Why the predicted "red wave" failed to materialize in midterm elections

Right-wing media and Republican politicians predicted a "red wave," even a "red tsunami," in this year's midterm elections, but it failed to materialize, as Democrats successfully defended their hold on the Senate, and (as ballots continue to be counted) are keeping the House in play. Correspondent Martha Teichner looks at the factors that experts say contributed to the Republicans' weak showing: election denialism, and Donald Trump.

I think abortion is what killed Republicans more then anything. Most of the country is not in favor of banning abortion. Politicians in republican party should have told the Supreme Court to back off on abortion. To find a way to delay it till after mud terms. I don't really agree with Republicans on abortion but I don't agree with Democrats either. The gun issue was another one. I think there lot of Americans who are in favor of gun control. Republicans wouldn't back down and I think this also hurt them as well. I also think Biden student loan bill also contributed to helping the democrats. Which is a dumb bill on so many levels. It sucks that democrats will have control of the senate. I was hope we would push them out paving way for a Republican president and maybe get this country head down a decent path. Sadly that won't be the case; not for a while any way.

A gun has zero rights, as it is an inanimate object. Humans have rights to OWN guns, thanks to the 2nd Amendment. I’m sorry you don’t like the fact that killing a fetus is frowned upon, and that people want to abolish it. But someone gets shot and killed, you say “ah that’s sad”.
