Fun fact, using a cheaper pump may result in the air hose failing after heavy usage, I had a bubble form in the line and subsequently burst after we had to air up a truck tire in the middle of nowhere. The hose will get very hot to the touch beforehand though, so fair warning.

I'm curious as to what other manual pump designs there are, this seems pretty inefficient but there must be a reason the design didn't change, maybe a geared bycicle would do great, it could adjust to the load and legs are quite good at hard continuous work.

Can you? Yes, should you? No. You want a air compressor that filter out contamination. That way you won't get any toxicity exposure.

Is you pump slower it’s more efficient. When you pump too fast pressure can be lost past the seals of the pump.

It is still worth it but you really need to buy a mini electric compressor for scuba tanks.

Haha - just do the math. The company tells you you need about 1200-1500 pumps to fill up a 1l tank. That means even if you don’t get tired over time and the pumping wouldn’t get harder due to the higher pressure in the tank you would need about 1h of constant pumping for less than 10minutes of air (at 5m using your own legs to swim). 😂

Seems like the issue is the pump. These are multi-stage pumps, they should have designed the final stage piston/chamber with a diameter of 5.6mm. This would give a reaction (pushback) force of just 50kg when the piston hits 200bar (200kg/cm2 acting on 0.25cm2). Looks like the central final stage piston is too big a diameter. Of course this would need even more pump strokes to fill!

The issue is also the volume… you won’t get 10 minutes out of a single tank if you go deeper than 15 ft.

Take abroad 😮 are you kidding? There's no reason to take all this crap abroad. Don't forget you also need a mask, fins and a snorkel plus a belt with 5-8 pounds of lead. Also, take a diver down marker buoy so as not to get chopped into pieces by a speed boat. Easier to travel with a diving certificate and enjoy yourself. Source; I'm a professional diver

@@Berkcam100% true do some actual scuba diving, this is a dangerous product without the right training, also the amount of air you get is a joke, when I surface from a dive I’d aim to have about 50 bars which is that nearly full. Also to use this properly you’d need a dive watch as well which is about £150 more on top of this. Definitely not worth it

When you are breathing compressed air in water nitrogen bubbles form under your skin. Also breathing a normal mix of nitrogen and oxygen at certain depths can cause narcosis

At depth your lungs hold a ton more air because the air in your lungs is under pressure. At 10m you would eat through this tank incredibly quickly. This among a ton more factors make using this kind of gear without training really dangerous and potentially lethal.

As comical as this could be, if its possible, why not just take it to the gas station and fill it on you your way to the dive? Or invest in at home airpump for your automobile.

Kinda a scam. NO most people are not strong enough to fill the tank by hand pump. Pressure against the pump increases to the point (thousands of psi) that you'd have to be a power lifter.

My handpump for my tires were also a xcam, i had to pump over 500 times for 9bars in each tire! Just buy a electric mini pump it can handle 11bar/150psi easily
