just an evil Tony Stark

Deadpool & Wolverine was so good that even a kinda weird move like this can’t dampen my excitement. I’ve similarly been kinda checked out since the most recent Spiderman. I’ve watched all of it, but none of it blew me away like the Infinity Saga did even though most of it was mediocre to good (except Quantumania which I turned half way through, hot garbage). After watching D&W though, I am completely invested again, even if it don’t get rewarded for it

disney marvel needs to make money. They know this will put audiences in theatres.. they have by and large stopped catering to the comic audience and have been targeting the mainstream audience. You may get some fan service but at the end of the day, they know what works. They can't afford to take risks until they have gotten more hits under their belt.

Guys RDJ was amazing in The Sympathizer I don’t care if he played someone else in the mcu I think it’s great casting. Just a bunch of haters on the hate march. “I don’t watch anymore so let me crap all over it.” When did it become cool just to hate on stuff?

I don’t know if anyone had a choice. I think they wanted rdj back no matter the cost and told him he could do anything and he chose doom. I think iron man bored him. For him it will be fun to play another character or a variant but for the rest of us it’s not landing for now.
