here's several suggestions for lessening leaky gut Eat a whole food, nutrient-rich diet that avoids foods which irritate the gut Make sure your digestion is working: You can eat a perfect diet, but if you aren’t digesting food appropriately, it is not going to help. Discover and eradicate underlying food sensitivities - eliminate a suspected food for a period of time Find ways to reduce and eliminate stress:eg Prayer, meditation, moderate exercise, adequate sleep, and regular massage Consume gut healing foods and nutrients Balance the gut flora by including appropriate amounts of fermented foods in your diet each day. Find and eliminate gastrointestinal infections Try the use of gut-irritating medications: Lessen exposure to environmental toxins Make sure you have enough sleep and avoid overtraining which are a form of stress to your body. (I read these and the reasons they work from Richala Remedy System site )

Love this. I am so glad that the microbiome is becoming a hot topic. I drink my pink drink everyday with it's added prebiotic XOS which increases akkermansia by 250 times. Feeding those good bacteria is important!!!

I first watched this 4 years ago. I have just watched it again and it has struck me as do very relevant today in the midst of this pandemic. The countries which seem to be doing better in terms of deaths are in these in Asia and Africa those mentioned by Dr Robynne Chuten. A healthy microbiome leads to a strong immune system enabling us to co-exist with

I have to agree, live dirty grow up dirty, that's direct translation from a chinese phrase my grandmother used to say, when she was alive. But later I found that what she really meant was when we live dirty, we have a tendency to withstand dirty as we grow up. Btw I am Singaporean Chinese. Why I knew my grandmother was right? I went with a friend to Bangkok for a short holiday trip. We ate the same food, as we went around the places of interest in Bangkok. After the first day he was down with a serious diarrhea. I am ok, but I have to cut short the trip to return home with him so that he can get the right treatment for his diarrhea. This kind of situation happened to me a few times, when me and my friends ate some street hawker food in the country we visit for holidays, some of my friends would become ill and I am usually ok. Then I remember my grandmother used to say, live dirty grow up dirty. Btw she live in rural area of Singapore, where proper water system was not available then. When living standard improved everybody moved to highrise flats or condo nowadays. But I do agree with the importance of gut flora health, which is actually derive from living conditions not so ideal. Our body might need to learn how to defend itself by having the chance to experience some dirt or filth, especially organic dirt & filth.

I love what she has to say. Especially at 5:27 when she talks about the SCD, and how she listened to her patients who had improved their symptoms through diet. The SCD BTW is not a low carb diet, it is the Specific Carbohydrate Diet. It is about eliminating all complex carbohydrates. It does not limit meat, and does not specify lean meat, but has been demonstrated time and time again to heal Crohn's and colitis. She is Dr. Robynne Chutkan and she has written a book "Gutbliss". But to learn more about the SCD, I would encourage you to visit the official site breakingtheviciouscycle.info

If you look at the science behind the SCD,and how it heals, it is not the elimination of meat but the elimination of complex carbs that has the healing effect. As always what works for one may not work for another, do what is right for you.

Theresa Marion you must be completely delusional. meat is not good for the microbiome. if by complex carbs you mean, potatoes, carrots, sweet potatoes, etc., then you're so wrong. i hate when people like you confuse the message and confuse other people. it's really quite horrible.

I know this tweet is two years old but i'm just reading today. Geesh, I don't understand how you people can be so "sure" of their opinions and even if you are a doctor it doesn't mean you have the answers. Doctors are learning every day along with all of us self doctors. I've been following my gut and health for the last 1.5 years and I introduced beef about 11 months ago and my health has increased significantly. Theresa, I hope you didn't let any of this negativity weigh on you. Do what works for you and trust your gut :)

Donna Gates' Body Ecology promotes also cultured foods to enhance the microbiome, in which she calls inner body ecology with emphasis of an alkalized system. Her original book published in 1995. And Dr. Gerson and the Gerson therapy also does a great job at explaining ways to cure cancer, naturally.

PS: We are working on a "polymicrobial bacteriostat" an antibiotic that equally stops all species of bacteria from growing, even superbugs, and does this across the board according to their species. Thus, the microbiome is preserved without killing all of anything and the bad bugs are capped from growing into infection. So far so good.

I born by c-section and i was not breastfeeding from Mommy, i'm too skinny and i've a couple of months looking for information because i can't gain weight even in a Paleo diet nutrients fully integrated, my question here is: can i repopulate my gut with good guys and make them grow? Maybe that's the way for my body to improve nutrients to absorb up and through exercise and Paleo diet would be improved my underweight status... I'm not Native English Speaker.

+MsUa125 It sounds like you have a damaged digestive system and it would be a good idea for you to find out what's causing it. For example, a friend of mine had the same problem you describe and she almost died from not being able to absorb nutrients. Finally she got tested for celiac and the test was positive. Hopefully you don't have celiac disease but you probably do have some food allergies or other issues that cause you to react like that.

Nicely done ... I will read Dr. Chutkan's book, although I am a follower of the Sonnenburg Lab at Stanford. The Good Gut, and the Sonnenburgs (Justin and Erica) have been on the front-line for 15 years ... Doctors just regurgitate Doctors of Science ... and have little training on nutrition and education to contribute to our knowledge. Unfortunately, half the PhD's are influenced by BigPharma ... Germ-a-Phobes .. are nonsensical considering that there is 100K - 1M bacteria floating in 1 cubic meter of air, and we breath in approx. 11 cumeters/day ... what is the "Definition of Insanity?", and we think sanitizers are the answer, how odd. Correct, Dr. Chutkan is describing a LCHF Ketogenic diet. High proteins are just as bad as high carbs ... Dr. Chutkan must be a fan of Dr. Rhonda Patrick, but I add Broccoli Seeds to my smooth. 70 Going On 100 .. the Centenarian Diet

Just wishing this gave a complete picture of the science instead of cherry picking a few studies... medical schools would teach about diet if there were data showing diet made a difference. But that data isn't out there (for example, with IBDs). Studies coming up that stratify people based on their microbiomes and then get them to try certain diets may be more promising. And then it will be taught in medical schools.

Oh this makes me sick about the antibodies, Her gut is totally destroyed. I have helped so many children because a lot of children are constipated and can't poop. You have to get their gut healthy. Please make sure you have them on a good probiotic. . Not over the counter is good. Please email me and let me help. Antibodies feeds the bad bacteria in your gut causing so many issues.
