I disagree, how often on your drive do you actually ever get to go full throttle for more than 10 seconds? Unless you are on the autobahn, you will probably never get less power than you are asking for. With that being said, it should still have come with a V8 instead. That nearly 500hp 2L 4-cyl is an astonishing engine, but this is still an AMG, and you buy them for the V8s.

No bullshit, bashing the weight of the cars and properly mentioning that they handle well, but would be better if they were lighter. And I don't get the "safety excuse" because with modern alloys and polymers, you can make make light cars. Giulia is a light car, and even the SUV Stelvio QV is lighter than the new M3 (forget the C63). Porsche 911 and Alpine can make very light cars without the use of exotic materials and keeping safety features, so there is no need for "small" saloons to be 2000kg on the scale. It's really a shame Alfa never made a Giulia Touring. My Giulia QV rides much better than an M3, I think largely because its a bit lighter, but also because the suspension is more advanced despite being 8 years old. I'm a little confused. I owned a M340d until recently, was three years old and have now purchased a M340i in replacement. sadly they've stopped production of the M340d. I understand the M340d was a little heavier ( 75kg ) due to the diesel lump up front. That car ran on 19 inch run flats. The M340i is fitted with 18 inch non- run flat tyres. The ride on uneven country roads in the M340i is noticeably poorer than the diesel equivalent, although I'm lead to believe they have the same set up? It should win on engineering alone. It seems the biggest criticism is that it has a boot smaller than a Golf hatchback.

So I say bravo BMW. Mercedes unfortunately bet the wrong way, screwed the pooch and this new C63 will bomb as far as sales are concerned. Standby for the facelift to have a straight 6 or V6 engine.

As a mercedes guy there is no doubt anyone affording one of these should totally go for the BMW. The only acceptable performance hybrid out there is the panamera.

An Alpine A110R was beaten by a few seconds in a small twisty track by a M3 Touring with a Thule trunk on top in a spanish channel (check Garage Days by Dani Cuadrado -former racing driver-). I think that says enough of how extremely good it is. Greetings from Spain.

Hate the amg 4 banger, but gotta love the innovation and engineering marvel that has been put into the amg, appreciate that a lot even you hate the engine

The AMG C ”63” isn’t even available in North America because dealers don’t think they can sell them, and they’re right. I think a redesign is coming quickly with an I6 or V8

I’m continuing to struggle with BMW’s new “design language” if stacking odd bits of bumper and trim on top of one another, multiple times over even considered design language.

The 296 is utterly amazing. Yes it’s a v6 but it sounds incredible. The car is better than the F8 in every way. However with the Merc the change to a 4 and all the weight is a step too far.

I think making a case for either of these cars is difficult when the previous generations of both exist. I dread to think what issues are going to arise when that AMG gets to 5 or 10 years old. I can't see a 2 litre engine pushing nearly 500hp being very reliable...

Why couldn't Mercedes use the V8 engine out of the SLK55 AMG that can be driven using only 4 cylinders Combined with electric power instead?
@gazman94682 ай бұрын
That first shot tells all - Merc thinking that the instant torque from the electric would make up for the complete lack of sound and character. I bet a compact V6 wouldn't have weighed much more than the I4 in the Merc. But then they couldn't have just lazily fitted an existing engine. They'll now blame poor sales on lack of demand for fast estates. Both of these cars are far too heavy though at least the BMW is the right side of the 2 ton mark.
@Schaems_du_disch_nisch2 ай бұрын
Both looking good, but the m3 is just aaa🤤
@markmicallef43672 ай бұрын
I'm sure that 90% of the people commenting negatively wouldn't know it's a 4 cylinder engine unless they watch this vid! The BMW has an uncomfortable ride, always. I'm sure F1 and LM engineers would beg to differ with these experts comparing smaller bore engines and weight.

While I believe the car that represents the C63 should exist in Mercedes’ line up, just not in C63 form.
@E63s_Scott2 ай бұрын
That side by side shot shows how good that c63 looks, here’s the kicker… yep you know what I’m about to say! NO V8 everything else except the weight and no v8 would make me go merc! It’s a stunning car especially in that spec. Unfortunately It’s heavier than my damn E63S! Yet i still have way more leg room and full power on tap at any point, hopefully amg listened and saw the abysmal sales have can stand up to this euro NONSENSE emissions scam and see sense
