Also, most of us believe the weight of postseason expectations has been a mental barrier that Judge hasn’t been able to climb. Can you imagine how much larger that barrier becomes if he doesn’t have Soto around to take the pressure off of him?

Pete lets be honest lets say the yanks bring in bregman walker and teoscar/verdugo instead of soto and they can put teoscar/verdugo in left dominguez in center and judge in right and their outfield will be solid and the lineup can be Volpe, Chisholm, Judge, Wells, Walker, Teoscar, Stanton, Bregman, Dominguez THATS A CRAZY LINUEP so would you rather soto or that lineup, its close but I here you.

I will say this, give Soto an offer he can't refuse as long it doesn't impact other needs on the team. Give him opt out clauses in the event he wants to test the market in his early 30s. When Judge is struggling and you have Soto in the lineup it doesn't look as painful. When there was no Soto in prior years and Judge struggle it felt like a domino effect where the rest of the batters couldn't get it going.

Let’s say Soto comes back. Where can the Yankees get better realistically. Hopefully full year of Cole, what happens at 1st what happens at 2nd Torres was good after his benching probably won’t be back. Can Durbin at 2nd and or Rice make a difference at 1st. Can the NYY’s look to trade for Crochet (probably cost Dominguez plus) will they sign Burnes probably not. How about Scott for the BP. The Yankees weren’t good enough with Soto lots of questions to follow this offseason. Hopefully it will be interesting and productive. Watch NYY Underground to stay informed.

The potential problem about walking away from Soto is the organization would spend the next 20 years trying to find the next Soto. Also, the organization hasn’t done a good enough job with a supporting cast to sustain the loss of Soto. I also don’t trust them to use Soto money to properly institute an acceptable Plan B.

My prediction is that Soto signs with the Red Sox. It is considered a long shot, but Soto would be the perfect guy for the Sox to finally open the checkbook. And to steal him from the Yankees would be too sweet to pass up. Boston is one of the six or seven teams that have contacted Soto.
