Without overstating the obvious, Gorton and Hughes (GH) are systematically dismantling the Bergevin archaic thinking of slow gritty players for speed and IQ. I can't see Galley, Hoffman and Price being around much longer. I'm not a Galley hater but he epitomizes how the HABS work harder but not smarter. Anyways, I like the direction and I'm still longing for the Lafleur Habs and their glory years.

@@xavierdube6520 It's the 6.5 million dollar salary. He's a warrior and he deserves it but he's on the downslide of his career. There is little doubt the Hughes is trying to dump him to hometown Vancouver or maybe LA where Bergevin can reignite their bro love. I'm not being disrespectful here....Bergevin was all about the personal and not the objective. Why would you give Carey Price 8? years at 10.5M except for loyalty. Yzerman wouldn't do that and he's all about the business and that's what you have to be if you want to win the Cup in this cap era. Go HABS go!

I got on the slavkofski (sp?) bandwagon after he had that interview right after he got picked. He was asked if he was going to make the team in the fall and he simply replied, "I will train, and I will be ready." I don't know why but he convinced me right away. It made me think of the Russian from the Rocky movies, but we got him!!! He's going to be a great Hab, I'm sure we took the right guy 1st overall.

@@DropthePuckHockey Exactly, I dont think Habs are gonna win another lottery, but if they can pick 3rd or 4th, we can either choose Adam Fantilli or Dalibor Dvorsky, two guys who would have been picked first in the last draft. Some people don't know that, but Adam Fantilli is the oldest player of next draft, being born a 12th of October, he's actually going to be 19 even if he immediatly plays in the NHL. I was very surprised when the Habs didn't take Wright 1st overall and thought they made a big mistake... But then NJ passed on him and I was like "hummm...interesting..." ...then Phoenix also passed on him "OK, there is something with Wright that we clearly don't know about...". Finally, Seattle took him... I've read a little here and there and apparently Wright's work ethic is apparently not very good (?)...and I also read a many places that he is a very egocentric player...the "all about me" type... True or not ? I honestly don't know... Time will tell if passing on Wright was the good thing to do or a very big mistake as he could turn out to be an elite player....maybe not a franchise player but within the elite nonetheless...

Trading Romanov was a huge mistake. You think they would have learned after trading Mcdonagh for Scott Gomez and Sergachev for Jonathan Drouin but hey no they keep on making bad trades. Each five years there comes a new savior in the form of a new general manager who try to make the team competitive. The problem with Montreal is that not one general manager since Serge Savard follow their initial rebuilding plan because the media pressure to win instantly is so overbearing that they all panicked eventually and try via bad trades to hit a homer. Kirby Dach is a failure at the same level that Jonathan Drouin is a failure. The Lightning and the Blackhawks are laughing at these trades because they got rid of underachieving prospects that will amount to nothing for hard working defensemen that both are at the top of their game. Right now in the NHL, the teams that have won recent Stanley Cup are teams that have accepted to be not only bad for a time but the worst so they can pick in the early round of the draft. Colorado is no exception, Brisebois with the Lightning did it also and if my memory is good, Stan Bowman with Chicago was the one that start that trend and it pay off big time. Get rid of Drouin, Dach while they are still young, trade Gallagher who spent more time on his knees during Montreal's run for the playoff than a brand new convict in a federal prison. If you look at the histories of two of its last general manager namely Bob Gainey and Marc Bergevin, both guys came in and did pretty well at the beginning but then the media pressure made them do stupid trades like Mcdonagh for Gomez or, in Bergevin's case Sergachev for Drouin. As far as Hughes is concerned, he has already screw it up with Romanov for Kirby Dach. As a good friend of mine said to me recently....I wish I could like another NHL teams but my heart is in Montreal.

The still have terrible contracts which is why they will remain a bad team.I like StLouis but MTL finished 1-7 at home in StLouis don't be fooled by a coach coming in with no chance to do worse it was a win win for him. Claiming Dach was bad because he was on a bad team is a poor excuse. So are we not rating players at all anymore if on a good team they are good and a bad team they are bad? MTL needs D mmen who can skate the puck out creating a great transition game. They also lack going to the net as they are a small perimeter team. They have a LOT of work to do. Easy to say they will improve...how could they not?So by the time their bad contracts are up their prospects will be ready for bigger contracts so nothing will get better on the cap crunch. We all like Suzuki but he makes 7.5 mil as a good SECOND line center he is paid like a first line player but he is NOT that good. You’ll need to go a little further than just pull up hockeydb stats sheets for once in your life on this one, brother. If you wanna understand. You would need to know that Slafkovsky was played on the 3rd & 4th line in Liiga, with poor teammates & poor icetime quality. (AND Liiga is a defensive league. AND TPS Turku is one of the most defensive teams… AMONG this already defensive league). His coach in Turku was a bit of an idiot tbh. When Slafs came BACK from the Olympics… after TORCHING the tournament, being played 20mins a night on the top line & being named Tournament’s MVP… NOWWWW his coach in Turku realized this guy was really good and that he (the coach) had been an absolute DOOFUS for burrying him on the bottom lines. He started putting him on the first two lines, With better players and better icetime… And… CAN YOU GUESS WHAT HAPPENED my little Darcy? Oh yes! Slafs had SIX POINTS in the following SEVEN GAMES. On the other hand… Shane Wright didn’t play last year, right. Well that’s the thing… He COULD HAVE… played By going over to Europe Like other players have (Mason McTavish, Connor Bedard, etc) But NOOO. Mr. Wright decided instead to pick up the GUITAR. And start learning and playing the GUITAR. While other guys were actually getting better at…….. HOCKEY. And also… Beyond hockeydb stats sheets… You know what there is? WATCHING the actual GAMES the players play. Had you actually DONE THAT… THIS YEAR (And not : watch highlights compilations from his 15YEAR OLD ROOKIE SEASON, that goes back 2years) You would’ve noticed what NHL scouts have… Shane Wright was EXTREMELY LAZY. Guy is compared to Patrice Bergeron by the medias, right? HOW COULD THE HABS PASS ON THE NEXT PATRICE BERGERON. Let me ask you this. Does Patrice Bergeron… -arguably the best defensive forward inthe game- does he………. BACKCHECK ????? Cause that seems like the absolute most basic aspect of being good defensively, am I right? Of course he does… RIGHT?! Well Shane Wright DID NOT. This year. AT ALL !!!!!!!
