Can the Panthers make it a whopping FOUR IN A ROW on Sunday? 💚

The Panther’s determination to send off Fisher-Harris, Luai and Turuva off with one last premiership will definitely make this game a thrill. Up the Panthers🔥🔥🔥

Agree 100% with your comments. I think the Panthers machine will click into grind mode and slowly breakdown the storm with their mental toughness. I think Leota is an awesome forward, so underrated, who will shine again for Penrith. Cleary feels he has a debt to repay to his team after missing so much football this year and will rise to the big the occasion. Missing the Origin success this year has also lit a fire in his belly. This will be the best GF we have seen since Cowboys V Broncos. Strap in Leaguie you are gonna witness history being made this Sunday!

As a Panthers fan since 1980 (long before they started winning with any regularity!), I'd love to see "my" boys take it home again. But I suspect the Storm might just have what it takes to win this one. Not by much, but I think they'll do it.

A Penrith 4peat. Almost unbelievable. If you look at competitive top level league across different sports, a 4peat is something that as good as never happens. It is next to impossible to pull that off in a competitive environment. And even if they lose, 5 consecutive GFs still. This raises the question, are the Panthers just so insanely good, or is there something wrong with the NRL? Or did just a lot go the Panthers’ way? Probably a bit of all three. One way or the other. This Penrith era needs to be studied. One of the greatest dynasties in sports history.

What we’ve seen is a club with one of the biggest junior bases in the NRL finally take advantage of that junior base. That’s how they’ve been able to regenerate the way they have. It’s a club with the organisational calibre of the Storm + Roosters, but with a junior base. Pair that with the greatest player of the modern generation at halfback, and you’ll definitely get long lasting success.

@@TheLeaguie Forgive me my ignorance of the specifics of player recruitment in the NRL, but I do I understand it correct that it is comparable to that of European soccer? You have academies and feeder clubs right? Penrith is a club from a region with probably the highest density/number of Rugby League talent. By saying they have a big junior base, do they not have a structural advantage over other NRL clubs? I mean, looking at the talent they acquired and developed, it’s insane. Is changing the laws regarding talent acquisition not up for discussion?
@TheLeaguie3 ай бұрын
@@LomuHabana No worries at all - you are correct. It’s definitely an imbalance that Penrith have a massive, prosperous junior area, while other clubs don’t. But that being said - there’s much more to success as a club. The tigers have a massive junior base too. The storm and roosters have no junior bases. For that reason, it’s not a priority

@@TheLeaguie As an outsider. Someone with no horse in the race, honestly, this season reminded me more of what I used to watch in European soccer. Very predictable, two teams completely dominating the rest. And it was no incident. Those teams have been dominant forces for years. As I said, a 4peat is “not supposed to happen”. It would be a different story if it was close, but Penriths record and how they dominated over the last years blows you away. For me, it was quite boring, certainly the finals series. I had a lot of time this year but I don’t know if I’ll follow the NRL to the same extend when I am more busy IF this is what I have to expect. If I were in charge I would at least look at possible changes. This is not good advertisement for the NRL. But nothing to take away from Penrith. Massive club on every level. Nathan Cleary probably the greatest League footballer of all time at this point. His significance for the Panthers is comparable to that of Patrick Mahomes for the Chiefs. Privileged to see him play. Together with Ivan the best father and son combination I have witnessed. Anyways, looking forward to the internationals now. Cheers.

@@LomuHabana I definitely don't disagree, but I'm not sure there is a realistic fix. To me, the biggest issue is a lack of coaching talent. I don't think it's a shock to see Bellamy, Cleary and Robinson finish in the top 3. There are up and coming coaches, like Craig Fitzgibbon, Cam Ciraldo and Andrew Webster. But it'll take a while before they reach that level. Players will always take unders to play for the best coaches, and I'm not sure we can solve that

*since the broncos in 92 and 93 on your back to back salary cap era point.
@TheLeaguie3 ай бұрын
Yeah no that was intentional. There technically was a ‘salary cap’ in place back then, but it wasn’t ever enforced to any meaningful level. I suppose it would’ve been more right to say they were the first club under the salary cap to go back to back… but obviously then it starts to sound like a ‘salary sombrero’ joke 😂
