Just wanted to share an in depth walk around and review of the 1199 Panigale S. In my opinion I think the Panigale is the best SuperBike ever made. Do you guys agree? Which bike do you think is best?

The best ever made? Thats a bold statement for any bike, its is a great one, for sure, but very expensive for a new one to ride and maintain, but if I owned a Ducati it would be the Superleggera, well, try to own one :) superleggera.ducati.com/en/chapters/1299-superleggera

Awesome review Jaret... Ducati makes the most beautiful bikes on the planet. Insanely fast with unbelievable handling... I ride a 2015 Multistrada S (Seductress) that is a bit over 500 lbs. She pumps out 160 Hp and 103 lb/ft of Torque. She is so well balanced and flickable, that those 500# melt away to nothing while riding... 👍😊

The only reliability issue I've had with the 1199 was a malfunctioning gear position indicator. When the bike got hot it started twitching on the display between neutral and first gear. The dealer fitted a new indicator under warranty.

where I live you see a lot of Ducati's, might have something to do with the dealership down the road that sells Ducati's BMW's Truimps and Aprillia bikes. Can't really say which is the best as we all have our own tastes and styles.Far as the moto mag's say the BMW 1000RR is top dog right now I ride a 2015 GSXR 750 and couldn't be happier with it but I do drool over the MV Agusta F3 800. That R3 looks great with the red and black, hope to see more of You Christine and your dad out riding together. was worried he was going to crash in the last video as he couldn't take his eyes of the Ducati
@JaretCampisi
@JaretCampisi 7 жыл бұрын
haha yeah the BMW S1000RR might be the most precise bike and easiest to ride but I'm most concerned with which bike is the most fun. Which one makes me most excited about going down to my garage when I wake up and wanting to ride it and for me, the ducati has been by far the most fun bike I've ever ridden.
@rachelortiz1363
@rachelortiz1363 7 жыл бұрын
your argument was half baked, the 2013 Panigale 1199 runs a slower quarter mile time than the 2010 CBR1000RR (CBR - 9.7 while the Ducati - 9.9 and even a 10 in some quarter miles ~ depending on rider) I've viewed videos of people who aren't even pros running 9.8's on a CBR. -- And yes I know .3 s is not much at all, however for a 3 year and upwards of $7k price difference, the Ducati looks bad on paper. Ducati's are pretty but have alot of hype to them, they are not a good bike for what you pay for. they're purely a name and maybe a track bike, a bike you buy to sit in the garage until you save up enough money to take it out, because when you get back it will be in the shop. Crappy reliability, horrible price point. As well - have you ridden a CBR1000RR or an S1000RR or a ZX10-R? how can you say that the Ducati is the most fun? its just fun for you. You bought into they hype which is your decision, but I don't think it was a solid argument for this bike being anywhere as good as you claim it to be.
@JaretCampisi
@JaretCampisi 7 жыл бұрын
You make some great points but for me I'm not concerned about what is the fastest or even the best value...its all about what is the most fun. I have actually ridden the BMW S1000RR during the same week I had the panigale and man its a great bike don't get me wrong but it really felt soulless to me after being on the panigale. But you are right for me its my favorite bike, won't be everyone's cup of tea...but I do think it has a unique story and that's what makes it so special compared to all the other liter bikes.

awesome vid. the 1199 was a beast but the 1299 is where its at. The 1199 didn't have the semi active suspension and was full of character.The 1299 was a huge step forward and would eat the 1199 alive in any situation. Awesome vid, keep it up.

