Even though love is a powerful emotion which if not controlled, can lead to the dark side, love can be a changing factor that can make a person better in every way. Revan for example from knights of the old republic was able to his future wife Bastila from the dark side because of his love. Even though he was later kicked out of the jedi order, he was able to find that having emotions was ok as long as you control them. So eckharts is trying to be something beyond what a jedi can do. For that, I applaud him :3

@@jonskowitz , According to the Legends time line... they were only on Hoth for a few months and that there was a 2 year gap between Episode IV and Episode V... the Empire should have had the ability to take Yavin IV's base within weeks... Where (Which Book?) did it say that the Rebels refused to abandon Yavin IV?

Yeah, basically. And looking cool gets you followers which gives you more people to use against the enemy which they REALLY needed in order to actually BE as cool as the looked. In other words "Fake it till you make it" basically. They got lucky with the Death Star, pretended it was all planned, then actually got good fromthe support they recieved lol

If only the Empire never brought the Executor. However, even if they pulled it off, they'd still have to evacuate Echo Base. I think a good permanent base of operations would be good somewhere in the Unknown Regions.

I loved your answer to that question at the end. I was like that too back in the day. I saw all 6 of the old Star Wars movies back in 2005, I believe I was 10 years old at that point and quickly became infatuated with those ships and dissecting them with my mind. Nowadays I'm taking that to the next step, following in EC Henry's footsteps with animations.

Good insights. I remember playing Star Wars Rebellion on PC. The game starts right after the destruction of the first Death Star. The first couple of times I played, I immediately evacuated Yavin. But realized at another play through that the Empire really wasn't going after Yavin at all. Evacuation wasn't necessary.

A very nice video. I'd be very interested in a follow up video on how the Rebels established Echo Base on Hoth and what kind of challenges they faces along the way there. I think the X-Wing Expasions "Imperial Pursuit" and "B-Wing" do a nice job showing the journey to Hoth, especially the part with the shortage of grain.

The evacuation of Hoth went "okay"!? The Rebels abandoned huge amounts of gear to frantically pack up their transports as fast as possible, the troops defending the base took murderous losses on the ground, their "fleet" were so threadbare that they could barely afford to send _two_ fighters to escort each transport, and even with covering fire from the ion cannon, they still lost more than half of the ships that managed to get off the ground the first place. Hoth was a _disaster_ for the Rebel Alliance.

Read the graphic novel "A Death Star Is Born": Palpatine didn't think the Death Star Project is a good idea; oh, he understood the politics of it alright; and thought that *that* detail was a good idea- but he had a lot of criticisms of the design; including inadequite bathroom facilities for the crew, and an exhaust port that he said that if he had a nickle for every yahoo who could pilot in one of his ships and destroy the reactor he could build two such stations- near perfect quote by the way.

Vader already knew the Death Star was going to be destroyed, when he was sent to erso apartment to investigate their disappearance he came across kyber crystals that they had left behind. and here's the kicker the said kyber crystals triggered Vader's third site which gave him a glimpse of the destruction of the Death Star, so technically Vader already knew that the deathstar would be destroyed he just didn't know when it would happen.

I kind of like the Canon/Saga idea where the Rebels just booked it because the Empire essentially said "F*ck you, we're sending Death Squadron with this shiny, shiny new big-@ss dreadnought". Kind of undermines the power of the Empire if they can't retaliate against the Rebels.

Much like many kids I didn't grow up with much. But as a treat my mom would take me to the local grocery store, and they had 50 cent movie rentals. And I kid you not I would cycle through the OT every week. From New hope to return of the jedi. Each time, more magical than the last.
