There’s a ton of sitting scenes that could work great with this gimmick nendroid scheme. I’d personally love that Spirited away scene, plus there’s plenty of comedy moments in other anime that work with the sitting nendos. They just need to think a little to rake in the money from these things

A standard Nendo can me made to sit, although it may need some help. Zenitsu Agatsuma from Demon Slayer and Rohan Kishibe from Jojo are two Nendos which I have posed in natural sitting positions in my review videos.

I seriously hate these things. They all look constipated, but it's like if they were constipated while sitting in on an important meeting in a stuffy boardroom, and they're the farthest from the door, so it would be awkward if they got up and left, so they just sit there uncomfortable and constipated until the meeting is over, but the meeting is never over. Okay, I'm done. 😂

I'm still convinced the Swacchao line is a divine intervention that makes me refrain from spending even more money on this hobby and I'm OK with that. I don't know who even asked for these. I would have much preferred for them to continue the co-de line. At least those can stand and have a fun pose to look at (even if it's a fixed one).

The characters that have iconic moments where they sit are already made to sit in regular nendoroid form though (e.g. Monica, Re:zero's Echidna, L from Death note etc) so it's not like nendoroids never sat before swacchao, it's just a grab to target those who don't want to pay a lot of money for a nendoroid or perhaps those who hate setting them up but like the chibi aesthetic.

It works in the Demon Slayer case though - not something super iconic worth including into the base nendoroid but it's cute to have the option for it. I think this is especially targeting scenes with 2 or more characters

I kinda like the idea, the fact that their like regular nendos means you can get the basic face and hair of a nendoroid that might be hard to attain. For someone like me that puts most of my favorite characters on doll bodies the sitting body doesnt really matter much, but the base for them make them cute to put on my desk. But it does give people the choice to get parts for some of their fav characters without having to pay a lot more money from the aftermarket

When i saw the new demon slayer swachows i thought they were regular nendo rereleases and i got excited, and then was immediately dissapointed. But i was considering how likely it would be to get my hands on the regular nendo version vs just getting the sitting ones.... anyways i would buy a spirited away set with the train seat in a heart beat 🤣

GSC used to make the series Nendoroid code which i was really interested in because the figure looks so cute with the pose and expression. So sad it ended for years ago, and GSC actually decided to make this stupid swacchao series which makes the figure looks like they were forced to sit on the a chair. Ugh, at least Hello! Good Smile existed.

The only good thing about this series is that they are way cheaper than actual nendoroids, specially those like hinata because of his actual price, and it's a good option for people who only want the head so they can make nendolls. Otherwise they suck.

I can imagine the scene from this ongoing anime "My Dress Up Darling" in the swacchao series with the seat from the train, the scene were Marin being flushed after what Gojo said to her. That's kinda fun to see but yeah this swacchao series might be better if they portrait those scenes from animes or any other series to fit in to those sitting positions. But for me, I'll still prefer Normal nendoroids because of it's various poses and possibilities.

i wouldnt mind these if you could actually remove them from the chairs to have them sit at the edge of a shelf. the brown chair legs look so awkward when they’re displayed like that and they’re also going to be visible with the accessories like the mugen train

Arent these more like... extra parts for already excisting nendoroid? You can combine the two releases, right? The purpose might be extra parts, but it would be awkward to sell just a sitting torso and some people might be missed the original nendoroid's release, and wouldnt be buying it. So they give them torso and heads to make it sell easier? Or something?

A Sitting pose in a Nendoroid isn’t completely a new thing. Some Nendoroids already have a sitting pose. And a sitting pose is a desired option depends on your imagination and what you want the character to do. For instance, some characters can sit in a classrooms or sit in a restaurant or a garden bench during a date. There is already Nendoroid Playset that can be used. For the stiff hand position, you can replace it with the original Nendoroid body parts. Can you imagine a scenario you like to make with the Nendoroids you already have? I wish all Nendoroids can have a sitting pose but there is a limit to what you can do. I would have preferred traditional sitting pose for Kimetsu no Yaiba. Also I can’t use most of the existing sitting poses because the sitting parts are unique for each character. I will consider buying the Nendoroid Swacchao only if: 1- I already have the Nendoroid for this character 2- I have scenario in mind for the character to do. I do have Tanjiru, Nezuko and Zenitsu but I don’t want to buy Tanjiru again and Rengoku even though I love him. The train idea is nice though and I’m looking forward to see other people photography for the scene.

When these first started coming out they actually were selling the sitting part as a gsc shop exclusive which I could get behind but they soon found that hurt the profit margins of the full sitting nendo so seems they stopped doing that. Like the mugen train seat and the pose with rengoku and tanjiro is cute but not gonna buy two more sets of the characters to recreate it. I think it's a cash grab on popular series that people keep asking a re-release for lol! I started collecting nendos for the possibility options. They look to robotic and stiff to me like they aren't even sitting naturally.

I think the sitting parts being available separately should be a must for every character if they want to keep doing this. Definitely agree people shouldnt have to rebuy characters they already have.

goodsmile hearing you talk about making sitting spirited away chihiro and no face nendos: WRITE THAT DOWN! WRITE THAT DOWN! because honestly that set i feel would sell well, because not only is it a super cute idea but it also taps into peoples nostalgia for the movie since its effectively been 20 years since it came out and tbh the utter LACK of figures for spirited away and ghibli movies in general is just a goldmine of untapped potential like the COIN i would drop for a kiki figure where shes riding her broom with jiji 😭 its unreal!!! 😭

I wonder if they're targeting a more casual audience, a cheaper option with popular characters seems more likely to appeal to those who would never buy a 'real' figure. It also does make sense from a japanese perspective I guess, as the swacchaos have a tiny shelf footprint and japanese apartments can by really small. I have the Miku and honestly I like the figure (It's silly, cute and cheap and the pose is actually ok; sitting poses stand out on a nendo shelf) but the price of them seems to be going up already. I don't know if I'll get any/many more. Co-de was the best budget nendo line but it seems to be completely dead sadly. I would definitely like to see more fun chairs like the mugen train one.

