Most of our treasury bonds are owned by rich people. And the interest is paid by tax payers. So you can see why the rich hate to pay taxes. They'd just be paying their own interest. It's also interesting that fund managers charge fees based on the wealth they're managing but we pretend the federal government can't. Again, rich people just hate paying taxes. And our economy is circling the drain as the capitalists jack up prices and drive down wages. If only somebody warned us about this sort of thing hundreds of years ago: “The true measure of a nation's wealth is not the size of its king's treasury or the holdings of an affluent few but rather the wages of the laboring poor”- Adam Smith

Yield curve inverted for over 500 days. Last times this happened, it didn't go well for equities (1929, 1971, 2008). That's also how you get treasury bonds bought, as it escapes the equities markets. In short, they need a black swan to scare the markets, shake out equities, thus pushing more capital into treasuries. Yo.

The feeling of wrongness everyone has is because the gov is spending so much. So Main Street experience is that things are too expensive, but gov. spending makes economic performance look good, but gov. spending actually has a negative multiplier when it comes to economic output. The only way to solve this in the long run is to vastly reduce or stop deficit spending. It’s not going to happen.

Sure! I think I'll have a higher overall return from the S&P500, but I'm willing to accept slightly lower returns for the income of dividends (via dividend ETFs not necessarily individual stocks). It's probably an emotional attachment more than anything else, but I think dividends perform exceptionally well in volatile/sideways markets allowing me to increase my share count (versus broad indexes which can move sideways for years and not do anything). There's a lot of debate in the finance world, there's no right answer, and that's why it's called "personal finance". Ultimately it's all about what makes the most sense for you and your goals which are obviously different than mine. I hope that makes sense! :D
