It always surprises me when some poorly educated person tries to argue that the Panama Canal's issues will be solved by climate change... "Sea level will rise!." They can't understand the difference between this and the Suez Canal. 28 meters above sea level... most of the coastal cities of the world would be under water if the oceans were to rise that much! 😂

Whilst you may well be making some valid points, please try to ensure your imagery is at least accurate. The canal traffic always looks like it does in the early moments of this post. There are always 20 or 30 ships waiting for passage. These queues are not an indicator of system failures

I think this video is remarkable for the quality of the visuals and their relevance to the commentary. "The canal traffic always looks like it does in the early moments of this post" tends to support the accuracy of the imagery.

They could EASILY afford to simply pump and desalinate ocean water to replace the existing water. Mexico isn't going to work because companies are still going to need to have ships on the Gulf coast to receive cargo. Either that, or they'll have to rapidly develop their freight corridors up to the US and that isn't going to happen under the new Mexican government. Nicaragua is a piss poor country and any funding for that potential canal would have to have to come externally. Not only that, but the USA is NOT going to let any foreign powers get control of a shipping corridor that is just south of its major population and oil centers along the Gulf Coast.