Nice walk-around overview of the bike! I went on a shop ride on mine today in the California foothills, and this video brought a smile to my face. That 1199 is beautiful, especially in that special white matte finish, and the Termi exhaust sounds great, too. If you take the plunge and get a 959 or 1299, I would just caution you to take your time and really get used to the bike before going too crazy. The limits--including handling, engine braking, and acceleration--of that thing are just unreal.
@JaretCampisi

A few more points, after I watched your first ride video of the 1299: The fuel light comes on at around 80 miles (110 on the Monster), but you have only used a little over 2 gallons at that point, so you still have easily another 80 miles left. Mine gets around 38-39 mpg. The racing seat is even better than the stock seat. It is a little denser and has a more grippy surface to prevent sliding around, for instance under engine braking. You get used to the turn signal cancel switch (requires a firmer push than on the Monster, for some reason) so that you don't pull up the modes menu. Even if you do, the menu cancels itself after several seconds. Also, the false neutrals and other shift issues go away after you spend time with the bike and learn how to allow the shift lever to fully cycle through each shift. In fact, the 1299 shifts much more smoothly than the Monster. It is a really well thought out bike, and the depth of engineering that went into it becomes more and more apparent as you spend quality time, getting to know the bike. It does get hot, especially in traffic in hot weather, but then again you are sitting on an engine generating over 200 horsepower, so I think that is to be expected.
@JaretCampisi
@JaretCampisi 7 жыл бұрын
Right on really appreciate all of the feedback and I've experienced a lot of what you mentioned after riding the bike for last week. I was actually averaging around 31 mph and when just cruising was closer to 50 mpg! And I was actually getting plenty of miles from the tank while riding as well.

Ducati motorcycles have a distinct sound. You can tell when a Ducati is approaching your neighborhood. I live NYC. And you can always see and hear a Ducati rolling through the blocks. But the Panigale is rare one to see. I usually see the monsters. That's there naked motorcycle. But they are very well made. And from what I heard. Each bike is made and built by individuals. Not like a robotic assembly line. They are hand assembled in there factory. Enjoy that pearl. She's a beauty.

Nice to hear the history about Ducati. They're most people's dream bike and I'd much rather have on of those than, say, an H2. I think that model year it was 415 lbs wet...unless the Termigioni drops the weight below 400 lbs, which would be a huge weight savings. Even at 415 lbs, for a litre bike it's a marvel. And, from what I've heard, there's nothing like the usability of a v-twin for street applications.
@JaretCampisi
@JaretCampisi 7 жыл бұрын
Cerebral Method yes you are correct and the termi does drop a fair bit of weight but I didn't know the exact amount. And yes the L twin is insanely fun for the street actually. Tons of useable power and an absolute blast to ride

Interesting. It's a V configuration, but called L to signify Ducati's innovations to help with cooling and vibration reduction. And, the Termignoni bumps the output by 5 hp. I think I want to test ride one, haha.

congrats man...and I honestly used to think the same thing but the bigger panigale actually has power almost immediately in any gear where as I found I had to rev the 959 in order to hit the power band and have any fun on it...so I think the bigger bike is actually better for the street as you can do pulls and get immediate power and have a lot of fun without ringing it out.

You can't say Ducatis are reliable if you've never owned at least one. I do own one, and so far it's been great. But you get my point. I get the sense at some level you think if you keep saying how great a Panigale is someone will buy you one, cut you a deal for one, or let you buy one. Man up.

I legitimately just wanted to share my love for the machine and argue against all the hate I see towards the ducati brand of people saying they are overpriced, under-performing and unreliable. I think there is a lot that goes into a ducati that make them very unique and I don't think much of it is common knowledge so I just wanted to share some in hopes that people might come to have a better understanding of what makes them so special to me :)

With Ducati- my Subjective CON is the engine sound. It just sounds like a bunch of cans rattling around a beautiful bike. It just sounds like it's breaking. But then again to some people they like that. Lookwise: it is stunning. I have a ZX10R RED 2012. if ever upgrade my bike it will always be a ZX10R. or maybe a KAWI H2!!! Hmmmm!? But yea Kawi for me is the best bike.

Dude, c'mon. $25,000 base price for a 1200cc superbike is WAY overpriced. It's ridiculous. It's a rich person's machine; a status symbol. They look gorgeous, but the maintenance is stupid expensive, and you'll never get to use the full potential of the engine on the street, so all that power is pointless. You're buying a $25,000 piece of art. I'll take a base R1 for $16,500 over this and even that is an insane amount of money. If you have money to burn, I guess go wild, but I live in the real world where most people don't have that kind of money to spend on a motorcycle.