Yeah casual market is probably where they're aiming but I feel like they're not significantly cheap enough (still not competing close to Pop prices). Feels like they're more competing against themselves than anything lol.

i personally hate how robotic all of them look, but if they were to do sets like the mugen train type, i think it might fly better. Imagine they sell a set of the duo chair and little accessories for the nendos to hold while theyre at it. For example your 2 fav charas sitting on a garden bench holding bento boxes with their eating faces from their original nendo boxes. Think that would be a cute idea. This would just be like treating the swacchao series as a accessories set for the nendoroids then.

Yeah! I've usually liked what they've done with the Nendoroid More accessories and I wouldn't really have a problem with any of this if that's how it was presented. It being its own super generic product line really hurts it imo

i bought the normal atsushi nakajima nendo, the pilot airport version of the nendo (basically just him but with a big hat) and i intend to buy the swacho atsushi nakajima when it goes up for preorder. This is because I would like to have him posed with different faces in different ways, but i feel silly buying three of the original nendo for this, so this at least gives me an excuse to buy a "different" product than what i already have

I think Swacchao is money-milker products. Good side, you'll have spareparts (head and body) with cheaper price. Bad side, you add more money for little value (sitting lower body).

I have about 8 Co-De nendos! It was really nice to get them honestly beacuse if the anime they were from you can switch their outfits around with one another. Necks are a but fiddly though but that's all figures that have joints

I think like you said if they start making props that go with the shows or games with these they will blow up If they made Kingdome hearts ones with a seat that looks like the tree Sora, kairi, and riku sit on it would be over or if they made fruits basket ones so that toru could sit on a roof with kyo all my money is gone

You better believe I wasn't missing out on one of my favorite series when it came to the three main Konosuba girls. Yuppers, they got me by the ballies!

I just got the deku and todoroki swacchao nendos, and I must say they look much cuter in real life! the paint job is gr8, they're nice and heavy, and they don't look as awkward as in the pictures online. they actually look rlly cute tbh! U can move their heads, arms, hands, feet, and rotate their body. Personally idc abt the body since I'll be using only the head to make custom nendolls anyway

aw man, co-de is dead? been wanting to get back into collecting after i stopped in 2016 (only have 3 nendos and a prize fig really wish i bought more back then because everything is so expensive now) and i was thinking of eventually buying some of those. i don't mix my nendoroid parts or go wild with poses so they're a good option for me especially for the price. i don't think they weren't even that bad of an idea bc some of the newer nendoroids already feel... fixed, in a way? like when i compare miku 2.0 to nt i'm just disappointed and underwhelmed by the options nt has. same with the project sekai mikus. AND THEY'RE SO PRICYYY! they sometimes make nendos that resemble the old ones tho like the 15th anniversary miku. ordered that one because although she's a bit pricier than the others, at least she comes with so many parts, a special stand and an acrylic stand and its quality is very good from what i've seen. but yea overall i'm disappointed with the direction nendoroids are going, they're pumping out so many yet they seem to be getting worse (with some exceptions) also not a fan of swacchao for the reasons you said, they seem boring to me

I think co-de worked a bit better since a lot of the series they did were for kids (ie: pripara) so they worked nicely as 'kid's nendoroids' a lot of the swacchao ones are just characters who already have a ton of options for nendoroids (and even some have nendoroid dolls) so it just feels like they're trying to squeeze out some money drops from already over shilled characters as opposed to making something for a younger audience.

I canceled my Reimu swacchao nendoroid and paid about 9000 yen aftermarket for her normal 2.0 version. The price leap hurts but she's just so much better. GSC can be a great manufacturer but they are really out to make the most profit and it's showing through these products. I do like the idea of having customized seating options though.

I know one reason why someone would want a Swacchao nendo is to decorate/have them sit on the ends of their bookshelves. Personally, if I was going to get a figure to have sitting on my shelf, I'd rather get a noodle stopper figure than a Swacchao nendo 😅 While I don't personally like the sitting nendos, I do agree they're probably going to make a lot of money from them just because of the popular IPs they're using.

It is an insult to older nendoroids. For example, lucky star Kotona No.27D, that was released in 2010, had two face plates, removable cat ears and tail, newspaper with stickers to emulate the contents, standing and sitting skirts and legs along with chair (and not this weird one, but stylised school one, which made sense in the lucky star setting). Unless people really like the character and nendo design, I see no point.

There's no cheaper option for me in this hobby because of the shipping and the import 😂 I'd rather buy figures that are more expensive individually for it to worth the extra fee I'll just have to pay. Buying more figures in one shipment doesn't really solve the problem for me because I'm not a huge buyer and more boxes means higher cost on shipping and duty. So no I probably won't pay for cheap figures with relatively big boxes because with the shipping fee they're just not worth it. Unless I want it badly of course. It could happen. You never know.

the chairs look hideous. they may look better with somewhat nicer chairs. if I had to work on these, I would design them sitting on pillows. then the pillows also can have different colors and patterns, and it might look comfier. and yeah, their pose is so stiff it looks awkward. honestly don't get the appeal of these at all.