Excellent video on the history of Ducati and this amazing motorcycle. I'm still debating whether to add a Red 1299 S to my bike collection. It would look pretty sweet next to my BMW S1000RR with a Hawaiian sunset as a backdrop. Keep up the great vids Jaret, you are one of the better KZbinrs out there in my opinion. "We Are!" 😎🤙

FirebladePilot oh dude a fellow motovlogger and penn stater! And you lucky bastard. Haha Get the panigale you won't regret it. I actually did a first ride on the new BMW s1000rr and although it's an amazing bike I found it to be quite bland compared to the ducati. The character of the duc is tough to beat.

Jaret I am a fellow motovlogger, but unfortunately did not attend Peen State (I'm a Georgia guy), however I have 6 or 7 great friends that did graduate there. I will send you DM on Instagram, with their names and maybe you'll know some of them. What years did you attend? I watched your vid on the new S1000RR. It doesn't seem much different than my 2014. I'm thinking about trading in my CBR1000RR for a duc. We'll see!!! Aloha!

@JaretCampisi 7 жыл бұрын
Oh right on! I was there from 2001 to 2005 :) And I'd say see if you can get a test ride on a panigale before you trade it in for the fireblade because they are completely different. I'd say the honda is probably a much "better" road bike but the ducati would be more fun when you get used to it.

Ducati's don't sound the same as they use to. A friend of mine had an 888 with Termi pipes years ago and you could feel the sound punch you in the chest from half way down the street. They just don't thump the way they used to and haven't for years.

I would argue most don't buy a bike because its a "good" purchase. We buy motorcycles because we love them and they make us more happy than almost anything else in the world. But yea you are right...a lot of these liter bikes are pretty absurdly expensive. haha

i partly agree with you bro...i think the panigale is the "best looking" visually attractive motorcycle...but if you go by performance, i think the s1000rr is hard to beat....all said and done i would still buy a panigale....coz i'd rather ride a good looking bike than a technologically advanced bike....coz on the street, looks matter and performance matter only on race tracks...

Thats a great list. I think it really comes down to why you are listing them that way. For me its all about fun on the street as I'm not a GP racer nor do I take them to the track. And for street riding I've had the most fun by far on the panigale. But honestly its really just personal preference.

Ducati has a 33% failure rate, they are on average going to cost you around an extra several hundred a year for maintenance costs and then when comes the dreaded valve adjustments and you get hit with that $1500 Ducati Italian bike tax you're going to shed a tear. On top of the already outrageous asking price for the bike, don't get me wrong they are beautiful machines but they certainly are built for the wealthy in mind. If you have a more modest budget get a Japanese bike you will be very satisfied taking a Duc to town on the twisties and still have a few thousand in the bank. Ride the other side of the red spectrum, get a Honda.

For me I'd rather get a cheaper bike that I can beat up and not care so much about if I crash. I mean I feel like I wouldn't ride a nice Ducati to its fullest for the fear that I would crash it. I guess the only reason I would buy a Panigale over a R1 is just for visual aesthetics and the brand name. But to each his own.

The reality is Ducati does have a reputation for being unreliable and overpriced. Are they anymore unreliable than any other super sport? Maybe, maybe not. However, with the price difference, it probably shouldn't even be a question. But you can't call everyone wrong who has had (bad) personal experiences with Ducati, just because it's your favorite bike. Just the fact that many people feel the same way, is probably not a coincidence. That being said, it also doesn't mean they aren't nice bikes. Not my cup of tea, personally. I'll stick with the mechanical nature of my f4, rather than electronic everything with modes, settings, and all that fluff. But they certainly are nice bikes. Just not worth the price tag in a lot of peoples eyes. That's why I think its best to stay away from declarations like "best", "wrong", and that kind of stuff. It just starts to become too fanboy-ish. Its all subjective, and everyone has their preferences.
